"When it comes to the marketing side of things, box art has played almost as big a part of game sales as the design and programming of the titles themselves. In the early days of the industry, it wasn't uncommon for games to have imagery that conveyed completely unrealistic ideas of what the gameplay was actually like."

Sadly, there are a few great games that LucasArts never revisited, so Push Start Select is highlighting the 5 games fans want to see again.
Bad voice acting can sometimes ruin the experience, but these ten games overcome awful voice acting by somehow managing to still be good despite the terrible voice performances.
"We’ve all heard the legends of an NES cartridge that was only made for a Nintendo promotional event, or the old Atari 2600 game that was never mass produced, and now they’re worth thousands of dollars. If you got your hands on one of those limited run games decades ago you’d be able to sell it for a fortune today. Unfortunately, most games steadily drop in resale value from the minute they hit the market. Still, there are a few that actually increase in resale price after release, and many..."
Gaming has hit a bit of a slump in terms of design and innovation. Endless sequels plague the release calendar, and will kill the industry. This isn't the first time that something like this has happened, but I welcome the fallout and eventual recovery that will come.
"The power button on my Dreamcast emits a glow. The warm, rosy glow of nostalgia for a time when game progress was saved on Memory Cards, a time before HD televisions, when online gaming was done with a 56k modem, and controllers still had wires. Hardcore gamers talk about the Dreamcast the way that car lovers talk about a ’57 Chevy, the way that junkies talk about that first pure high. That high was powerful, but short-lived; the Dreamcast debuted in 1999, but was already done with by 2001..."
Part two of a rant that I posted last week. I'm ranting about stereotypes in the MMO Genre that do more harm to games than good. I also take the time to point out games that are smacking these tropes in the face. You should definitely read part one before reading part two.
This rant points out some of the more pervasive annoyances in the MMO genre, and shows how some companies are doing it right. Part 1 of a 2 part series.

Survival Horror games have really taken a turn from where they started. Graphics and detail have improved dramatically, but they don't really give you a legitimate fright. I explore games that have done it well and others that have done it not so well. We can get better experiences, we just need to make sure the developers know what we want.
