Alan Wake's long-awaited PC version has been officially confirmed for a February 16th launch on Steam in a $29.99 standard version including the game and both DLC episodes as well as a $34.99 Limited Collector's Edition (LCE contents still to be announced).

Survival horror Alan Wake is coming out on the Steam platform in February. The game will not support Mac users, sadly, but will support both keyboard/mouse and controller inputs. Both Alan Wake DLC packs will also come bundled with the Steam release.

In part 4 of this series on storytelling in games, Matt Beaudette of Gaming Irresponsibly takes a look a few smaller elements used to tell stories in video games.

""Previously on The Backlog: I’d taken a job as a writer for a video game website where I offered pithy observations about old games. I had wanted to write a piece about how much I loved Alan Wake, the cult-hit Xbox game about an overly verbose writer who was trapped in one of his own stories. Unfortunately, the game didn’t fit in with the premise of my column. In The Backlog I was supposed to comment on games that I hadn’t gotten around to playing yet, but I’d already played Alan Wake ove..."

Tonight is Halloween and if you are finding yourself a little bored with the traditional movies, here are five spooky video games to play in order to honor the Halloween spirit.

NoobFeed.com celebrates Halloween in style. Playing dress up at the local convention can be a little intimidating or even embarassing, so here are some ways to support fan faovirtes without losing face or shedding clothes. It's cold this time a year, so we can't have people running around with no clothes on. Happy Halloween!

Halloween is here and Goozernation has a list of the top 10 scariest games to play. There are so many to choose from, Silent Hill 2, Dead Space, Alan Wake, Eternal Darkness, Condemned 1, Amnesia, as well as many others. Nothing like playing in a dark room with the surround sound cranked up.

Default Prime writer Kyree Leary turns the tables in this week's iteration of his column, The Catch-Up. Here are some possibly-missed games that he thinks you should make up for.

"Some say product placements are done in the name of realism. Others say they serve as a quick-and-easy moneygrab for publishers. Regardless of your stance, those that sloppily shove a product where it doesn’t belong manage to turn any immersive game into an infomercial of Michael Bay proportions, with a heaping helping of annoyance - at no additional charge."

"On this week's episode of the BonusEXP podcast Nick gives his in-depth impressions of Crysis 2 and Game Dev Story, Pat talks about his time with Shogun 2 - Total War and the Mortal Kombat demo, David raves at Civilization 5's DLC and trashes Dead Space 2's Severed DLC, Andy finishes up Alan Wake: The Writer and gives his analysis of the Marvel vs Capcom 3 patches, and we jointly discuss the merits and faults of Pixeljunk Shooter 2.

As usual we discuss the latest news in gaming including..."

"With a rock-steady online following and a much more impressive game library than they had in the last console generation, Microsoft has been doing quite well for itself the last few years. Though the Wii still reigns in sales, and the PS3 is steadily catching up, the Xbox 360 has held its ground like a Spartan II facing an army of suicide grunts. What many people see as a superior selection of exclusive franchises has helped it maintain a steady spot in the hearts of hardcore and casual gamer..."

There are good drunk and bad drunk. Though it's obvious that there's more bad drunks. Look at these top eight characters as they get loaded with liquor. Don't worry, these virtual characters can't die from intoxication.

"Frankly, 2010 was a pretty big year for gaming. Kinect and the Move opened the door to motion sensitive gaming for Microsoft and Sony respectively (though neither of which are on the list), and we experienced some amazing sequels as well as some brand new titles. We wanted to share what we think you should dash down to your store for if you find it's missing from your collection."

"Anyone with a Xbox LIVE subscription and a copy of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion can tell you how ridiculous DLC pricing can be. You may or may not have heard of the now-infamous Horse Armor Pack offered by Bethesda in 2006, containing nothing more than two sets of barding for your rarely-used animal companions. While the price of 200msp ($2.50) seems measly by today’s standards, it was a big deal at the time, as seen in this Joystiq article. It may have even been the catalyst for what would soo..."

The SideQuesting staff determine the top ten games of 2010, select a Game of the Year, and prepare for 2011's onslaught. Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Battlefield Bad Company 2 are discussed with considerable detail.

