A realist has written a lengthy blog on what he thinks will be in the next Xbox to come out for Mircosoft. He talks about the design(size, style), which media it will use/stick with, the CPU(sticking with IBM, possibly), the GPU(Xenos ATI chip), the controllers(maybe the Wii-look-alike) and finally, when it will be dated for release. He seems to be set on Novemeber 9th, 2009.

It’s almost that time already - The Xbox 360 is barely settled in and already gamers everywhere are eagerly awaiting news of Microsoft’s next console. As is now the norm, the internet is buzzing with chatter of the next Xbox, years before it will even hit the shelves. The truth is, no-one outside of Microsoft has even the faintest idea of what to expect, not even Xbox news luvvie Dean Takahashi. Some websites choose to speculate, which is fine - although some of the suggestions so far have been quite frankly preposterous. This particular article will instead look at historical data and trends in an attempt to predict what we can expect to see in the next Microsoft console.

I don't think they will be releasing a new Xbox in a while.

Obviously you do not sense the sarcasm in my comment.

How about a console like their logo? Anyone, anyone?

Well, maybe not. Even though a sphere shaped system would be cool, there'll be flaws.

    Isn't November 9, 2009 a little early? I was expecting a new xbox console around late 2010 or 2011.

Considering it's been out since 2005, it's no real surprise that MS are looking to their next console. Most consoles last about 5 years (the original Xbox only lasted 4 years).

Oh im not saying its too early to be thinking about it. Im just saying releasing the new xbox system November 9, 2009 is kinda early. I feel the 360 has just as much of a long life span as the PS3.

I hope they come up with a better name than just a numerical sequence continuation (like the Xbox 720 or something). Hopefully they come up with something catchy like Xbox 360 again but a bit less lame than Xbox 720.

Should be interesting to see any more news about this though.

What about Xbox Evolution? It has a nice ring to it imo.

Seems a little fishy to be thinking about the next Xbox when 360 is still pretty new. Are they really that threatened by PS3?

I would be very surprised if Nintendo and Sony weren't thinking about their next consoles.

Yea, when a console releases, they start thinking about the next one right away.

I don't think they'd make it another number. It wouldn't be so original anymore. Whatever the name is, it better be a kickass console.

This is too quick, I haven't even gotten a "current generation" system yet. I say leave the speculation to Microsoft, they'll announce it when the time is right. Seeing as the 360 is in infancy, I highly doubt we'll be hearing anything official soon.

I heard on news-60 (when xleauge.tv was still running) that it was gonna be called Xbox Ultimate, however that was quite a while ago and it was probs just a rumour.

If MS is trying to increase it's market share, then they may just release something early. Imagine how many gamers will buy the new XBOX if it's the ONLY next-next gen console on the market.

Don't feel bad if it happens to you. I bought the original XBOX about 6 months before they announced the XBOX 360. It was worth it just being able to play Halo 2 until the 360 came out. There are so many great games on the 360, that even if they announced the new XBOX coming out in a year (not likely), the current stable of games make it worthwhile to buy a XBOX 360 now.
