Skylanders will be the hot holiday item this Christmas. Activision has created the perfect game one part RPG, and one part collectible that requires gamers to buy more Skylanders if they want to advance in the game. With some stores sold out, could this be the next Pokemon-like craze?

Even if I had interest in Skylanders, I still would have avoided it for the sole fact that you had to buy friggin figurines for the thing.

It works if you have kids or siblings.

Which is my case, I have siblings who love the game, so they pitch in with their allowance and buy figures. When I'm at a store and I see an interesting one, I'll buy one for myself.

Best idea ever, they have over $100 from me, possibly over $200. It is a fun co-op game, keeps kids occupied for when I wanna Skyrim instead, and the figures are actually nice to look at.
