While going out on Saturday night I noticed a bright blue ring, glowing. First thing that came to my mind "omg, it's a portal". It was a sign / logo for a mini-mall but all it was, was a blue neon oval. Unfortunately because we were driving I couldn't get too many photos and they aren't the greatest quality either; Photos were taken with my iphone at night time + moving vehicle = not too great. The "portal" is located in Richmond, BC Canada.

Now, if only I had a weighted companion cube.

I've been through that portal. Nothing special on the other side, trust me

    WTF? This isn't news...

More of a blog, and even then, nothing important at all >_>

    A slight curiosity, but still...nothing much >_>

Definition of news = something you didn't know before; Did you know about this? Probably not, hence it being new aka news.

If you guys insist, I can post it on my blog, link the source to said blog and label this as "blog", instead. Or is that just going to garner complaints too? ;P

What are you guys complaining about. I like these kinds of articles. They are interesting. If I were you I would have stopped the car and jumped through it.

Plate of cake on the other side and a companion cube would make this a gathering point for many Portal players.

Why do people complain about what news is posted? News is news...have you ever read a paper or watched the news? Kind of has things like these.

This is pretty interesting...damn Portal's amazing. They better make a sequel.

OK, let me re-iterate, this isn't 'worthwhile' news >_>

Its a slight curiosity (I know a better word, can't remember it though, it is maddening I tell you!)...Fine under the blog category I guess (seems very blog-like)...

The problem I have with this? It is just a gimmie for GameGrep points >_> That, and it clutters up real, worthwhile news...this is fine for posting on a forum or something, but not on a proper news site >_>

That hurts ... The points don't matter to me; putting interesting content here and getting the GameGrep name out onto the intarwebs is more important to me. As the lead developer for GG I want to see the site prosper as much as it can. To get this article some attention because I guarantee you no one else has done an article like this, I've:
        - Sent to Tycho and Gabe of Penny-Arcade
        - Submitted it to Joystiq
        - Submitted it to Kotaku
        - Posted it on the Steam portal forums
        - Posted it on Digg

It may not be interesting to you, but, look at all the other comments; majority found it amusing / interesting.

Well yeah, it's interesting, but how is this gaming news?

It's a circle that you thought looked like a portal from Portal. If you were another person, you would have thought it looked like a big glowing Frisbee.

That's like... It's like me taking a picture of a stick that looks like a Wii remote. It's got that 'Whoa, that's weird' factor going for it, and will probably get talked about, but so what? It's only news in the most technical sense of the term. And it'll get the site publicity, sure enough, but when this article is surrounded by things like 'Analysts: Wii holiday shortages could cost Nintendo 1 Bilion dollars' and 'New PS3 Firmware (2.10) Arrives Tomorrow', it just seems (to be completely honest) stupid and trivial.

This has to be the most rated story on GameGrep ever...

Anyway, yeah I don't see how this is news. It just doesn't seem like anything that should be on GameGrep. Sure it looks like the portal from Portal, but that's it.

How is it not news? I think people need to reacquaint themselves with the terminology of 'news'. If you have a stick that looks just like a Wii remote, by all means, I encourage you to post it here.

If you only like industry based news stories stick to: http://www.gamegrep.com/news/ the rest of us can enjoy the other interesting things in the gaming world. (: Play ISDF, I think the highest rated story is like 2000+ points @_@

Some fo you should settle down. If teckmosis never posted this you would have never known about it. This techinicaly is news, just not new info on a game or console.

Haha brilliant! Is this an actual advertisement or not?

Valve paid me $5 and a coffee to make a giant portal for them, yes. I'm on the Aperture Science pay roll and the weighted companion cube is my manager.

But nono, no advertisement, it's just the minimalls sign or some decorational thing. Oddly enough the area it's in is called tera nova.
