We saw the CoD 4 trailer, yes we all drooled over it. Well, the anticipation is over and PC users (haha, no 360 or PS3! go PC, nyaaaa :P~) get a chance to get their hands on the demo.

The demo can only be officially obtained via Yahoo (unless you can find a torrent). I can only assume that the Yahoo servers are just getting pounded like a wooden cottage under siege from mortar fire as thousands upon thousands of gamers try to download the demo. My download has barfed many times already and I believe this will be my 5th or 6th time trying to get it.

Update (11am PST): Reading around on a lot of comments throughout the gaming community it seems to be a global issue and everyone seems to get their downloads crapping out on them. Lets hope more than just the one horrible Yahoo mirror pop up soon.

Browsing around I found two sites talking about the demo the first site was Korean, the second Chinese. Does this mean Yahoo only has one mirror for a demo that's being downloaded globally around the world? explains why the download is crapping out for everyone.

Digg this!

at the moment, I think you and everyone else are pretty much out of luck. Yahoo's server(s) cannot handle the strain. I've given up on the Yahoo mirror for now and will probably wait till a Fileplanet mirror is available. :\

I am going to make liberal use of my refresh button until it magically starts downloading!

I'm going to blame you for the reason as to why people can't download it. Since I'm not much of a PC gamer I wont be downloading it myself... but I can still blame you... but wait... your post was made 1 hour 10 minutes ago... it's 8.45 over here, meaning... your downloading it at work *tells redemption....takes huntyr's place in the queue....starts hammering F5*

There are rumors that it'll be on 360 and PS3 too. Gamefrag.com said that they will come out but are TBA. Someone else contacted Infinity Ward and are waiting for a reply.

    fingers crossed*

There already was a 360 demo.

If you mean the multiplayer beta, I think Seproth was referring to the addition of a single-player demo that's a part of the campaign. I really doubt it, though.

Yup, it'd be the same thing as the PC I'd think.

    Finally!

I just got a message through Gamespy Comrade (which I have to use if I want to play the Crysis Beta) as I was reading this, and I'm in line to download it off Fileplanet right now. The wait is surprisingly decent, 27 minutes. I've had much longer waits than that, well over an hour.

By the way, this isn't a Yahoo exclusive. I'm downloading it off of FilePlanet right now.

Yahoo had the exclusivity to be the sole site to offer it when it was first made available this morning at 9am PST. As such, I call that exclusive and it reflected as such when I made the news post.

It wasn't until the afternoon hours that Fileplanet and other sites had it available.

Oh, I completely understand that. I was just making it known that it isn't a Yahoo exclusive, at least not anymore, so they don't have to struggle with the Yahoo servers.

I played it. It's alright, but I'm not really too amazed. It feels like Call of Duty, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. The new setting is interesting, as is some of the new equipment you have, but it isn't a radical difference besides that. It is fun, but I'm a little disappointed in the lack of destructibility. I must have mixed it up with Battlefield: Bad Company, which has fully destructible environments.

It's fun, but to be honest it's not incredible. I did enjoy it, but it hasn't convinced me to buy it. The PC has some more promising FPS games on the horizon.

as of 4:15 PDT, the link above does not work. It appears Yahoo has taken down the download (most likely to get back some of their precious bandwidth)

Here is the fileplanet link for those interested:
    http://www.fileplanet.com/180530/180000/fileinfo/Call-of-Duty-4-Demo

this is the 404 page I found when I just looked for the demo:
    http://h.yimg.com/download2.games.yahoo.com/games/cod4/CoD4MWDemoSetup.exe

(note: the page might start working again if yahoo puts the file back)

Here's links to everyone who wants to download this demo. You can download it from the following sites:

    Filefront
    Worthplaying

Could add more but GG only allows two URL's per comment.

It's on www.gamershell.com also, but almost all servers are full there.

You know, for as horrible of a release as it started out to be the demo itself was exceptionally great. Especially considering that it is DX9 only.
