    Eh, it's his money. He can spend it as he chooses. Heaven knows people might not "approve" of things I spend money on. Why do I need their approval anyway? They are free to think it is stupid...and I am free to not care what they think.

    Btw, I've never paid real money for a single virtual item.

    I think you might be missing the point of the article. Games shouldn't encourage such reckless spending. Yes, anyone can spend their own money how they please but games companies are somewhat exploiting individuals by including or allowing 'extras' such as the case in question.
