$60 for a game isn't a purchase, it's an investment. And when it comes to unproven IPs, that same $60 can turn into a gamble. Why are new IPs priced the same as brand new, well known games in a series. Do they have to be? Default Prime author Kyree Leary shares his thoughts.

One could also argue that sequels shouldn't be the same price as it's basically the same content as the first just updated and a few added animations/mechanics.

Honestly, I think the pricing structure for games needs to be reworked. Sure, there's a good chance it won't happen, but someone (developer/publisher) has to step up.

Yeah I agree. I suppose it isn't so bad in most countries, but in places like Australia we're forking out $100-120 for a new release game. The price should vary depending on the content.

Take COD for example. The SP is half assed, and they really only focus on multiplayer. Games like this should only be $50. (The same goes for SP only games) The only time a game should be worth $100 is when it's the full package, great single player AND multiplayer. A good exaample would be Uncharted 3