The podcast crew is Dali Dimovski, John Parie, Eric Smith, and Ryan Gan.

"In order to best present our favorite games, we are forgoing the traditional Top X Games of 2010. This is restrictive and divisive and doesn’t allow us to spotlight all the games we like, all in effort to create an artificial hierarchy. Instead, alphabetically, here are all the games we enjoyed from 2010."

"Fresh on the heels of 2010 the Bonus EXP crew catches up on missed games, and goes back to old favorites like: Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Monster Hunter Tri, Mass Effect 2, Halo Reach, Splinter Cell Conviction, Borderlands, Dark Void, Turok, Too Human, Red Dead Redemption, Greed Corp, Minecraft, VVVVVV, Mafia 2, Enslaved, Fluidity, and 9 hours 9 persons 9 doors. I think that covers it, yeah we talk about a lot of games wanna fight about it?

We also get to some gaming n..."

"I won’t lie: this gaming year has been a difficult one for OXCGN’s staff. (Cue violins). It seems most of us have had a hard time balancing a lack of time, a lack of money, and a lack of interest in the current crop of gamer’s games.

The general lack of innovation and proliferation of sequels in hard-core games in a difficult economic climate has seen many of us often turn to alternative (and often cheaper) gaming experiences like on smartphones or XBLA and PSN. (okay, kill violins).

Last week, Time Magazine published their annual top 10 video games list. This year's list is quite baffling as it includes several odd choices, arguable rankings, and leaves out many blockbuster titles. Their pick for Game of the Year is also surprising.

Finding the perfect gift for a gamer can be difficult, especially if you are trying to find it at the last minute. After all, there is nothing worse than getting a duplicate of a video game you already have! Here is a list of some less widespread and older games that would be perfect for Xbox 360 owners to help prevent that from happening.

Still need to shop for that Xbox 360 owner in your family or circle of friends this holiday season? Check out BrightHub's gift guide for more Xbox 360 gift ideas.

After you are done trick-or-tricking, there is nothing like turning out the lights, cranking up your surround sound, and popping in a scary video game to play through the night. With Halloween less than a week away, what are some horrific games worth your time this year?

"Alan Wake is still trapped in The Dark Place, and still wrestling to grasp the reigns of sanity in a realm where there seems to be none. As Wake narrates, “The environment grew wilder and stranger, like it wasn’t even bothering to pretend that things were normal.” The Bright Falls you knew is gone, and what remains is a fragile mockery, floating and twisting above an infinite chasm."

"Now before you get too excited...it's not a real game. Just a fun fan made video showing how Alan Wake would play out as a 16-bit (is says 8-bit but it's not) videogame. In all honesty, it seems very fun, and with a co-op mode, this could actually make for an entertaining game."

"As we have previously reported, Alan Wake's final DLC was revealed in an interview with Remedy's CEO. GTTV has posted a 'world exclusive' trailer for the final episode which is due to release on October 12th for 560 MSP points. 7 earth bucks seems to be a reasonable price for the content."

Alan Wake in 8-bit! Excited? Watch the video as it makes a very interesting Demake. Rest assured, the Xbox 360 Alan Wake game is far superior. Enjoy!

Alan Wake received great reviews upon release. With its TV series style structure, there was definitely an opening for additional "episodes" of the Alan Wake story to appear as DLC. The first episode of DLC is called "The Signal". John from All Age Gaming brings us his thoughts on whether "The Signal" adds anything to the great episodes included on the disk.

"Kmart stores this week began holding a new game sale that discounts select titles for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 to under $40.

Titles discounted to $39.99 include Alan Wake, Singularity, Lost Planet 2, 2010 FIFA World Cup, Call of Duty The War Collection, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Transformers: War for Cybertron, Blur, and Split / Second.

The titles typically sell at $59.99 each."

The slimmer and quieter new Xbox 360 S model should bring plenty of new consumers into the Xbox 360 universe. Of course, buying the system won’t mean much without purchasing some games as well. Here are the top 10 exclusive games to buy along with the new Xbox 360 S model.

