The new PSP is awesome, but it fixes many issues that should have never existed in the first place and it is unlikely Sony will be able to redefine the handheld in the minds of consumers.

The PSP Slim is so good compared to the old model that Sony should have released it from the very beginning. The PSP Slim is really only amazing to the large group of people that bought the old version. If we look at the specs for the new PSP, we see a system that is what most consumers expect to get in the first place. Things like better load times, more efficient battery usage, and a usable Square Button are details that should have been ironed out before the system was ever released.

A few months back I almost bought a PSP. Now I'm glad I didn't waste my money. I got a PSP from a friend just to test it, played around with it and I didn't like it much, it does have a lot of issues, all of which could have been easily avoided from the start just like the article says.

LOL at "Kratos struggles against the beast of load times."

"and a usable Square Button", so Sony actually intended to make the original PSP useless without a Square button! The idiots!

Great, now they just need to fix the over-priced games and useless movie formats and I'll buy one...

I definitely agree that this model should have been the "first". Fix the bugs, and release it a year (or two) later. It's not that big a deal, Sony.

I have the original "fat" PSP, and it's just a pain in the ass. Slow loading times, short battery life.
Plus, the Directional Buttons have jammed three times now (the first time I had to get a new PSP, the second time I sent it back to Sony to get the buttons replaced, but a few weeks later they jammed again).

It annoys me to no end that I bought the old version (for something around $500 AU), then Sony release a "fixed and better" version of the PSP soon after.

So now I have to fork out another few hundred dollars just to buy a PSP that will play the games "properly". Well, I have to buy a new PSP anyways, because my old one's buttons aren't working.

I agree with this article. This model should definitely come out first. At least they made the Square button useful in the new model.

Last year, I was thinking of getting a PSP for my birthday. But it then changed to something else *sob*. But after reading this article, I might be considered lucky not to waste any money.

I'll be cheap and see if the prices drop if i get this, seems really neat, for every console they must make like a bad version of it then wait a few years then the companies seem to make better versions like NDS - NDS Lite/ PSP - PSP Lite/ PS - PS2 - PS3!/ Xbox - Xbox 360/ GB Colour - GBA - Gameboy SP - Gameboy Micro!/ It gose on and on!

Yeah, that's pretty much the point. If the better one comes out later, you can't just say that this is the one that should've come out first. This is Trial and Error, you can't know what you need to upgrade without consumer feedback, for starters...can't say I agree with the article.
