"2011 was a big year for games, just look at our retrospective if you need any more proof of that. By comparison, 2012 is not looking all that bad either, in fact despite the impending 2012 doomsday in December, the line-up of games coming out in the next 12 months has us much more excited than at this same time last year. With several big name franchises such as Mass Effect, Borderlands, Bioshock, Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Hitman, Final Fantasy and many others bringing out new instalments durin..."
"Today marks the release of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, the final tale of Ezio and Altair. It finalises the groundwork for Desmond’s last stand against Abstergo and the Templars in 2012′s Assassin’s Creed 3.
With four major console games released, several smartphone iterations, as well as DS and PSP offshoots, its a very good time to recap the essentials of the Assassin’s Creed story.

The Assassin’s Creed Universe doesn’t just include the games that have been released on various consoles. The universe expands into comics, novels and even movies. Follow the timeline of the AC World in this video released by Ubisoft. Maybe it can entice you to branch out into other mediums?
Ubisoft head of marketing Geoffrey Sardin has revealed that there are plans for another Assassin's Creed game for 2011, more details have yet to be forthcoming. He said ""If you compare [the 1m in a week] with last year's Assassin’s Creed II sales, this is a big jump - so it's a great achievement," he explained. "It's the best launch in the history of Ubisoft's European sales, and our best-selling launch title ever."
It also turns out that Assassin's Creed Brotherhood sold over 1 million c...
Many creative gamers are taking every opportunity they can get in order to improve their artistic abilities in hopes of some day working in the gaming industry. Raphael Lacoste, who has worked with Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia, has just released an accessible online tutorial showcasing some of his methods for creating such breathtaking works of art.
"There have been large innovations like the the ability to play games online with people from every corner of the earth. There have been small innovations like the pause button, which I believe was introduced with the Atari 5200 (meaning that it’s predecessor, the legendary Atari 2600, had no way of pausing the game if you had to answer the phone or use the bathroom). But when you take any aspect of video games in general, I’m not sure that anything we’ve ever seen, can match the growth and ov..."
"The Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood Multiplayer beta will be start off on October 4th for those who have pre-ordered the game for PS3 at you friendly local Gamestop location. In order to get your 'wall-climbing' anticipation even higher we have posted the latest Multiplater Beta video from Ubisoft."
"There’s nothing worse for an achievement or trophy whore than when a game decides it’s a good idea to have some ridiculous type of collectible within the game as an achievement. You know the type; those ridiculous pieces of paraphernalia that mean absolutely nothing to gameplay, storyline, or character development."
On 14th May 2010, Ubisoft sent out emails telling people exactly what you would get if your Pre-Ordered Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. The Pre-Order bonus is a masked assassin called The Harlequin.
Ubisoft has sent PS3Center a small image and a cryptic message regarding the Assassin's Creed franchise. It seems to suggest that a new Assassin's Creed game may be coming very soon, possibly to be announced at E3.
"With the recent release of the Game Room service for the Xbox 360 and PC, I’ve been thinking about gaming as a whole; thinking about the classics, and the re-release thereof, tends to meander in that direction, at least for me. Some aspects of classic gaming have gone away, while some have been preserved to this very day. One such aspect of classic gaming that had previously disappeared, but has come back into fashion in the last few years, is the high score. With Gamerscore being awarded for..."
Attending MegaCon this past year for all three days, my small crew and myself managed to capture possibly every (non anime) cosplayer at the event. Of course for Gaming news, I'm linking you to the gaming cosplayers, but I suggest using this link as more pictures (and video) will be added. Enjoy!
"Working closely with Ubisoft Montreal, Outso LTD has brought the world of Assassin’s Creed to life in vivid detail for PlayStation Home. Prolonged Animus exposure has caused the Bleeding Effect to take hold of your Home avatar, allowing you to use Eagle Vision to try and crack the Abstergo Labs security systems. Players will be able to view the illustrations and paintings that shaped the look and feel of the Assassin’s Creed games, revisit all of the details about the locations and characters..."

"One of the first things I hear from Michael McIntyre, level design director of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, is that it takes place soon after (the awesome) Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Sure, Sands of Time had a proper (though, not nearly as well-received) sequel in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, but lore-wise, there's a seven-year gap between those two installments -- which provides a convenient place for Forgotten Sands to take place. McIntyre quips, "Obviously, some rea..."

"There has been a heated argument over whether or not video games can be considered an art form. One side's augment is that something interactive, that is subjective to the user's choice cannot be art. I wholeheartedly disagree. It is an art because we can choose, because we can make games something different, unique to the player. Art is not a single definition, it doesn't have boundaries. When you confine something like art, to take it away from everyday life; it starts it to lose its meanin..."
"What a great year it was for gamers. Aside from a few disappointing games and some not so pleasant news this year (Closure of Pandemic Studios), we (and of course you) have been enjoying some great games across all platforms throughout the whole year.

"Ubisoft has today announced a record first week sales performance for its Assassin’s Creed II videogame, with 1.6 million units sold through worldwide according to internal estimates. This represents 32% growth over the first week sales of the hugely successful original Assassin’s Creed. Launched in November 2007, Assassin’s Creed remains the fastest selling new videogame intellectual property ever in the US."
This the newest The Bender, sees the return of the guys from Philadelphia. We chat about what shenanigans went on at the GameX convention (both good and bad) and also find time to catch up with the news of the week. Including that new DSi "Old People Edition", the sillyness that will come out of the Modern Warfare 2 leaked footage, and I think we might have snuck some PSPgo jabs in before the end. Enjoy!