"I always laugh when I hear a gamer say, “I don’t watch TV.” While those people clearly don’t understand that the best non-interactive content is on television, game developers most certainly do.
For several years now, television has had a growing influence on the game industry, which has begun to realize that the Nielsen leaders should be considered more than fodder for licensed gaming. The Lost, 24, Alias, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, X-Files and Prison Break video games were, if nothing else,..."

"The first DLC for the "psychological thriller", Alan Wake has arrived on Xbox LIVE in the form of The Signal. Gamers who bought their copy of Alan Wake new will have a coupon code in their case they can use to get the DLC for free. Everyone else will have to spend 560 MS Points ($7) to download."

"The deals this week are gift card heavy as both Target and Toys R Us are offering gift cards with the purchase of select games for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii. Meanwhile, GameStop kicks off their Power Saver Sale where you can get 10-50% off of select titles and free shipping. And, if you're looking for a new Xbox 360, K-Mart has a pretty good deal on a new Xbox 360 and Transformers: War for Cybertron."

2010 has been a stellar so far for the Xbox 360 with a lineup that contained great exclusive games and multiplatform titles. Here are the top ten games released for the system during the first-half of the year.

"There isn't a great number of deals this week but there are some smoking hot deals available for NCAA Football 11 and Dragon Quest IX. K-Mart in particular has some great deals on the two new releases and a deep deep discount on Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker, Alan Wake, and Singularity. Target is also offering a great discount on other EA games with the NCAA Football 11 and Toys R Us is offering gift cards with Dragon Quest IX and the DSi XL."

Alan Wake and the residents of Bright Falls seem to have a dirty mouth on them. We listened to their conversations and just HAD to bleep out the foul and horrible things that came out of their mouths.

"NPD delayed their North American video game sales results for a couple of weeks while they upgraded their systems. When they finally did release them last night, it was to general disappointment as the games industry saw a drop in sales by 5% compared to May of 2009 and so far is down 10% for the year so far compared to January. Outside of Red Dead Redemption for the PS3 and Xbox 360, no publisher or console had much to crow about for the month of May. However, these five games were partic..."

"Remedy was already talking about plans an Alan Wake sequel before the game was even released back in May. However, while the game's developers are raring to go with a sequel, Microsoft is taking a more cautious approach with the sequel for the psychological horror game."

"The entire game is put together like a TV series, with each major event comprising it’s own “episode”. It seems like an odd concept to begin with, but the format fits the rest of the game so snugly that you’ll be on board before the end of the first episode. Alan’s voice constantly relates his own experiences to the player, but where in other games I would find this kind of narration grating, here it’s just another aspect of the TV drama setting."

The top ten best-selling games overall for the month of May on Amazon. Also included are individual charts for Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 games.

Today's Yahtzee review covers the Remedy-made Alan Wake -- a little horror, a little mystery...the game has been said to have its features trimmed considerably since being switched to a 360 exclusive, but does it still hold up? Head to the source to see what he thinks.

All Age Gaming's Daniel Emmerson takes a look at Remedy Entertainments Phycoligical action-thriller, Alan Wake. Is Remedy's game a thrill ride not to be missed or one that is best left in the dark? Read on to find out.

Aside from March, May was easily the biggest month in 2010 so far in terms of quality new releases. Here are the top ten titles that were released in the past month.

"Let's get this out of the way right now: The only reason I don't have more game consoles hooked to my TV is because I'm out of ports on the back for cables to plug into, and I don't want to have to get off the sofa to switch over. I've been playing video games since the Carter administration. So do not compare me to Roger "I never play video games yet dismiss them as worthless" Ebert here. Just... don't. I would have taken my SNES as my date to senior prom if they had let me.

But the thing..."

"When Alan Wake was first announced at E3 2005 my interest was definitely raised in the title and its potential. After nearly five years of development time Alan Wake has finally seen the light of day, after completing the game I can say wholeheartedly that the wait was definitely worth it."

"There is nothing to fear but the huge axe wielding maniacs in the shadows !!
Alan Wake is the star of the new game from Finish development team Remedy. Yes the guys who brought us Max Payne back in 2003 and introduced use to bullet time all those years ago. This xbox 360 exclusive has been a long time coming although the game has been finished for a while now, Remedy not content with rushing it’s release held back to continue to polish the final product and it has been worth the wait. What ..."

