Today was supposed to be like Christmas Eve. The anticipation and excitement of something special to come the next day. The metaphorical "Christmas" which was the Crysis single player demo. The demo was to be released tomorrow (Sept 25th) the same day Halo 3 was to be released. Sadly, over the weekend I had the displeasure of reading that Crysis will be released now on October 26th, 2007.

Now, I know you're all disappointed as am I. As a bonus for our disappointment Crytek will be releasing the game editor along with the demo. Below, quoted, is the email with the bad news from Crytek. Good things come to those who wait...or so they say. *wipes away tear*

Hi everyone,

We have some news to announce.

First, I am sorry for the bad news - the Crysis single player demo will now be available everywhere on October 26th, 2007.

We are taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the release date of Crysis at this stage. To get the game into your hands by November the 16th, we had to make this call.

Now the good news - the big surprise. The SP demo will be released with our CryEngine 2 - Sandbox 2 game editor, giving the community the opportunity to get familiar with the vast amount of tools they will have at their disposal four weeks before we ship, something we have always wanted to do.

This is an exciting time for us at the studio as the development of Crysis comes to an end and we are only a few weeks from Gold Master. We appreciate your patience and are looking forward to getting Crysis into your hands on November 16th.

It would be amazing if this game just didn't turn out to be very good at all.

Well...at least the demo has the level editor. Not being able to play the single player demo for a few more weeks does suck a bit, though...

Well, I was really looking forward to this demo, but I guess I can wait a little longer. I really want to try this game out, I hope it's going to live up to expectations in the end.
