Escort quests, something that has become insanely popular in games for the last two generations of consoles. Goozernation has put together a list of games with escort quests, include, ICO, Dead Rising, Resident Evil 4, and Enslaved, The problem here is there is no standard for games, most of the time the NPC is a useless burden and makes the game almost unplayable. Should developers due away with the escort missions? Should there be some sort of standard?

"Japanese author Miyuki Miyabe released ICO: Castle of the Mist, a novelization of the cult classic PlayStation 2 game ICO, in 2004. After seven long years, the novel is finally being translated and released in the US."

"I have a theory when it comes to ICO. I think most people just say they love it because they’re afraid of looking stupid. ICO is one of those games that people talk about “getting” as if there’s something deep and complex in there and I reckon that makes people too frightened to say that, really, ICO isn’t half as great as people say."

"Often over-looked until now, as Sony have seen fit to give Sly and the gang another chance via a HD re-release of the PS2 trilogy. Something even Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank are yet to receive. This is perhaps the only series on PS2 that started out great and got incredibly better each time, with the third game culminating in a blend of gameplay styles including platforming, stealth, aerial combat, puzzles, open-world environments, racing and more, all wrapped up in a delicious cell-shad..."

With PS2 classics like the Sly Cooper series and Team Ico's games being re-released for PS3, it looks like HD upgrades of classics games are here to stay. Here are five more collections that should be released on PS3.

At Tokyo Game Show 2010, Sony has released the first screenshots for the recently announced Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection for the Playstation 3.

"If the listing of an ICO / Shadow of the Colossus Collection on walmart.com earlier this week wasn't enough then the Swedish retailer Webhallen just tipped the tide with their recent listing. The release date indicated on the website is April 2011, this might be just a place holder.

They also posted a possibly mock-up box art of the game's HD collection. I sure enough would be very happy if this would be announced along with the Last Guardian later this week at Tokyo Game Show."

The table of contents for this week's issue of Weekly Famitsu has leaked onto the internet, ahead of this week's Tokyo Game Show in Japan. There are a few new games revealed by the leak: Valkyria Chronicles 3 will be for the PSP, a new title for the 360 and PS3 called Shadows of the DAMNED, and PS2 classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus will be seen again in some form on the PS3. New information is also available for the PS3's The Last Guardian and Ryu ga Gotoku of the End, the PSP's Tacti...

"Walmart's at it again. After MAG 2 they now have a listing for another PS3 exclusive release, and it's something that should prove quite interesting for fans of Team Ico.

The retailer's online arm not only has a listing for a Team Ico PS3 collection containing both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, they're actually accepting pre-orders for it. The release date is marked for 4/1/2011, so there's still the outside chance of it being a very early April Fools joke."

Cult video games are as impactful to gaming as cult movies are to film. These titles stand in a category of their own and have their own loyal following. These are the top 5 video games to garner a cult following.

"Rumors have swirled over the past month that Sony would release a "Team Ico Collection," with HD versions of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus on one Blu-ray for the PlayStation 3. Now Sony has commented on the matter for the first time, and while that comment sadly isn't a flat-out confirmation, it does raise hope as Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said they are "very aware" of the demand and interested in the prospect themselves.

"As soon as we released God of War in an HD colle..."

"Hate to say we told you so. But we told you so. Amazon France has listed the Team ICO Collection for June 2011 at €69.95.

We were previously been told that the pack is coming, and that it will include PS2 classics ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.

A further report cited it for a Q1 2011 release.

Sounds as though Sony’s very keen on the whole remix idea: SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said at E3 that more HD collections are being considered."

"Since the God of War collection was remastered on PS3 I’ve been thinking, there’s many more classics that were released on the PS2 that I would love to be released on the PS3 in high definition and include some trophies in there, that’s a dream come true. The God of War collection brought back some amazing memories while I played it. I’m sure you all know that feeling you get when you play a game you haven’t touched in years, it’s a really nice feeling. Anyway, here are the games that NEED to..."

Over the past decade, Sony has been quite active at creating new franchises for their Playstation platforms. Their stable of new intellectual properties are diverse and, more importantly, top notch in quality.

Fumito Ueda took some time to answer some fans questions, and one very popular question was if ICO and Shadow Of The Colossus would get the same treatement as God of War. That is, a collectors edition for the PS3. He said he wants to see those two games on the PS3, and lately he has been thinking about it, but no word if it will happen. I guess if there is anytime to blog like crazy, then its now.

"At DICE Summit Asia, Sony Japan Studio VP Yasuhide Kobayashi gave a speech about appealing to a global audience with games, which he identified as increasingly important as the Japanese market contracts. He mentioned The Last Guardian, which was given that particular title to appeal to Western markets.

As an example of Western-focused marketing that didn't work, Kobayashi presented the Japanese and North American boxes for ICO, the game that brought the Last Guardian developers to promine..."

Sony has pulled a brilliant move by re-releasing a the God of War series on Blu-Ray. Featuring HD and trophy support. The game will be released some time before the 3rd installment to help build up hype. This is a great move that a lot of other companies should follow. So, what other games should get re-released on the PS3. Follow the link to read on.

"A couple times over the past few years, we've decided to sit down and take a good, cold, hard look at the PlayStation 2's library and select the best of the best to let you know what our favorites were (and are). Even though the system is fighting with every last breath to stay alive, it's still surprising to us that new games continue to creep into our list. So, because it's been a while, we figured it was time to look at our picks again and update our choices for the best 25 PlayStation 2 g..."