GameZone's Dakota Grabowski explores the casting possibilities of an Alan Wake Hollywood film adaptation with stars such as Viggo Mortensen, Tom Wilkinson, and Bryce Dallas Howard

"So. Alan Wake. The story of the game’s development is almost as interesting as the game itself – a twisting tale of extended production, major design changes, exclusivity deals, removal of the PC version and numerous E3 showings that each displayed a seemingly different game.

Developer Remedy has certainly been through the wringer in bring their ambitious vision to our screens, from being one of the first games announced for the 360 to releasing when most other games are already on their s..."

"Alan Wake was originally announced for the Xbox 360 when the console itself was first announced, since then the game was hardly talked about until last year’s E3 where gameplay was finally shown and a release time frame was given. The protagonist of the game Alan Wake starts the story off as a famous author who has had trouble writing for the past two years."

This week we a big hit sequel, prequel, new franchise and a game way over do. All big across all platforms to keep everyone entertained. Check out what's on your list this week.

"One would assume that video games which fall into the ‘thriller’ genre could potentially lack a capacity to thrill you. Alan Wake steps in as the latest psychological action thriller made especially for the Xbox 360, but will it manage to provide us with all the intentions that it’s promised? Continue reading and you’ll find out."

Alan Wake launches in North America today and Amazon has prepared a special deal for those who will be buying the Xbox 360 exclusive game from the web site.

"Red Dead Redemption wannabe owners should keep an eye out on their local Toys R Us this Tuesday as they will have a $25 Gift Card available with purchase of the game. However, the deal is time limited and you have to be a Rewards R Us member. K-Mart and Amazon also are offering Gift Cards for this game."

"Difficult week of games this week but not because there is a lack of new titles to choose from. There is actually a number of tough choices this week for just about every game platform."

"The unexplainable events that occur in the small town of Bright Falls are haunting novelist Alan Wake. After a long writing drought the author decides to go on an inspirational vacation to the tranquil small town on the northern Pacific coast of Washington. But things aren’t as peaceful as they would seem. Almost immediately after arriving, Wake’s wife, Alice, goes missing after he blacks out. Alan wakes up in a wrecked car a week later, and what’s even weirder is his discovery of a series o..."

"Hold on to your Alan Wake token card found inside each new copy of Alan Wake to receive the first add-on episode. The episode titled “The Signal” will be available July 27, 2010 on Xbox LIVE."

Brian Rowe, video editor, has put together his full video review of Microsoft's Alan Wake that determines if this Xbox 360 exclusive title is hit or miss.

May is shaping up to be the biggest gaming month yet in 2010 aside from March. Here are the top ten most anticipated games slated for release thus month.

It's seemed far too long since our first meeting with Alan Wake as a teaser trailer an infamous age ago. Ebbing away from the shadows now and into the light makes the wait for psychological horror fans a reward of patience, with great storytelling, tense combat and gives the genre a little boost in the right direction.

"The fourth episode in the Alan Wake series of live-action prequel promotional movies is now available for your viewing pleasure. "Local Flavor" see a despondent Jake trying to deal with being stuck in Bright Falls for longer than he wants. This results in another blackout and Jake again waking up somewhere unexpected."

With games like Heavy Rain and the upcoming Alan Wake featuring great story's, All Age Gaming's Michael Brennan discusses whether we are entering a time in gaming where a game has to feature a great story for it to truly grab the gamer.

"No, Alan’s most effective weapon is his flashlight. That’s right, I said flashlight. Every enemy Alan encounters is covered in a shroud of black smoke that can only be removed by light. When enough light shines on an organic enemy, the shroud disappears and they can be killed with conventional weapons."

"Few games have the winding life cycle that survival-horror Alan Wake has, coming exclusively to the Xbox 360 from developer Remedy Entertainment and publisher Microsoft Games. It was announced at E3 2005, swerving in and out of the gaming news mainstream for the past 5 years like a roller coaster. Originally meant to be a Windows Vista PC title, it was revealed in February of this year that Alan Wake would be coming exclusively to the Xbox 360 gaming platform, and what a great thing that ende..."

