50 Cent: Blood on the Sand

"So the big release season is just beginning, and those of you with deep wallets are rushing around pre-ordering every top game before each emerges onto store shelves.

"But what about those who can only afford maybe one or two new releases, or maybe none at all yet? There’s a global economic slowdown on after all.

"Well at OXCGN we’ve decided to put ourselves in the game Animus and go back in time to discover what titles we enjoyed this gen that you should be able to get for cheap (and..."

"While the confetti falls over gamings greatest heroes, and the crowds and massing fanboys scream their names till their lungs give out, there’s someone (or something) standing in the shadows; avoiding the spotlight and appreciation in order to give the leading character the admiration they deserve. Ah sidekicks – the selfless buddies who give up the spotlight just so the leading protagonist’s can absorb all the glory."

"Every gaming season there are dozens of games vying for attention. Some are destined to be blockbusters; some are destined to be flops; still others are destined to be forgotten. Because of competing titles, poor marketing strategies, or limited budgets, several games with the potential to become the next best thing are just lost through the cracks. It’s a sad thing when a carbon copy Madden game can outsell a great and innovative title like Mirror’s Edge but it’s a fact of life."

"Better reviews don't seem to be helping 50 Cent's newest video game.

Despite earning higher review scores than 2005's 50 Cent Bulletproof, February's Blood on the Sand has sold an estimated 56,000 copies in the U.S. between its February launch and early April."

"I swear (figuratively), playing all the gung-ho “I’m cool ’cause I’ve got tons of bad language” games these days can feel like I’m on Xbox Live with drunken foul-mouthed sods from the Country That Shall Remain Nameless.

Case in point: the recent Chronicles of Riddick: Assault On Dark Athena. The enemy just don’t shut the *bleep* up! Here’s a few examples of their inspired passages of dialogue: “You don’t know who you are *bleep**** with!”. (Yes I do actually…and you’re a joke to kill…). ..."

"I was looking forward to reviewing this game because I don’t like hip-hop rap gangsta music or the attitude behind the whole urban ghetto thing and I figured this game would be a laugh to poke fun at. After all, games and 50 Cent don’t really seem likely to mix well, and his last game, 50 Cent: Bulletproof, seemed to demonstrate that.

What I got was something that perplexed me.

Rarely have I felt so much in two minds or so surprised by a game as I was with this one. The game is publis..."

In this week's review, Ben "Yahtzee" Crosshaw lets loose on 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. While citing the gameplay as functional enough, Yahtzee feels everything else about the game is derivative and, fundamentally speaking, a bane on our civilization.

Fifty is back, and this time...It's personal. Okay, I made that part up, but 50 Cent is back in 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. You play as 50 Cent, blowing up people with rocket launchers and punching them until they die. If you have friends, they can join you as other members from the 'G-Unit'. The game will be out on February 24th and this video shows how players use cover in the game.

Electronic Theatre hosts five brand new 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand Screenshots released by THQ today. 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand is scheduled for release on PLAYSTATION3 and Xbox360 in February.

Recently, there have been reports of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, the sequel to 50 Cent: Bulletproof being cancelled, but GI has learned that it is not true. The game is almost finished and will be ready to play before Christmas strikes.

Since none of this has been confirmed, it will be treated as a rumor.

"For those of us chomping eagerly at the bit for more news about Swordfish Studios' 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand for the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Sony PS3, then here's some news that have some good parts and potentially bad parts. But all in all, things are looking pretty good for Fiddy and his crew, as Swordfish Studios is pretty much doing things by the book in terms of game development.

So, good news first: the game will feature an online co-op mode that's pretty convenient. Described by..."
