Pac-Man: Adventures In Time

Pac-Man: Adventures In Time

Gaming has hit a bit of a slump in terms of design and innovation. Endless sequels plague the release calendar, and will kill the industry. This isn't the first time that something like this has happened, but I welcome the fallout and eventual recovery that will come.

What's better than gaming and sexy time? Combining the two and getting PAID for it! Check out what Namco Bandai is doing to encourage their workers to engage in more "physical activities."

There's some damn spookiness going on. Joystick Division pontificates upon the importance of the paranormal within the world of video games while listing out the best ghosts to ever haunt the medium.

Video games make good Movies. Video Games also make good fake Movie trailers. They are hilarious and coming from video games you would never expect. So check them out!

"We all have our favorite video game character, right? But what character is the top character of all time? Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition (out now, $12.99 for ebook, $14.99 for print) chimes in with its Top 10, voted on by more than 13,000 fans on the Guinness website. And Mario takes the top spot.

Nintendo had 11 characters in the Top 50, followed by Sony and Capcom with six and five, respectively. Five characters came from the year 1966, followed by 1987, 2001 and 2007 with ..."

"We learned a lot of stuff from Ben Franklin, like the fact that if you're going to fly a kite, it's cooler to attach something metallic to the string and do it in a thunderstorm. Did Pac-Man teach us anything remotely as important?"

"It was inevitable. Seeing as how Crash Bandicoot, Mario, Sonic and Bomberman got their own party games, it was only a matter of time before Namco’s legendary Pac-Man character threw one of his own. Granted, this one’s actually his second, as Pac-Man Fever already made the rounds on the previous generation of consoles – with lackluster results. Sadly, Pac-Man Party isn’t really much different, save for the inclusion of motion controls and a plot so bad, it wouldn’t even fare that well on Pac-M..."

"We've selected the ten that most moved us. From lighthearted spoof trailers to high fidelity film novellas, we are offering the very best of the best for your entertainment. So crack open a beer, pop some popcorn, and enjoy."

"Human Pac-Man" is a video created by Guillaume Reymond. It took 111 people 4 hours to film. This is a fun video to watch as stop motion photography makes Pac-Man interesting.

Pac-Man just might be the most recognizable videogame character next to Mario, so seeing the yellow chomper in everyday life situations can be outright hilarious. The Kartel looks at some of the best videos featuring the videogame character in numerous, embarrassing situations.

"Sometimes when you care for something so much, you just have to put it all over your walls. Fans are almost never content with letting their hobbies occupy a closet or the top of their desks. We always want more. Well if you're one of those people, your day has finally come. I now present to you the ultimate nerd kitchen."

"The gaming industry has changed radically since Pong and Pac-Man were causing traffic jams at your local arcade. Most of the changes are for the good, some of them aren’t. It’s weird because we, as a nation, are no longer as innocent as we once were yet things that were commonplace back in the day are completely offensive to us. Can you imagine a big budget Hollywood “family” flick featuring underage drinking (The Goonies, Ferris Beuller’s Day Off, basically any Molly Ringwald movie)? Yet..."

What happens when you mix together two classic games into one single entity? VGB put together five amazing retro gaming mashups.

These videos parody what happens when you put the likes of Contra guy in the world of Duck Hunt, and Mortal Kombat's Scorpion in a Donkey Kong level.

"25 Things About Me: Pac-Man

1. I can eat just about anything, not just pac-dots! Wakka Wakka Wakka!

2. Pac-Man is my stage name while the official legal name is Puck-Man. I believe going with “Pac” rather than “Puck” was a good choice, don’t you?

3. Technically, dot-eaters are NOT out of shape because if you think about it, being “round’ is a shape!

4. I met Ms. Pacman on a blind maze chase, and after one good look at her in that cute red bow it was love at first sight!

5. Befo..."

"History has shown that video games and movies don’t mix. Games based off of movies are generally of lower quality, and movies based off of games are much, much worse. On the bright side, at least a few of the movies are of the so-bad-it’s-good variety. Gamers know the movies will always suck, and as such parody movie trailers of games that would make awful movies are prevalent in out fandom. We at The Gaming Dungeon are not rich or geographically close enough to do one ourselves; but we, if n..."

Allison Boyer enjoys finding video game related tattoos. The last time I posted one of her "Gaming Ink" blogs here on Grep was a Mario one. Since then she has posted a Halo Gaming Ink and Zelda Gaming Ink. This edition goes all to Namco's little yellow guy who existed way before they would charge for dots as DLC (and include them on the disc).

The Binge Gamer Villain Hall of Fame honors those who make just about every game possible---the bad guys. This second installment I like even better than the first recipient, Dr. Robotnik / Dr Eggman. Boo the Ghost wasn't in the first or second Mario game, but he has managed to be in nearly every one after.

This is Frenchman Remi Gaillard's hilarious video of a crazy costumed Pacman reenacting the classic game as innocent bystanders watch in shock.

What's that you say? Now I can play Pac-Man and sit on him? That's right!

QAYOT, an Italian designer, has been making Pac-Man furniture without Namco knowing! It could be argued it's not, considering they're not yellow and the pellets are diamond and not round... but a little suspicious don't you think? Don't let that stop you from enjoying your stain resistant fabric on the seats though!

Would you like some Pac-Man furniture?
