If you haven't pre-ordered Killzone 2 or can't because you don't have a gamestop near your house, you still can get a chance to play the game before it is released. About 1 day before the game's release. The PSN demo will be released on feb. 26th. That should give you enough time to get the hang of Killzone.

Follow the link to read up on why Sony planed Killzone 2's demo release like this.

And what if you don’t pre-order “Killzone 2″ but want to try the demo? It’s slated for release as a download from the PlayStation Network on PS3 for Thursday, February 26, a day before the game’s official release date. That demo will be accessible to all PS3 owners.

Thats cool, wish they would bring it out earlier though, this is on my definite list so, it'd better be good.

Yayy, I get a demo for my birthday! I actually have to leave for a trip the day it comes out so I'll probably play the hell out of this for a day.

That's so *bleep*ing gay. What the hell? Might as well just release the damn demo a week after the game is already released.

That's a bit stupid, what's the point. Its a waste of time and resources to put it up.

Plus if some gamers don't like it there potentially losing sales.

For every game, there is always "some gamers" who won't like it. There are people who don't like MGS4, and those who don't like Gears 2. But we know that both of those games are brilliant.

Besides, as long as the demo is released before the game, albeit a day, players who come late to the party can still try it out later on. It can also be for those who don't have extra money for it and will just play the demo for ages.

I know that there are people that wont like the game.

What I am saying is that people would have bought it wont, after playing the demo they didn't like it and so didn't buy the game the next day.

          ...

That's the same gamble for every other demo released, I don't see how this one is any different.

Because they could avoid it all together by making them wait ONE DAY.

Sure if it was a month or a week, but a day?

The argument still makes no sense...

So if the demo released about a month before the game comes out...how does that change the minds of those that were put off by the demo? Hell, the way I see it, releasing the demo a day before the game comes out would bring some serious attention to the game; thus possibly (and potentially) helping sales.

          What I am saying is.

Say 100 people are going to buy the game.
Then the day before the game comes out the demo releases.
They try the demo, 30 of them decide not to buy the game after playing the demo.
The next day only 70 buy the game.

See if the demo didn't come out the day before they would have an extra 30 sales. I'm saying why didn't they just leave the demo?

So you're saying that the demo tactic as a whole is BAD? Damn, I dunno about you but I like free demos and betas to get a little taste of the game and KNOW what I'm gonna buy before the game comes out. And like I said before, I don't see how KZ2 is supposedly any different, sure as hell is a better consumer tactic than to release the demo AFTER the game comes out.

No, I know demos are good, I enjoy them too. But with a demo you always run the risk of losing sales.

As the Killzone 2 demo is coming out A DAY BEFORE THE GAME IS RELEASED, then there just running the risk for no reason.

And releasing a demo after a game is out isn't a bad idea, quite a few demos if games have come out after a game has been released.

Not necessarily, like I said, it could be a good move to have KZ2 on top of the Wish List or to bring it to the surface and set it apart from the other games coming out on the PS3.

Considering most of the time we're dreading things getting delayed and pushed back, I find that pushing the demo AFTER the game comes out to be a really bad move on the consumer's part.

Yeh. It's just a shame the demo has been released so close to the game release. Like LOTR: Conquest, after I played the demo, I was shockingly disappointed and have decided not to buy.

Very foolish and also risky strategy.

Releasing it about a week would be a much better idea; gives people a chance to learn the gameplay and appreciate it. This way, the unconvinced will be making a purchase on a first-impression - so it better be a damn good one.

I don't see why you people are complaining. It's just like releasing another demo. It's not like if people don't buy it on release day, they're never going to. Sometimes demos are released after games are and they still sell well. It doesn't really matter.

You don't have to worry too much. I'll be getting the demo from Gamestop, made damn sure I got my reference card. Demo goes active Feb. 5th I believe. I'll be recording tons of footage and dropping it onto youtube/'grep/neo. Should be enough gameplay footage for folks to determine where the game stands on some level. (depends on the demo - if it's a multi-only, single player, or mix of both)

I also expect the actual game to have some kind of campaign co-op. There are apparently 3 characters in the player's single player campaign that are part of his direct squad. Recent concept art depicts the four. All have some kind of specialization, in lieu of weapons carried. Shotgun, heavy machine gun, assault rifles. Think I saw a grenade launcher too.
Can't imagine these as characters that get killed off too soon. Also, considering Killzone 'has to be' all it can be, and campaign co-op is becoming a new standards in such games, put two and two together.

    We'll see on Feb 5th.

Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but it was confirmed in an article posted on Gamegrep a few days ago that there would be no campaign co-op.

Bots will remain though in the multiplayer modes though, so cooperative deathmatch, CTF etc. will all still be in.

Actually, its a good idea it release it so close to release because if you release it way early, some of the excitement wears off.

I'm picking up this demo today in like an hour or two probably. It sucks though cause I'm leaving either before or like 2 days after KZ2's official release to go to Mexico.