"Before you expect a bias answer to the question above, I adore both types of graphical output, and you could never get me to decide between the two. Since I have remembered, my choice of console games haven’t just lay within the simplicity of seeing if it is good or not, but also the visual feast too. This may not always be the best way to go shopping for games, but some masterpieces are idolised by their gameplay, story and design, and then by their graphical output; the two prime examples b..."

It looks like some ICO goodies will be making an appearance in hit platformer LittleBigPlanet sometime soon, a teaser having just been released showing Yorda and Ico in Sackboy form. It could be fake, the image isn't exactly high quality, but it would certainly bring new publicity to both games.

The man behind Ico and Shadow of The Colossus, Fumito Ueda, was a special guest speaker at GDC today. He talked about about games made in the east vs. games made in the west. He also gave off hints at his new game, saying it will be more like Ico. Also, he said that he didn't feal the Shadow Of The Colossus was not the stepping stone of artistic games, and this new game will be.

Fumito Ueda, the creator behind Shadow Of The Colossus has been confirmed to be at GDC. But that doesn't mean we get to see Team Ico's new game, we might not even hear about it. But we still get to finally see it sometime this year, and what better time then E3. Team Ico has been confirmed to be present at the show and will show off their game.

In other news, God Of War 3 will be playable at E3 as well.

"Slapstic.com, in their usual sardonic tone, has delivered a follow-up to their widely appreciated “Top 100 Xbox 360 Games list!” over the last week. With handfuls of both questionable and gratifying releases included, author Ryan Rigney decisively whips true-shape into that short phrase both the PR blurb and ourselves in the media are guilty of pigeonholing videogames with; genre."

RUNNERS UP: Bioshock, Okami, Heart of the Alien, Beyond Good & Evil, the Metroid series, Mirror's Edge, and the works of Warren Spector. Just had to stop at some point. Okami and Heart of the Alien I don't find particularly fun (compared to others on the list), but both..."

Team ICO's project has been the highly anticipated but oddly silent title people have all been awaiting news on. And perhaps we will receive some tomorrow, as not only has the website been upgraded, but a community blog dedicated to the game say they have a surprise for tomorrow. They give two hints, A) that the info is a small thing, so don't expect a flood of info. And B) that some of this stuff we have seen already, some of it not. Expect more news soon.

"If there’s one thing that videogames do well – perhaps more so than any form of digital entertainment around – it’s immersion. The ability to suck in an individual not just through giving them complete control over their actions, but more pertinently, through the surroundings and awe-inspiring sights developers painstakingly carve and sculpt. It’s debatable that this sense of captivation has only progressed, with more talented designers getting more out of increasingly powerful consoles. And ..."

"2001 was a pioneering year for video games. Nintendo released it’s GameCube console, and Microsoft entered the video game market with the Xbox. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 2 continued to dominate the market while Sega announced that they would be pulling out of the console business, killing support for the Dreamcast to focus on software. On the handheld front, Nintendo released their Game Boy Advance.

Before the Dreamcast went away, though, it did see a few milestones. 800,000 people found ..."

Pelaajalehti.com recently held a poll for their people to decide the most beautiful video games of all time. Not all of the top ten received a warm welcome, with people believing many voters just chose their favourite or latest hype as opposed to the most beautiful games.

Is it your top ten?

The team behind the cult hits ICO and Shadow of the Colossus have been secretly working on another game for the PS3. They have launched a website that with the title "Ico 3: The Qyeen" (I spelled it correctly). This could the third game in the Ico universe, or a direct sequel. Rumors are also that they will show up at TGS and reveal this secret game. Team Ico keeps playing with our hearts.

"Sony worldwide studio head Shuhei Yoshida has given the clearest indication yet that the firm is ramping up to the announcement of Fumito Ueda’s next game, confirming to VG247 that the PS3 project will be shown “soon.”

“I cannot tell,” said the exec was asked specifically if the new Team ICO game will be shown at Tokyo Game Show this year.

“But I can say that they’ve been working very hard since the release of Shadow of the Colossus.

“Soon you’ll see.”

Go on. TGS. You know you wan..."

Team ICO are possible the most acclaimed developers for Sony, their work so good many gamers claim them as art, but there is a drawback to this, there games always take the longest and their latest project is no exception.

"I’m not feeling any pressure at the moment because time is not critical yet" team leader Fumito Ueda stated. Basically there not rushing and that is definitely a good thing but god damn I want this game bad.

"This is one of those rumors that appear to be quite thin on the surface, but as we so desperately want some news, we're inclined to tell ya about it: according to SCRAWL, they say a "truly...colossal secret" would be part of the issue. Obviously, this makes everyone think they're hinting at a project that relates to the fantastic SotC; perhaps a sequel of some kind. Of course, Resistance 2 will be the centerpiece for the August GamePro (they call it the "biggest game of 2008"), but the intere..."

Earlier today there was a news article aproved about a rumor that Team Ico was going to announce a game. With the website Teamicogamers.blog.com having a picture of a Colossi with the words "the Giants Are Coming" This quickly spread that they will anounce Team Ico's new game. Sorry to break the bad news for you but its just a primarily a feature in relation to SotC. Not a new game.

See what rumors do?

"There's a cryptic message over at Team ICO Gamers -- "The Giants are coming" with a tab in the upper-right of the website indicating only "February 10th". Does this have something to do with the next game by the developer? Or is it something much less exciting, like, say, a site redesign? They left it cryptic and vague, so we'll do the same by letting your imaginations run wild. Tomorrow we'll find out, we guess."

The first screenshot for ICO 3 has now been revealed. Sony just recently modified it's career section and replaced it's old sketches with this new one. Team ICO seems to be recruiting for new animators, planners, artists and effect designers.

There isn't anything else interesting revealed about the game, only this screenshot. What does everyone think?
