"Sure, 2011 is in the rearview mirror, but that doesn’t mean we’re done looking back on the year. Sony recently its list of the year’s top-selling games and downloads on the PlayStation Network, and the titles on that list might surprise you — mainly because most of them weren’t released in 2011."

In this week's installment of Top 10 Tuesdays, Matt Beaudette of Gaming Irresponsibly counts down the top Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network games.

Castle Crashers finally landed on the PS3 and you can get the full review here at DualShockers. Find out what has been added and whether or not anything has been taken away.

"Two years ago (this very month, in fact), The Behemoth paid tribute to all of the beat-em-up arcade classics of yesteryear with its own take on the genre, the memorable Castle Crashers. Xbox Live users have enjoyed the game immensely since that time, despite online issues and occasional stumbles with its high difficulty. But what about PlayStation Network subscribers? Would they ever get a taste of the Castle’s goodness? Well, the good news is yes, it finally arrived on the PlayStation Network."

The Playstation 3 version of Castle Crashers contains 13 trophies compared to 12 Achievements on the Xbox 360. This guide will help you unlock all of them.

"Xbox Live Arcade is home to a lot of unique titles of all types of genres. The Spawn Kill crew fished for each of one of our favorite picks available on the marketplace that we’d recommend to our readers. As usual PopCap games sneak in and are some of our coveted addictions, but don’t be surprised if a zombie or explosionary icon sneaks up on you either. There’s a little something for everyone out there so check out our list of XBLA favorites and let us know what your favorite is!"

This guide will help you find all 28 animal orbs and, thus, unlocking the Animal Handler Bronze Trophy in the recently-released Playstation 3 version of Castle Crashers.

"Before officially starting this review let me get something out of the way: For $15 Castle Crashers on PSN is a steal! If you don’t already own it on Xbox Live…GET IT! Ok, now let’s get started.

I never owned Castle Crashers on Xbox Live. Was fortunate to have a friend and neighbor who purchased the game 2 years ago. We often played co-op games together and both found Castle Crashers an instant favorite. I took the Red Knight as he took the Green Knight and began our adventure to save..."

"Back when The Behemoth’s independent title Castle Crashers hit the XBLA more than two years ago, it was like peanut butter and chocolate. Seeing the artwork of artists paired with the beat-em-ups I grew up with brought a manly tear of joy to my eye back when it was released."

"Xbox LIVE Arcade has already taken in over $46 million this year according to analyst firm Forecasting & Analyzing Digital Entertainment, LLC (FADE) as the digital distribution of games continues to grow. Through the end of June, they forecast that sales on Xbox LIVE Arcade has 36% over the previous year thanks to special promotions like the LIVE Arcade Block Party and discounts on games."

"The Behemoth pledged today to donate 100% of all revenue generated by downloadable content (DLC) for their Xbox LIVE Arcade games Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid HD through January 24th directly to Haiti disaster relief. In addition, The Behemoth will match the amount generated by all DLC downloads, doubling the amount to be donated. All money raised will be donated to American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development."

"Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) really came into its own this year. From enormous adventures you can sink dozens of hours into to modest but addictive little puzzle games, Microsoft's downloadable game service has a wide variety of quality offerings.

We know this time of year there are a bunch of new Xbox 360 owners out there, so we've put together this list of the ten essential XBLA games you should download pronto. This is by no means a comprehensive list of everything the service has to offer,..."

"For a lot of you out there, the Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) offerings are either too expensive or not appealing enough to warrant inclusion in your game collection. Personally, I look at the XBLA games as a great supplement to any gamer’s repertoire, as well as an opportunity to boost one’s gamerscore by up to 200 points per game. I own about 18 arcade games, and a lot of them were bought cheaper than you’d expect, at discount (Xbox has a weekly special and a “discount” bin of arcade games)."

Castle Crashers developer, The Behemoth, recently confirmed that the Necromantic DLC will be "coming soon." But just how soon is "soon?" Apparently, tomorrow. Boot up your 360 and you can download the new DLC for 160 MS Points from the Marketplace.

The upcoming Castle Crashers Necromantic DLC pack will be offering quite a few things. Amongst them are two new characters; the Necromancer and the Cult Minion. A new animal orb, dragonhead, also comes with it. They've added two weapons as well; the NG Skull Mace and finally, the Chainsaw. The release date for the DLC is currently unannounced but will be "coming soon."

