Animal Crossing: City Folk

Animal Crossing: City Folk

"It has been an impressive week for sales with Memorial Day just passing and game companies pushing to get sales up for the start of summer vacation. Amazon is keeping the sales coming with their newest offer of buy one get one free Nintendo games. The sale is only good while the products last, and they are going very quickly with less than 20 of each game left."

"It’s a brand that’s long in the tooth and beloved by many, but Animal Crossing has been the very same thing from the very beginning, and it’s long overdue for a change. Joe Fourhman and I have put some thought into what’s right and wrong with Animal Crossing and put together some thoughts on how it can become what it should have been all along."

Nintendo is known for some of the best video game franchises in the history of the industry. This past decade saw the debut of many great new franchises from them.

BestBuy.com is offering several Nintendo Wii video games on sale this week at the best prices online or in stores. Games include Metroid Prime: Trilogy, Collector's Edition for $19.99, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games for $29.99, EA Sports Active for $49.99 and more. See complete for details.

"Ah, marriage. Once a gamer friend, Mr. or Mrs. Couple has now been tied in the bounds of matrimony and you are wondering if you should still get them the same types of games as in years past. Or, maybe, you are married to a non-gamer and are looking for a way to bring them into gaming this holiday season. Also, avid gamers marry other avid gamers and buying a gaming present for a love that has the same interests as yourself can be difficult. Never fear because Spawn Kill’s Holiday Gift Guide ..."

"Celebrate Germany's annual festival with the traditional dirndl dress available for download this week in Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City. For a limited period only you can pick-up the design for this fabulous attire in Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City for Wii."

"Please note that one of the players living in the village must speak to Rover on the bus to the city after finishing their part-time job. Rover will only appear to speak with the first player in the village to go the city. If user-to-user communication is restricted in the Parental Controls settings of your Wii console, you will be unable to participate in this offer."

Captured on Japanese TV, there's a video now on Youtube for the "Eyebrow Dog", which looks a lot like Animal Crossing's K.K. Slider/Totakeke.

Play me a song!

At last year's E3, Nintendo promised us a variety of things, such as a Shaun White exclusive, a new Animal Crossing game, and more Mario and Zelda. Kotaku has reviewed each and every one of those promises and tells us if Nintendo kept them.

"According to our research, Super Smash Brothers Brawl is the Wii game that collects the least amount of dust. But two other games are surging toward top status.

Since September of last year I've been tracking the usage stats for top Wii games. Earlier reporters are at MTV Multiplayer. Today, I bring the concept to Kotaku, with some tweaks.

Where's all this from? (AKA an explanation of the above chart for stat junkies only): In a move somewhat surprising for the generally secretive compa..."

The Bender for this week is up, we touch on some serious topics that might affect the way games are made, including "The Path" which alludes to rape, Animal Crossing which leads to pedophilia (yeah right), and what developers can do to maximize the audience they offer their games to...plus all the gaming news of the week. Andy Anderson, a detective in the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force, has recently claimed that "there is no reason an adult should have Animal Crossing: City Folk," because the adults who buy these types of games are "likely doing it for the wrong reasons".

Mr. Resetti is a beneficial little addition by Nintendo to the latest Animal Crossing game for the Wii. He is, however, said to be quite scary! So much in fact, Nintendo has put a warning with him to parents that he might scare their children!

Is that a smart move for a feature which is supposed to help them learn about the importance of saving your game? Let us hope it scares them into it.

The launch of both will help Nintendo to create new social gaming experiences for all. From today you can also experience the full benefits of Wii Speak with the launch of Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City for Wii which comes bundled with the game..."

When 14 copies of Animal Crossing: Wild World were sent out to MTV Multiplayer and Kotaku by Nintendo, they weren't expecting a "strong racial slur" to be repeated during conversations with in-game character Barbara, but that's what happened. Nintendo has issued an apology on the matter, explaining it got in the game via the wireless function. Interesting..wouldn't someone from the company had to have been the source?

Well, it's only as "bad" as the photo you see here, one could suppose..

Just a couple of days ago a commercial for Animal Crossing: City Folk was being shown. Now there's in fact another one! It's just a shame that it makes the other one look good... Could the advertisements lose sales?

"How do you know when a gaming peripheral isn't expected to have a long and healthy life? When the company behind the latest gizmo goes out of its way to make it inoperable right out of the box. Consider Nintendo's new WiiSpeak microphone that comes packed in with Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii. Nintendo seems to be trying to discourage sales of secondhand WiiSpeak units as MTV's Stephen Totilo surmises."

