Think your hardcore gamer skills will last forever? Think again. TechRadar gives us the 11 signs that we're no longer a hardcore gamer. Some of these signs include: you'd rather play against the computer instead of playing online, and it's been days since we last turned on our gaming console.

You used to play videogames all night. Your Quake prowess was unmatched; your skills at Command & Conquer unparalleled. You have a gaming history that stretches back beyond the PlayStation generation to the SNES, Megadrive, Amiga and ZX Spectrum. You were there at the dawn of gaming.

Tick-tock... Time passes. You've quietly come to realise that you're not the hard-core gamer you used to be. Even your Xbox 360 Gamertag seems far too 'sensible'. How do you know that a mid-life gaming crisis is setting in? Watch out for these warning signs…

Lol, nice article. But it's so true, most of the things they list are true. I lol'd at the board games being acceptable one. Quite a funny article.

"You've pre-ordered GTA IV but don't mind if it doesn't turn up on launch day

Wednesday's just fine. Really. You're a bit busy at the moment, anyway. In fact, you probably won't get a chance to play GTA IV until the weekend. You're also not bothered by the prospect of downloading the DLC for GTA IV either. You'll never finish the main game anyway."

    LOL final blade

Correction, i have finished all the main game/story of the game. I just don't finish every side mission. There's a slight difference, especially in GTA SA. Its was so much useless crap(that i didn't like) that i just ended up with 80% completition.

However i won't say that im not a hardcore. Gamer. My PS3 may have not been on since the FW but i have been playing my PSP constantly so im still hardcore.

    I'm not a hardcore gamer anymore. =/

I used to be so addicted to my PS3, but I've just recently started getting so much work in school, I just haven't had time.

"You fondly remember a ‘golden age’ of gaming

You lament the current glut of videogame sequels and often talk fondly of an innovative 'golden age' of gaming. You remember Manic Miner, good ‘ol Chuckie Egg and the Ultimate games on the ZX Spectrum. You played Sensible Soccer the first time around on the Amiga, Elite on your mate’s BBC B, and finished Sonic The Hedgehog on the Megadrive. Happy days… But when modernised versions of these gaming classics turn up on Xbox Live, your excitement quickly evaporates. You quickly realise that, by today’s standards, those cherished oldies are now shallow, repetitive and not much fun."

Haha, that one totally got me. I wish gaming was as cool as it seemed back on my Sega Mega.

Gunstar Heroes on the Mega Drive is still the greatest video game of all time.

You avoid playing on the Wii because it’s too much effort

There's no denying that the Nintendo Wii is a revolutionary games machine but… well, it does require a lot of effort. Aren't there times when you just want to slouch into a comfy sofa with a traditional joypad? Times when you can't be arsed with all that wiimote waving and waggling? It's way too energetic – a 20 minute bowling session in Wii Sports is almost akin to a full workout.
ONCE UPON A TIME there was Wii Sports. Then reviews played it once with a dipshit that didn't know how to play. Then hundreds of other games were released, but no one reviewed them. The result? Reviewers get paid for not reviewing anything.

Lol, most of the things said in the article are true.

And all I can say about it is:

I'm just glad that I'm still a hardcore gamer!

I only had 4 apply to myself. I still don't consider myself a hardcore gamer anymore, though. That pretty much died out after I left Highschool.

Oh man, you have your hands full. Just wait till they get old enough to enjoy console gaming, you'll lose the tv forever (untill they go off to college). >_<

Tell me about it!! They're little terrors at times! They are all under the age of 5 so I have a few years before they take over my consoles....the oldest (5) has a DS that he's not really interested in, and rarely wants to play the PS3 so I'm golden for now LMAO

I agree with some of them. I do fondly remember the Golden Age of gaming, which was probably around the SNES era. (imo)

I also sometimes prefer to play against the computer rather than get my ass handed to me by some 12 year old kid on Xbox live, haha.

Meh, I never was 'hardcore'. But I imagine that I have gotten less 'hardcore' >_>

Games are also rather expensive for me. I can only afford to get one game every couple of months, unless someone gets it for me, or I get cheap used ones >_>

I'm too young to be hardcore. I need to mature into the loser I'm destined to be! I'd be sad if I stopped being hardcore, because once you get a life, fun ends. And in my opinion, fun is not anything that should be lost.

You can be grown up and still have fun, I promise!! You just have to make time for it......time isn't as disposable when you hit your late 20's on, but you can always find a way to have fun! That's why I dig the hand helds so much, I can take them to work and crank on 'em while on break!
