We saw the CoD 4 trailer, yes we all drooled over it. Well, the anticipation is over and PC users (haha, no 360 or PS3! go PC, nyaaaa :P~) get a chance to get their hands on the demo.
The demo can only be officially obtained via Yahoo (unless you can find a torrent). I can only assume that the Yahoo servers are just getting pounded like a wooden cottage under siege from mortar fire as thousands upon thousands of gamers try to download the demo. My download has barfed many times already and I believe this will be my 5th or 6th time trying to get it.
Update (11am PST): Reading around on a lot of comments throughout the gaming community it seems to be a global issue and everyone seems to get their downloads crapping out on them. Lets hope more than just the one horrible Yahoo mirror pop up soon.
Browsing around I found two sites talking about the demo the first site was Korean, the second Chinese. Does this mean Yahoo only has one mirror for a demo that's being downloaded globally around the world? explains why the download is crapping out for everyone.
Digg this!

I just got a message through Gamespy Comrade (which I have to use if I want to play the Crysis Beta) as I was reading this, and I'm in line to download it off Fileplanet right now. The wait is surprisingly decent, 27 minutes. I've had much longer waits than that, well over an hour.
By the way, this isn't a Yahoo exclusive. I'm downloading it off of FilePlanet right now.
It wasn't until the afternoon hours that Fileplanet and other sites had it available.
I played it. It's alright, but I'm not really too amazed. It feels like Call of Duty, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. The new setting is interesting, as is some of the new equipment you have, but it isn't a radical difference besides that. It is fun, but I'm a little disappointed in the lack of destructibility. I must have mixed it up with Battlefield: Bad Company, which has fully destructible environments.
It's fun, but to be honest it's not incredible. I did enjoy it, but it hasn't convinced me to buy it. The PC has some more promising FPS games on the horizon.
Here is the fileplanet link for those interested:

this is the 404 page I found when I just looked for the demo:

(note: the page might start working again if yahoo puts the file back)