"The third episode in the Alan Wake series of live-action prequel promotional movies is now available for your viewing pleasure. "Lights Out" continues to set the creepy tone in the Bright Falls series as Jake wakes to find himself somewhere that he didn't fall asleep."

"It's been a long wait for Remedy Entertainment's Alan Wake, an action-thriller about a writer in search of his missing wife. The studio that built Max Payne and Max Payne 2 first talked about it back in 2005. In the years that followed the title seemed to fade into darkness. There was speculation about whether it would ever be finished and shipped at all, which all screeched to a halt at E3 2009 when the game was demoed at Microsoft's press briefing.

With a rapidly approaching release dat..."

This week in All Age Gaming' The Week That Was we discuss worldwide Xbox 360 sales, new Halo Reach info including the different retail versions it will release in, our own Alan Wake hands-on and Remedy Q&A, Gran Turismo 5, Vidzone TV, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and more.

"Brief translation from the Alan Wake forums:

- Some NPC seem to be hiding something and some are really creepy. We need to explore the whole town and forest to find all the book pieces, and collectible objects.

- Story is spread in episodes and each one will give a twist to the main theme like "Lost" wich left us glued to the game.

- At the begining of each episode we will see a brief of the previous chapters. The game has a movie feeling; from the sound, dialogue, the characters, th..."

All Age Gaming's Ian Crane went to an invitation only dinner on Tuesday night that was hosted by Microsoft and featured special guests Remedy Community Manager Peter Papadopoulos and Managing Director Matias Myllyrinne. Along with other community site members, Ian had some hands-on time with the latest build of Alan Wake and was able to ask the guys from Remedy a few questions.

The trailer for the live-action prequel of Alan Wake is now out and it definitely sets a creepy tone for the short movie series that is coming out next week. It may even get in your head.

Alan Wake spent some time here in Sydney recently, well, not Alan Wake personally, but the developer who brought him and the game to life.

Over here to help promote the game, and ended up participating in some experiments as well. SO slip over to the site, check out the final community night dinner, as well as some of the info on the unique experiment using Alan Wake.

"Alan Wake is ready to creep everyone out in May and Microsoft is launching a series of six live-action short movies to promote the game. The "Bright Falls" series will debut on Xbox Live for Gold subscribers on April 25 and Xbox Live Silver subscribers on April 26. The first episode will be available to everyone on Brightfalls.com on April 27. A new episode will be released every week after until the two concluding episodes are released on May 27."

"Balancing a compelling storyline with non-linear gameplay has always been the biggest challenge developers face when creating an open world game. Sometimes a compromise is made, such as side missions that don't interfere with the main plot (Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed 2). But, more often than not the story is simplified, sacrificed on the altar of player freedom."

"Alan Wake has been down a bumpy road since it was first announced in the summer of 2005. That's given Remedy Entertainment a while to map out the story of Alan Wake before the game is even released in mid-May for the Xbox 360. In an interview with Joystiq, Remedy's Oskari 'Ozz' Häkkinen brought up not only Alan Wake 2 but the DLC plans for the series too."

Late last year some were saying that 2010 could be the biggest in gaming history and it certainly is shaping up that way. So, John from All Age Gaming sat down and compiled a list of the Top 10 games in the first half of 2010 (1st January to 30 June 2010). If the second half of 2010 is going to be better, then we are in for one hell of a treat!

All Age Gaming's John Elliott brings us the 3rd developer profile. This fortnight he looks at Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment. See inside for a look inside the developer of one of the most anticipated games of 2010.

What did Remedy use to make upcoming Xbox 360 game, Alan Wake? A little bit of inspired thriller and mystery, some unique light game mechanics, and interesting characters.

"What a nice surprise! A game that has been in development for goodness knows how many years will now launch on Friday 14th May, a week before it’s original proposed date.
“Fans in Europe have been crying out to get their hands on Alan Wake since it was first announced and we’re thrilled to be able to deliver it to them early,” said Stephen McGill, Director of Xbox & Entertainment."

