Hey everyone, I’m Shawn Baxter (Snow) from Capcom-Unity. Our amazing Resident Evil 5 Demo goes live today on PSN, so I thought I’d tease you a bit with some of the cool things to expect, whether you’re an old fan or new to the series. One of the first things I noticed is how good the game looks. It’s hard to get by the beauty RE5 has to offer. Better still, you get to play through two beautiful stages in the demo. Aside from the sweet graphics, there’s plenty more that the demo has to offer.

Caught it last night when setting up a new HDTV and looking for HD movies to download. Came out without much warning. :\

The demo features 2 'stages', both can be played in single player, split screen co-op (Chris and Sheva), and online co-op.

Controls are very similar to RE4, with the addition of a quick inventory system (triangle button opens radial menu), and quick swap items on the d-pad for easy cycling on the fly.

No strafing, not even with the knife. ;S

Strafing is to be implemented in the final version of the game, were you can turn the feature on and off in the options menu.

Therefore you can either play the game whilst being able to move around and shoot or play it were you just stand still and shoot.

I really don't like the controls; no movement with the gun raised is a little silly, and the aiming mechanics are odd; however they are more realistic, as real humans don't have reticules emblazoned onto their corneas, so in that respect it was interest to use.

Even if people have played RE4, they'll still have to get used to the new controls. Though for me it took about 2 playthroughs to get the hang of it. Now I'm just killing those guys with one bullet. Literally...Headshot, Punch/Kick, Stomp/Impale.

The co-op is definitely THE feature of the game, especially with a friend in which you both keep in constant contact. Me playing with someone else (Survival %= 30-), though playing with my friend (Survival %= 95+).
