With the recent North American release of Final Fantasy XIII-2 many gamers are once again asking: is the JRPG in decline? JRPGs have been seeing waning levels of interest with Western audiences, who are more accustomed to innovative Western action RPGs.

"In the last couple of years we have been seeing a trend in which interest in JRPGs has been waning, even in their home country. Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been focus tested and tweaked to supposedly meet gamers expectations, but if the game suffers weak sales in North America, we may be seeing a worldwide decline in the genre."
