Ar tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica

"Ryuta Sato on censorship:

"First of all, if you think Ar tonelico is dirty, that's because you've got something on your mind. It's totally innocent. It's not supposed to be dirty or provocative. You know, the presenter said it's provocative, right? I think it's his perception. For me, it's totally innocent. But I do understand what you're talking about. The only thing I can say is - "you'll get everything that is in the Japanese version, and even more." So, to answer your question, we can ..."

"Harusato Akenaga on NISA possibly localizing Ar tonelico III if given the opportunity:

"Yes. Basically, I like that game, and many of our fans like that game, but we had some problems [with the] Ar tonelico II localization. We are really sorry for that. But still, we want to get the license for Ar tonelico III. And, we'll be really careful not to make that problem with the next title.""

""We're releasing Sakura Wars V first because we figured it's the last version that came out and it's obviously the most polished, at least battle system-wise. And it's something that's easier for Sony [to] accept and release a game like [Sakura Wars V], because previously Sony didn't like games that had dating sim aspects. They thought it might not be a suitable game for the PlayStation brand but they're actually happy about Sakura Wars now ever since they saw the actual game. So, if this one..."

"KOEI Ltd will initially begin UK distribution for NIS’s titles in the early summer, with three games across the range of Sony consoles - Ar Tonelico 2: Melody of the Metafalica for PlayStation2 (RRP £19.99), Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? for Sony PlayStation Portable (RRP £29.99), and Cross Edge for PLAYSTATION3 (RRP £39.99)."

The latest title within the Ar Tonelico series provides an epic adventure involving Cloix, Lady CLoche and Luca as they battle for the survival of the human race. Along the way, they deal with moral issues which makes them work together to learn more about themselves as well as others.

This review from Gaming Evolution gives it high marks, praising it as a solid experience in every aspect, flaws notwithstanding.

RPG fansite RPGamer had an exclusive sitdown with niche developer/publisher NIS America about the state of their 2009 releases. The article begins with already-announced games: Ar tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica (PS2), Mana Khemia: Student Alliance (PSP), and A Witch's Tale (NDS), with a couple questions asked about each of the games.

The games revealed in the interview:

  • X-Edge (PS3) - Gust x NIS x Capcom x Idea Factory crossover game - March 2009 release
  • Sakura Taisen V (PS2) - Will ...

From the outset, this past week's Media Create numbers indicate a strong sales week, but the numbers quickly drop, with a substantial decrease from #1 to #3. Also, seven out of the top ten are new releases.

Topping this week's list is Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift for the Nintendo DS, selling 142k copies of the game in its first week. Coming second is the sequel to a Gust RPG, Ar tonelico 2: Sekai ni Hibiku Shoujotachi no Metafalica for the PS2, coming in at 72k units. ...

RPGamer interviews NIS America's Nao Zook over their current and future game localization projects. Interestingly, Nao did not discount the possibility of seeing NIS' flagship Disgaea series for the DS, in fact he is encouraging DS owners to expect something special in the works. Meanwhile for PS2 fans, there's some implication that the sequel to Ar tonelico, still in development for Japan, could very well see North American release in the future.

You'll never forget your first... but save some of that for the sequel! Check out new screens from the second game in Gust and Banpresto's RPG/visual novel/dating sim series, Ar Tonelico 2.
