Why Video Games Should Not Be Considered Sports

MP1st writes that video games should not be considered sports. Not because they aren't as good or on the same level as sports, but because they simply don't compare.

Due to the increase in popularity of clubs such as Major League Gaming, World Cyber Games, and the Cyberathlete Professional League, video gaming has made impressive gains in the field of standardized competition.

    if curling gets to be considered a sport, video games should be too.

      Curling is a physical activity. Video games are not. For me it's that simple. Sport is physical in nature.

        oh yeah, shoving a rock and sweeping ice is reeaaally physical. like Seproth said, poker is considered a sport and thats not physical.

    If poker is a sport, video games are too. Same goes for darts and bowling.

      Poker isn't a sport. It's a game. A game you can play professionally and win money from yes, but a game nonetheless. Describing it as a sport is a fallacy.

        It's played on a sports network regularly... it's considered a sport and if it is, then video games are too, at least you have to have dexterous thumbs.
