MTV Multiplayer discusses the Adventure Mode of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, entitled "The Subspace Emissary", and asks the question of whether or not it should receive its own fully featured sequel.
Its a really great premise, but, by the end a few things hold it back from really reaching the pedestal worthy of its star power. The SSE mode is a really great addition to "Brawl", and an impressive evolution of the adventure mode from "Melee", but some glaring problems stand out.
Nevertheless, I want a sequel. Ill explain why.

I enjoyed SSE though, especially with Co-Op.
Still, a lot of the plot didn't make any sense and it felt like really poor for the guy who wrote FF7.
Honestly they basically took Kirby Superstar and tried to force Smash Bros. mechanics in and it didn't really work well. Perhaps if it emphasized more actual Brawls than annoying enemies.
Yeah, a new writer would be nice too, wasn't that much depth in it.
Also, the reason Sonic was thrown in at the last minute, was because he was "literally" thrown into the game at the last minute. Sakurai has already been interviewed saying Sonic was a late addition to the game, well after the planning stages were complete. The basic shape of Subspace was already finished when Sonic "joined" Brawl, and the easiest way to get him in Subspace was to simply add him at the end.
There was mild cursing, followed by the proclaimation that "This game is wicked...".
The sticker system seperated it from what would have been a thinner game. I'm only sad that the customization wasn't taken further and implemented in more ways. Trophies and stickers are practically useless by the time you beat the SSE. You'll never actually need to put stickers on certain characters because you get them at the very end of the game.