"When the fine folks at MTV unpackaged the game (Animal Crossing), they were shocked to discover a 16-digit confirmation code that owners have to input in order to download the Wii Speak Channel.

Curious, MTV contacted Nintendo about the code and were told that the Wii Speak Channel will not be available for purchase, and that the only way to unlock it is to input the confirmation code. The peripheral will still work for in-game chatting, though."

Animal Crossing: City Folk is just the latest game in the ever expanding Animal Crossing series. It'll be coming out on the Nintendo Wii in Europe and Australia soon, while it's already on the shelves for Japan and North America.

Here's a simple advertisement to promote the game with a little bit of gameplay shown:

"Be puzzled by mind bending brain teasers as you aim to uncover the mystery of Professor Layton and the Curious Village at all NintendoDS locations, see live demonstrations of the highly anticipated Wii Music and take a trip to the city in the all new Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City , both at selected Wii locations..."

What do gamers do when people in America are going to the booths to vote? They hold their own elections, for video game characters of course!

Take your pick from the likes of Sackboy, Tom Nook... and even 12-Pack! Even gamers like a good old beer now and then, right? Each candidate has a badge, their promises and their slogan.

So who gets your vote?

It seems some new screens for Animal Crossing: City Folk have emerged this weekend. Fans of the series rejoice - it looks like the same campy graphics and gameplay that you have grown to know and love.

With the two press conferences dominating the first day of the Nintendo Conference/Media Summit yesterday, the rest is being devoted to the games. Nintendo has issued a press release detailing some of the games to look for in its holiday lineup in the US, along with a glimpse at some of the 2009 releases.

The major notable is that there will indeed be a WiiWare version of the cult-favorite PC freeware adventure Cave Story. The Wii Speak Channel will also launch Nov. 16, when Wii Speak is...

"Trust me when I say that using the Wii remote to enter text, specifically a lot of text, can be a real pain in the ass. Trust me, I know, being forced to use my Wii Opera browser for my web-surfing needs when my computer was in the shop.

However, at least there's a solution in USB keyboards, and it seems that solution will extend to Nintendo's upcoming holiday title, Animal Crossing: City Folk. I don't yet have a USB keyboard, and after this last instance with the computer, I should proba..."

Straight from the Nintendo Fall Press Conference is the montage reel that was played that showcased the various upcoming Wii games. This is the same reel that announced these games.

"Animal Crossing: City Folk
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Nintendo
Release Date: November 16, 2008
Genre: Simulation

You can walk with the animals and talk with the animals all over again starting November 16, as Animal Crossing: City Folk updates Nintendo's stalwart "communication game" for a new hardware generation. Like Animal Crossing: Wild World before it, City Folk seeks to take the GameCube original Animal Crossing and enhance it with new graphics, features and characters. And, ..."

After being given the rating of G, Animal Crossing: City Folk received a name change in Australia.

The name change is.... Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City.... rather pathetic really.

Can the new lame name affect sales? Or will it be just as big upon release later this year?

"10. The "PSP Brite's" non-existent battery problem

When Sony announced the PSP-3000, it seemed like a nice little incremental update to the platform. Sure, the brighter screen and tweaked cosmetics wouldn’t lure many existing owners into a repeat purchase, but it would help keep the aging platform relevant.

But within just a few days of its announcement, it came out that in one key way the “PSP Brite” would actually be a downgrade over existing models: battery life. In an interview with..."

"Our editor-in-chief has just sent along some information fresh from Nintendo's presentation at the GameStop manager's conference in Las Vegas, where the Big N has been discussing Animal Crossing: City Folk and its Wii Speak peripheral. For those of you excited about yet another fruit collecting simulator, we can now reveal how much cash you'll need to scrape together.

According to Nintendo's presentation, City Folk and Wii Speak will be bundled together for $69.99 when it ships this Novem..."

"Remember when Nintendo said that Animal Crossing City Folk and Wii Speak would be sold separately? Well, that has now changed.

Our tipster has told us that there will indeed be a bundle for those that want to Wii Speak it up with City Folk."

Animal Crossing: City Folk was announced for the Wii by Nintendo at E3 2008, and now there is a bunch of new information for it. When you are in the city using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, your character will be joined by other animals going about their daily business. There will be a friend codes system if you want to meet up with friends and chat there, and also, if you go to the Auction House over Wi-Fi, then you'll be able to bid on items that other players own.

You'll be able to take pi...
