Star Fox 64 3D has been released for the 3DS but does not include online multiplayer. See why this is more important than it may seem and why Nintendo needs to change its thinking.

Star Fox 64 3D came out recently for the Nintendo 3DS and has received generally positive reviews from critics. The game is a fun rehash of the classic Nintendo 64 game that was one of the most popular to be released on the console. But one thing is noticeably missing from the remake and that is online functionality. Nintendo has stated that the online functionality would have cost too much to develop but I think that there is something else going on. Check out my full thoughts below.

It cost to much to develop? Uhm...can you imagine how much more units you would of sold if you added online? I really don't think cost was an issue for online when it came to this game. I can't really see Star Fox 64 3D costing a ton to make even without online.

Many fans were expecting online when it was first announced and are probably disappointed that it wasn't added. I was planning to buy the game(still might) but I really wanted to play online with people around the world. They say they will add it in the next Star Fox game...lets hope there is a new one.

I'm hoping there's a new Star Fox game as well, provided Nintendo doesn't pull the bullcrap Capcom did by cancelling not one, but two Megaman titles within a short period of time.

      Seriously, that was not cool.

Well they're still sticking to the "If this game sells bad then no more Star Fox" stick. So basically we have to hope this one sells well enough to their expectations so the series can live on.

    There's no online multiplayer?

    How incredibly lame.

This isn't exactly something new. Nintendo has stated before that they avoid putting in online features due to cost issues.

So yeah, if you want good online mutliplayer, go somewhere else.

Nintendo the company that has been printing money for the last 5 years can't afford to add online to a game.. It's not an issue of budget it's an issue of being too lazy to add something that would make the game much better.

It did. Whether anyone used it or not, I do not know.