"While Microsoft may have mistakenly placed four older screenshots of Alan Wake as part of a set of five new images released from Ruffian Games’ forthcoming Crackdown 2 today, the follow-up is a little more reliable. Though very similar to some previously released screenshots, Microsoft Game Studios has today made available four new images from the highly-anticipated Alan Wake."

"Microsoft's driving mantra for 2010 seems to be quality over quantity. With only three major titles on tap for the Fall (and only two others in the Summer), the publisher looks to be putting all of its eggs in a Natal-shaped basket. But with Halo: Reach, Alan Wake and a Perfect Dark remake marked down on the calendar, no one can say that Microsoft's 2010 will be boring."

"The gaming year for 2010 started off with a bang and the rest of the year is looking to stay just as hot with new releases. With many games announced for the remainder of the year, let’s take a look at the ‘Top 5 Games’ that will release in the remaining months of 2010, that are known thus far."

"Video games have much in common with movies when it comes to scare tactics. Both rely heavily on music and sound effects to create suspense and atmosphere. EA Redwood Shores' 2008 sci-fi horror gem Dead Space is a prime example, taking home awards for Audio of the Year and Sound Design of the Year at the seventh annual Game Audio Network Guild Awards. And, as anyone who's played the game can tell you, those awards are richly deserved. From the disturbing audio logs of the U.S.S. Ishimura's cr..."

"With all of these odd and intriguing factors that contributed to the creation of Alan Wake, it's no wonder fans have been excited for it to finally be released. After all, we've been waiting for almost 5 years, now. Hopefully the wait's been worth it."

The upcoming spring season will be a great time for Xbox 360 gamers. This is especially true when it comes to great exclusives (console or otherwise) slated for release from March through May.

"You can make a pretty convincing argument that Alan Wake is nothing like Uncharted 2. It's a horror game, for one thing -- though I think the developers prefer the term "thriller." One title takes itself very seriously; the other less so. One also relies heavily on light/dark gameplay mechanics (which are absent in the other), and takes place in a completely different location than the other.

But when I got my hands on the game at a Microsoft press event last week, I found myself noticing ..."

"Alan Wake's been coming for a long time. Six years to be precise. But when Remedy Entertainment started development on the highly anticipated title, they didn't realise that six months later, all would be thrown away and started again.

Why? Well in an interview with GI.biz, Remedy managing director Matias Myllyrine says it was due to one big mistake:

quote
"We did make one big mistake, and we came back from that - it was trying to make a sandbox structure to a thriller, and that just rea...
"

"With Microsoft’s X10 expo behind us I thought it would be a great time to look at the top 5 Xbox 360 exclusives to be released during the Spring 2010 window. Each one of these triple-A titles are can be found only on the Xbox 360 console and will undoubtedly be some of the top-rated games of the entire year. How does this list stack up to those exclusives found on Sony’s Playstation 3, personally I believe the Xbox 360 has a stronger Spring line-up but that is all a matter of opinion. Either ..."

"Naysayers may say that Microsoft has blown its load and 2009 was a glimpse into the future of the fall of popularity for the Redmond, Washington based company in the console space. Well, Microsoft isn’t going to go out without a fight and 2010 is shaping up to be a much better year for the console than 2009 was."

"The story of Alan Wake will play out in an episodic format, with a television show-style presentation. The enemies, known as the Dark Forces, are sensitive to light, encouraging the player to take advantage of environmental light sources and placing significant emphasis on the flashlight as a primary weapon. Players will also have the ability to set traps that illuminate when triggered, either damaging or temporarily immobilizing an enemy."

""We were constantly trying different gameplay elements to see which would end up in the game and which would work well together," said Lake.

"Certainly, there were prototypes we tested and were not happy with that didn't end up as part of what Alan Wake is.

"For example, early on we tried out sandbox elements. With them we were constantly running into situations where we had to [endure] big compromises in our thriller pacing and our thriller storytelling. At the end of they day we decid..."

"A new trailer for Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake has surfaced today, acting as an introduction to the story for those not yet familiar with the forthcoming Xbox 360 exclusive. Currently expected to arrive globally this May, Alan Wake is a Psychological Action-Thriller from Remedy, the renowned developers of the successful Max Payne series."

