Kory Baldwin of GameJudgment gives the console version of Crytek's Crysis a try and asks the big question: Is Crysis on Console comparable to the mighty gaming PC?

With “maximum skepticism” I downloaded the PS3 version of Crysis last night and reflected on Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli’s insinuation that, “Crysis on Consoles looks better than PC.” What I found was surprising.

LOL no.. Those that have the PC power no longer run Crysis all vanilla and basic. They stick it on max settings which already looks better than the Console version and then they install graphics mods to make the game look even better. So in that regard Console will never have a better looking Crysis.

Whatever the case, I'll take the PC version and mods any day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shZzYkpl5Nk

Ill take a system that I know can play the game any day. The debate of which is stronger PC or consoles is foolish, PCs can be upgraded, consoles cannot. Still, Ill take my consoles over PC any day because I dont have to spend $1000 to make sure this game can play, then spend $500 6 months later to play another game.

That's a myth perpetuated by hardware manufacturers and retail outlets. Any PC gamer worth his salt builds a solid rig for whatever fits his budget ($500-$1500, usually, though it can go lower), and it lasts him a minimum three years. Any decent PC game is built to scale to a wide variety of hardware configurations.

my concept is that you would just get as much power as you can afford so that you don't have to get a new system in three years. Or at the very least get a system that is open to considerable upgrading, therefore ridding the requirement to build a completely new system every few years.