"Its rare, infact the roles are usually reversed when Xbox 360 loses an exclusive to the PS3. ...

The Behemoth have announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that the game will also be released on the PS3 (probably through the PSN store) and will be a playable version on the show floor. This version has not been dated, though it will include the PS3 Trophy system. Just imagine quaffing on a PS3 controller!"

"Castle Crashers has been one of the bright lights on Xbox Live Arcade since it was released last August. The stylized side-scrolling brawler offered a winning mix of solid action, quirky charm, and four-player co-op play. Unfortunately, PlayStation 3 owners haven't been able to get in on the fun--until now. The Behemoth is taking the wraps off of Castle Crashers for the PlayStation 3 at Comic-Con today, and showing off the first playable version of the upcoming downloadable title. We paid the..."

Major Nelson has posted the Live Activity for this week, summing up what is being played online in the gaming world for Xbox 360. I am amazed that despite the release of World at War, this does not hinder the CoD4 community from taking down everything that isn't Halo 3. Real football (FIFA) manages to beat out American football (Madden), and surprisingly, people are still playing Grand Theft Auto.

Much like Scamco has done in the past (many times), The Behemoth is offering you content that you have already paid for. Be an aware gamer and do not support this practice.

"...Eccentric British designer Edd China takes to the streets in one of his unusual inventions to set a brand new world record for the Fastest Mobile Gaming Rig. Fully roadworthy and complete with screens, water cooler and a phone, the office-like unit will be fitted with three fully powered gaming consoles during Edd’s inaugural drive around central London. "You know, its not that I don't like people. People are cool. I really do enjoy getting to know people in general. But for the most part, I don't want to participate in headset banter. In some circles, one might label me a jerk.

Don't get me wrong though. I'm not a complete tool. If I'm playing something that involves heavy strategy or tight verbal coordination, I'm throwing on the headset, no question. Call of Duty or Left 4 Dead would be a generally disastrous experience without voice cha..."

"In years past, NeoGAF has done their favorite moments in gaming, using only MS Paint to show you. Looking back at 2008 brings us some of the coolest moments, great memories that can look amusing to just plain epic, even when in Paint. I purposely left out the names of the games as half the fun is guessing (but if you can’t figure it out, right click and hit properties to see the file name where I put the game)."

"Good news o’ patient hack and slashers! Xbox Live Arcade’s Castle Crashers has finally received the title update that patches up the dreadfully unworkable online multiplayer and word is the online component is now running flawlessly."

So the gang here has held elections and are announcing our picks for games of the year. I am a bit disappointed some of my picks including Valkyria Chronicles (sleeper of the year IMHO), Braid, Mirrors Edge and The Witcher Collectors Edition didn't make the list along with Dead Space and an honorable mention for the episodic format of SIREN on PSN. That said, seeing Fallout 3 at # 1 made my year! GOTY folks, truly is.

Rini of has made a more heart felt top list in response to Thanksgiving Day. This list is made of some games to keep you and your family happy during the reunion.

Wario Ware: Smooth Moves topped the list with Wii Sports coming seventh. The Wii and Nintendo in general is finally getting recognised in a positive light for the casual gaming attitude.

"By playing with another person (or several other people) it introduces a host of new questions. How are spoils divided up? Who takes point during boss battles? Who chooses which area to go to next? Who farted? Suddenly, instead of just picking which knight you are going to be, you also get to pick what kind of player you are going to be."

Today I bring you horrible news, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader has now been released for the Xbox Live Arcade at the price of $15. How the mighty fun of XBLA has fallen because of this price uprising to crap quality ratio…. or has it? Could the pricing of this game end the reign of higher priced games or will XNA Community games cheaper prices do it?

Yahtzee goes in depth about the nostalga of retro-gaming and how it is affecting and influencing the current gaming economy. Tackling Castle Crashers, Bionic Commando and more in traditional Yahtzee fashion.

Castle Crashers, a side-scrolling game developed by The Behemoth, shall be getting a update that should fix the lost saved data bug, as well as multiplayer connection problems.

Even though the dev doesn't know when the update will be released, here is a suggestion which may help you retrieve your lost data.