A few days ago, it was announced that the PC version of Alan Wake had been cancelled.

But it seems fans aren't going to take the news lying down and have started a petition, asking Microsoft to reconsider putting the game on PC. The petition has already attracted over 13,000 signatures in just two days.

Sign the petition here.

In the past, Remedy revealed plans to make Alan Wake a long-running series and assured gamers that it will have a "conclusive and satisfying ending".

But it seems they haven't exactly figured out what that ending will be...

A brand new trailer for the upcoming horror-thriller title Alan Wake was revealed at this year's X10 and it looks absolutely stunning...

• Dead Rising 2 will release in North America on Aug. 31, Japan on Sept. 2 and Europe on Sept. 3.

"In this long-awaited exclusive Xbox 360 title, fill the shoes of one Alan Wake, a man who makes his living from the terror of others as a best-selling suspense novelist. Trapped in the deceptively peaceful Washington town of Bright Falls, where he came to escape the trauma of losing his fiancée, Alan must piece together a mystery to prevent himself from being trapped inside a nightmarish world forever."

"Microsoft's very own Major Nelson just tweeted a couple hints at what games we can expect to see on the show floor of it's press-only event tomorrow night, known as X10 - the list has a couple surprises in it and is not all-inclusive. His tweets, along with our guesses of what each game in the list stand for is below; did we crack the correct code? We have been told that there are other titles, not on this hint-list, that will be announced at tomorrow's event."

Keep in mind they don't cover every game. Just those they deem will be either good or interesting.

"Psychological adventure Alan Wake will be the closest thing that gaming has ever come to a top-notch TV thriller.

That's according to Microsoft, who this week told CVG that the Xbox 360 and PC title would "blur the lines" between TV and gaming - and reiterated that the much-delayed game was on track for a spring release."

"Remedy Entertainment stirred the hype when they announced Alan Wake in 2005 as an exclusive for XBox 360. Since then, the game has undergone numerous delays and re-workings in both the main character’s appearance and the overall art-style of the game. A release date of 2010 has been announced but until then, check out how the game has undergone it’s transformations in ..."

""It's been since 2005 so it's - we've be crafting this thing and for us I mean we could've put something out much earlier to be honest uh, and it would've been probably okay, but for us um, we only want to come out with a game when we have something to say and a point to make so when gamers put down their hard earned cash on a game the Remedy brand on that box needs to be a seal of quality so they're getting a certain movie like experience with good story and a good character - that really is..."

"We get some game announcement that attracts our attention, or perhaps some images or video footage, and then the game simply… disappears? The most famous example in gaming, of course, is Duke Nukem, but there have been a number of titles this generation that have ‘gone walkabout’ as we say here in Oz and I’m hoping that some of them reappear at this year’s E3, now less than a month away.

"So the Game Developers Conference’s 09 (GDC’s) brought a couple of surprises so far. A new Zelda for the DS, third party motion controls for 360, a new Ratchet & Clank for our PS3 comrades, and the entry of Warner Bros to the fray that may well have had fanboys disorientated and asking “Errr… what’s up doc?”

But where’s the goods from Microsoft? Some would lead you to believe that Microsoft has announced its full line up just like they had this time last year… oh yeah, that’s the problem…

Sometime I like to refer to a game keeping a low profile, not releasing any news, trailers or screenshots. But Alan Wake is the king of low profile games. It's profile is so low its 6 feet under.

But a recent competition confirms that Alan Wake is not dead and will be appearing at TGS (Tokyo Game Show) in some shape or form. The reward for the contest being the honor of digitally being put into the 360 game and getting a free ticket to TGS.

The annual Top Ten Vaporware Games of 2007 went up recently, and looking from the list, most of the winning games are PS3 titles--more specifically, PS3 titles that are yet to be released. Well, the rules for this list don't exactly follow the ones of the usual ones. The major one being that the games don't need to have a 2007 release date on it. However, for it to make the list it needs to have attained a certain level of "hype."

And it's no surprise that the No.1 on this list is the much...
