Surprised to see Bully there. There wasn't actually anything controversial about it. ANy top 10 most controversial games list is just shoddy if it doesn't include Postal, or Postal 2.

I think Bully was there because there was a far bit of controversy when the game was announced rather than after its release.

The fact that Leisure Suit Larry was in there made me laugh. I totally had forgotten about that game. GTA and God of War aren't a surprise either. =)

Interestingly, Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy has full frontal nudity and two sex scenes in it, yet didn't cause any controversy, despite being acclaimed and covered in mainstream newspapers (The Guardian had a review of it, I believe). I think the main difference was in the game's intelligent treatment and attitude towards these topics - that is, sex happens between adults and people shouldn't get worked up over it. Compare that to the adolescent glorification of the same subject matter in GTA or Leisure Suit Larry and I suppose you can see why people get more heated over the latter games.

I remember all of these, although I've only played Bully. God of War really surprised me.
