"Formed in 2009, En Masse is comprised of talented veterans whose collective portfolio reflects the most recognised and celebrated IPs from leading companies including Blizzard Entertainment, Microsoft Corp., Electronic Arts Inc., ArenaNet and NCsoft. The first official En Masse title scheduled for release in North America and Europe will be the highly anticipated MMORPG PC title, TERA."

"If ever a gaming genre has become a lightning rod for brow-knotting aphorisms, it’s real-time strategy. Conventional wisdom dictates that RTS has failed to crack the console market in this or any other generation, despite repeated attempts from talented teams, and its native PC home has been relentlessly attacked by pirates in recent years. It’s a two-pronged assault to which even the biggest names in games have apparently no answer, say the worriers."

Jim Sterling of destructoid.com reports about a child who took their video games experience and used it for good. Ryan Tyack had an obsession with Age of Empires, so at the cries for more healthy activity by his mum, started doing archery. He's now competing in the Australian Youth Olympic Festival.

The Academy of Arts & Sciences announced that they will be inducted Bruce Shelley into the Hall of Fame. The event will take place at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas on February 18, 2009.

Bruce Shelley is a veteran in the industry having worked with Sid Meier on the Civilization series and eventually became the creator of the Age of Empires series.

Tony Goodman, founder of Ensemble Studios, states:

Even though Ensemble Studios - a Microsoft-owned developer who is responsible for the Age of Empires series - is set to close soon, Phil Spencer, a general manager at Microsoft Game Studios, has revealed that the video game developer/publisher still intends to be a vital company in the industry.

"With Ensemble Studios set to close after Halo Wars is completed, many wondered what would happen with the historical real-time strategy series Ensemble was best known for: Age of Empires. In a move that might either comfort you or scare you, Microsoft has announced they've still got Age of Empire clutched to their bosom/in their death grip."

Ensemble, the world renowned developers behind the hit series Age of Empires. Will be dissolved by Microsoft on the completion of their current project. Halo Wars. While most of the employees will be forming a new development house the loss of a very old and skilled studio truly is sad.

Farewell Ensemble!

Another week has passed, which means it's time for some Australian game sales!

Mario Kart Wii has snatched the lead from the Wii Fit game, the Wii Play bundle is still selling steadily in third, followed by the oh-so-popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl and SingStar Amped.

Most of the games in the overall sales list are either the from the Wii or the DS. With all the success Nintendo has been having lately, I'm not surprised. To check out some console-specific sales, hit the source.
