After much speculation, Heavy Rain will finally be getting a playable demo, but, according to one of the Quantic Dream heads, it's hard to pick a level for everyone to demo.

Quantic Dream head, David Cage, told G4 that “[they're] currently working on a demo” for Heavy Rain, and that “finding one scene that can convey what we are trying to achieve with Heavy Rain is something really difficult.”

I see what he means. To be honest, I wish there wasn't a demo...game doesn't seem suited for it. I guess Sony put them up to it. =/

No it doesn't but why would you wish there wasn't? A demo is a demo.

        I'm not seeing your point.

You can always just....NOT DL the demo neh?

It's up to you. I'll check the demo myself, I'm pretty much leaning to 'no' on getting this game, but I'll check the demo and see if it changes my mind....

Demos are great. It let's you try out a game that you might have a serious liking into. I love playing demos for games I want to get because it let's me see which ones I should get first. I'm no doubt getting this one, but I heard the controls were a little hard to getting used to, so this demo could solve that problem.

I'm still on the fence about whether or not to get this game, so I'm glad they're releasing a demo.

I love demos, tbh. I've bought alot of games that I thought I wouldn't buy because I ended up enjoying the demos.

I don't think a demo will do the game justice. I have a feeling a lot of people will try out this demo and think it is a good representation of the game, and decide not to get the game . . . And the game's sales will fall.

      Precisely .

But then there are the people who will buy the game because they didn't think they'd like the game, but ended up enjoying the demo. It evens itself out.

I personally don't believe there is any game that can't benefit from having a demo released. It's just up to the devs/publishers to release the best demo they can. (which unfortunately doesn't always happen).

Then they made a poor demo.... simple as that.

But that's just it, I think the demo wouldn't represent the game too well, because the major aspect of the game (at least to me) is the story and how submersive, and how varying the story is. How can you portray that in a demo? The demo will provide gameplay demo and such, but not really a good representation for a game like this.

Not all games need demos, because demos can't really show all games well.

The same goes for RPGs and other story-heavy games though. Devs obviously can't represent these games' stories in a 30min - hour long demo. But they don't have to convince us that the story will be fantastic. They just have to convince us the game is good enough to warrant a purchase.

Yeah, it's taking on a challenge. That's for sure, but they shouldn't do it unless they feel they can pull it off. Kind of late to back out now though.

It's time to make it worthwhile, it's far from impossible.

tallteen, I thought it was assumed I wouldn't download it. From there you can assume I had something else in mind.

This was a game i was going to pick up on release demo or not, i don't think i'll try the demo because i'd rather just wait to buy the game and play it in it's full glory.

Some games need a demo, this doesn't.

I'd like the lady's section as a demo, or the guy in the junkyard.

Count me in as long as the demo isnt massive in terms of hard drive space.
