Animal Crossing: City Folk

"It has been an impressive week for sales with Memorial Day just passing and game companies pushing to get sales up for the start of summer vacation. Amazon is keeping the sales coming with their newest offer of buy one get one free Nintendo games. The sale is only good while the products last, and they are going very quickly with less than 20 of each game left."

BestBuy.com is offering several Nintendo Wii video games on sale this week at the best prices online or in stores. Games include Metroid Prime: Trilogy, Collector's Edition for $19.99, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games for $29.99, EA Sports Active for $49.99 and more. See complete for details.

"Celebrate Germany's annual festival with the traditional dirndl dress available for download this week in Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City. For a limited period only you can pick-up the design for this fabulous attire in Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City for Wii."

At last year's E3, Nintendo promised us a variety of things, such as a Shaun White exclusive, a new Animal Crossing game, and more Mario and Zelda. Kotaku has reviewed each and every one of those promises and tells us if Nintendo kept them.

Andy Anderson, a detective in the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force, has recently claimed that "there is no reason an adult should have Animal Crossing: City Folk," because the adults who buy these types of games are "likely doing it for the wrong reasons".

"Today, 5th January 2009, is officially the twelfth day of Christmas. Most of you are probably back into your usual daytime routine by now, and are looking for something to entertain you during those long winter nights. The Twelve Games of Christmas is a feature series that has been run on each of the twelve days of Christmas here at Electronic Theatre, looking at the disc-based European releases of 2008, and selecting the best performers of each month. Today is the final instalment, and so it..."

Mr. Resetti is a beneficial little addition by Nintendo to the latest Animal Crossing game for the Wii. He is, however, said to be quite scary! So much in fact, Nintendo has put a warning with him to parents that he might scare their children!

Is that a smart move for a feature which is supposed to help them learn about the importance of saving your game? Let us hope it scares them into it.

"Today sees the launch of an exciting new communications tool, as Nintendo launches the innovative Wii Speak accessory and its associated communications portal, the Wii Speak Channel. The launch of both will help Nintendo to create new social gaming experiences for all. From today you can also experience the full benefits of Wii Speak with the launch of Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City for Wii which comes bundled with the game..."

When 14 copies of Animal Crossing: Wild World were sent out to MTV Multiplayer and Kotaku by Nintendo, they weren't expecting a "strong racial slur" to be repeated during conversations with in-game character Barbara, but that's what happened. Nintendo has issued an apology on the matter, explaining it got in the game via the wireless function. Interesting..wouldn't someone from the company had to have been the source?

Well, it's only as "bad" as the photo you see here, one could suppose..

"When the fine folks at MTV unpackaged the game (Animal Crossing), they were shocked to discover a 16-digit confirmation code that owners have to input in order to download the Wii Speak Channel.

Curious, MTV contacted Nintendo about the code and were told that the Wii Speak Channel will not be available for purchase, and that the only way to unlock it is to input the confirmation code. The peripheral will still work for in-game chatting, though."

"Trust me when I say that using the Wii remote to enter text, specifically a lot of text, can be a real pain in the ass. Trust me, I know, being forced to use my Wii Opera browser for my web-surfing needs when my computer was in the shop.

However, at least there's a solution in USB keyboards, and it seems that solution will extend to Nintendo's upcoming holiday title, Animal Crossing: City Folk. I don't yet have a USB keyboard, and after this last instance with the computer, I should proba..."

After being given the rating of G, Animal Crossing: City Folk received a name change in Australia.

The name change is.... Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City.... rather pathetic really.

Can the new lame name affect sales? Or will it be just as big upon release later this year?

Our tipster has told us that there will indeed be a bundle for those that want to Wii Speak it up with City Folk."
