Why I'm Done With Achievements

Questioning why we play for achievements today. Is it for the experience, or just the achievements? I would argue it's often for the achievements, and I don't like that.

I’m tired of developers telling you that you haven’t completed their game if you haven’t shot X number of pigeons, collected X number of items, or completed a given mission in a certain amount of time."

    People take achievements/trophies too seriously.

    Just bloody ignore achievements you don't want. If I can't be stuffed getting a trophy, I don't.Simple as that.

    Hell I am one trophy away from plating TR Underworld and I can rarely be stuffed looking for the last treasures so the game has sat there for like a year with only one trophy left.

    agreed with above. no one is holding a gun to your head. also if you dont want to be reminded, theres an option to turn off achievement notifications so you wont know if you get one unless you purposefully go and check the list. theres one way to prevent yourself from thinking about them.

    achievements/trophies do not unlock anything. i like doing them because some games they are just fun cool and teach you more about the game. then some are like play x amount of hours play for 6months after game released are for there benefit not ours.

      some dragon age DLC unlocks certain items

      a lot of times avatar unlockables are tied to achievements and unlock when you get a certain achievement.

    I've had my 360 for 2-3 years and I only just reached 8,000 achievement points. I don't bother to try and go for them all.

    Shinobi_razor can you give me a example of those?
    i wish they did more had more rewards. Gotenks would you go after them more if they gave you more stuff? had a meaning?
