Call of Duty Black Ops Voted ‘Best Game Ending’ Of All Time
16 hours 27 mins ago
Looking at the PS3 almost a year after its launch, it has had less than expected market penetration. So I have looked at some of the items that could improve sales of the PS3 and chose five that I feel can make a difference in the performance of the PS3 at the register. And we left cost out of the equation, focusing on the following:
- Emotion Engine,
- Discontinuing the PS2,
- Multiple SKUs,
- Spending Money on Exclusives
- Getting Franchise Titles out Quicker
Living on past laurels and console sales, everyone thought that the Playstation 3 would sell well at first announcement. But over the course of development and press releases to the inevitable lackluster launch, the Playstation 3 continues to search for the breakthrough sales numbers that its predecessors had.

Look, when the PS2 first came out, the new version of the PS1 sold far more then PS2s...it will be the same this time around...with competition from the Wii, as well as the 360 this time around, it will likely take Sony some extra time to compensate, but with some luck, in the future, the PS3 market will have a boom...
The fact that you fail to see this pretty much reduces anything you have to say here to nothing.
The removal of the emotion engine does suck for some, but for most people it's going to be just fine. I personally am just happy that I have a release 60gb PS3.
Besides, Sony is actively updating the BC of the emotion engine PS3's, unlike Microsofts few and far between BC updates.
Discontinuign the PS2? I'm sorry, but if it was the best console from the last generation. Discontinuing it would force people to spend on a PS3. Which is good for Sony, but is it for the cousumers?
SKU's are fine the way they are.
There last two facts are exxagerating. They just started in this generation. Give them time, in 2008. Nintendo and Sony dominate, while Microsoft are going on a slump. Time is needed.
2. Definitely not, Sony(unlike MS) keeps there consoles for 10 years and makes money, which is why there number one in the gaming industry.
3. Well i just made an article stating that Sony made a deal, that will get cheaper SKU's which will ultimately lower the cost of the PS3 very soon. Besides there is a 40GB version in the mix for the holidays.
4. Um i don't think Sony will start giving money to devs like MS, its not there Forte, they get games from loyalty, trust, and friendship.
5. You you forgotten Halo 3 took 2 years to come out that's along time for a FPS IMO, besides this is a next gen not alot of games that is great or looking awesome will be out quicker.
All in all i find this list to be stupid, i mean i understand what he means but some of the things he said is just what he wants not would help Sony. They wouldn't be where they are today if they didn't stick to there game plan.
Better Advertising.
It all comes down to what the public know that gets them buying your product. Most people don't browse internet forums. They get their info from TV commercials and magazines. Quite frankly I'm pissed off with how bad the advertising has been for the PS3.
When is the last time you saw the PS3 advertised on TV?? I see a Wii commercial in almost every slot yet the PS3 is no where to be seen. Even when I do see a comercial it's that ridiculous 'This Is Living' Campaign which doesn't inform gamers on the PS3s capabilities.
Why not have an advert showing some GT5/MGS4/GTA4/Resistance Footage? That WILL definitely get some gamers putting their hands in their wallets.
Sony needs to stop trying inventive adverts and just show the public exactly what the PS3 is cabable of instead of showing us a fat man with a grenade.
