Gran Turismo 5 still is a ways away from being released, but can it possibly match or exceed expectations sales-wise from the previous installments? Each full installment has sold at least 9 million and Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec sold just shy of 15 million. However, GT5 is not alone, because Forza 3 is also set for release as well later on in the year.

"Sony announced today a major milestone for Polyphony Digital's banner racing series, Gran Turismo. The series has, as of May 9, crossed the 50 million shipment mark worldwide.

Remember the good ol' days of the original PSone? Remember when the PSone's choppy graphics wow-ed us all? In fact, Formula One drivers like Jarno Trulli (Toyota) and Kazuki Nakajima (BMW) have publicly admitted to having used Gran Turismo to train and learn the track layouts, as well as where to brake.
