A small rant about why retailers ask for those surveys and why you should fill them out. I work for GameStop, and am facing potential disciplinary measures because my survey response scores are low. This post is not meant to vent frustration, it's more to get the public aware of what's really going on with those surveys.

Fill out those surveys; that clerk's job just might depend on it.

Good advice and a great read, especially for a cashier like myself. Could I possibly utilize this advice for myself? Yes, if possible.

wow, i had no idea those dumb surveys were taken so seriously. thats really quite ridiculous that just because i might not feel like filling it out every time i buy something at Gamestop, im putting the employees job at risk. now im going to feel guilty when i dont it every time. ugh.

at the least Gamestop could offer you something for completing them, like maybe a couple dollars worth of trade credit for every one you complete. i really dont feel like i should waste my time doing a 10 minute survey with nothing to show for it other than potentially saving someone's job. and to think i was wanting to work there, not anymore if i could possibly lose my job because customers arent filling them out.

It's not just Gamestop that does this. When I worked for Target, they also closely monitored their survey scores. This stuff is a goldmine for economists/business statisticians. I'd say that this is something that should be fixed on a societal level, not just corporate.
