Square Enix still haven't decided if they are going to release a Final Fantasy XIII demo in the West, but if they do, Yoshinori Kitase has announced that they "are thinking of providing it in a downloadable format" and that "if we were to provide the demo overseas, it would be a completely new version."

Square Enix is undecided about releasing a playable demo of Final Fantasy XIII in the States, but if it does, it won't be available on disc form. Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase commented, "we are thinking of providing it in a downloadable format," reiterating earlier sentiments. However, don't expect to play a localized version of the PS3 demo. Instead, "if we were to provide the demo overseas, it would be a completely new version." The game has progressed quite a bit since the release of the Japanese demo, meaning Square Enix would be more inclined to show something new ... if they decide on actually making one in the first place.

Man, I hope they do this. It would be such a great way to show off the game.

I'd download it for sure. Even if it does take up half my hard drive

Need to edit that description. Sounds like Square are comtemplating over whether to bring FF XIII to the West at all, which is clearly not the case.

Are they not going to do a 360 version of the demo?

The question was made in context about the PS3 demo, so their answer was PS3 based.

I imagine if a western demo was released, it would be on both consoles.

"If we were to provide the demo overseas"

Which, in my opinion, is one helluva if.

I am sure they would release a demo, they'd be silly not to. The Xbox 360 received preview videos, so why not a game demo?

Because they made people pay for the demo with Advent Children: Complete before, so they're not exactly into the whole generosity crap, plus they don't really need to get people on the side of the game, since the hype train guarantees serious cashola.