"With the impending arrival of some massive sequels later this year and early next year, we feel it's a good time to recap on the original instalments of two games that are soon due for their much-anticipated continuations; these being Bioshock and Assassin's Creed."
"I would suggest that, in fact there appears to be a total lack of strategy behind Microsoft’s pricing arrangement for the Games on Demand service, though it would be foolish to do so. You and I are both fully aware that this is just the first piece of a new digital distribution puzzle for the console manufacturer, and one that’s very likely to receive a lot of attention from both the media and consumers. It’s the fact that Microsoft have decided to do as Electronic Theatre initially suggested..."

"Thousands of gamers, anime fans and cosplayers of widely varying quality descended on ExCel, an exhibition centre in London, for one of the biggest events in the collective industrys’ calendar today, the 15th MCM Expo. Running for two days, 23rd May and 24th May 2009, those few Electronic Theatre readers who managed to miss today’s show may just have enough time to organise the necessary travelling arrangements, and grab that Bomberman outfit they’ve been saving for a special occasion."
"Why he's overrated: Speaking of 'roid rage, check out this loser. Marcus Fenix is the kind of muscle-bound buffoon that makes even guys like Kratos seem like introspective philosophers. His personality consists entirely of grunting, shouting, and shooting.
As much as Epic Games has tried to fool gamers by licensing tie-in novels and comic books, we all know the truth. There is no real story to be had for Marcus in Gears of War, aside from arm up, take aim and go on a bug hunt. It's all ab..."

"You can access the teaser site by clicking on the Via link. The site also has an Animus link on the left side, but it seems all of the links in that section are still down. Ubisoft's gearing up for an Assassin's Creed 2 announcement on the 16th, so those will probably be up by then.

"Admittedly, the cut-scenes were mega-tedious in the console versions of Assassin's Creed, but otherwise this was a damnably spiffing game packed with tension, spills and thrills.
So we're very excited to hear that a one off iPhone special of Japan's premier gaming magazine, Famitsu, has uncovered details of Assassin's Creed leaping its way onto Apple's handheld platform.
By all accounts we can expect very similar free-running gameplay across the ancient cities. The iPhone Assassin's Cre..."
Recently Sony announced a slew of new titles for the PSP, including franchises like Assassin's Creed, LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm and Rock Band. But according to PSP head of marketing John Koller this was only the half of it, and they have heaps more coming later, that this was just to whet our appetites a bit. Essentially this means more new games on the way, maybe for PSP and PS3.

"Ubisoft has today announced targets for its next financial year (April 1, 2009 - March 31, 2010), confirming the release of Assassin's Creed 2, Splinter Cell Conviction and a new Ghost Recon game.
Yves Guillemot commented: "2009-10 looks very promising and our teams are working flat-out to provide gamers with the best the industry has to offer. Our line-up comprises several potential blockbusters with the launch of 7 franchises, including Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon, as..."

"I don't think the chart needs to be explained, you have the games, you have how much space they would take on your hard drive, and then how much time you'd be saving (not listed on the chart is how much relief you will be giving your poor disc drive). No longer do 360 fanboys have the fodder of "oh you PS3 people have to install games blah blah" .. in the end, if you have a big enough hard drive, you know you'll be installing these games soon enough."
With the poor reception after the first game's release and Ubisoft asking for gamers opinions before even thinking about making an Assassin's Creed 2, many thought the future of the franchise was in doubt, despite a cliffhanger ending. However Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed animator Alex Drouin confirmed on a website to be teaching Altair, the protagonist of the games, to swim.
MrNickle7, as he goes by on Youtube, decided to make an Assassin's Creed video, showing him killing everyone in his path with all of the weapons. The video has been edited nicely, check it out:

"Across the pond, consumers prefer racing and soccer games to blockbuster action, adventure and first-person shooter games that are the staple of the U.S. diet. In the latest UK official PlayStation Magazine, some very juicy rumors were released. They mention a Assassin's Creed movie might be in the making, as well as a Cloverfield video game. There might also be a sequel to The Darkness, which was shot down by the developers earlier, but there are speculations that they are just buying some time. Another rumor is a new game called Spyborgs from Capcom. The last rumor is about the sequel to the PS3 exclusive video game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. The...
Remember that April fools gag Ubisoft and Kojima put together a few months ago? It involved a gameplay trailer of Solid Snake going about his regular duties in MGS4 but dressed in the same garb worn by Altair in Assasins Creed. However this was not just a one time thing, this costume will actually be unlockable in the game. Now you can cleanse the Holy Land with a M16!
"Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed continues to motor on, selling over 6 million units as of March 31 this year, further establishing itself as a star franchise for the game maker.

So, it's a pretty slow release week this week, especially considering that three of the more notable releases this week are really just The Orange Box being split up into parts. But this week also sees the release of the dark RPG for the Wii and PS2, Baroque, and the PC Director's Cut of Assassin's Creed. Assassin's Creed: DC probably still has all the repetition of the original version, though.

Holy freaking crap! This is amazing footage! Let me preface this by saying that this was an April Fools Day joke collaboration between both Konami and Ubisoft. It basically involves putting the Altair character model from Assassin's Creed into the MGS4 engine with all the moves and abilities of Snake but the flowing clothing etc of Altair (but Snakes face).
That's not the point though, there's some brand new gameplay footage to be seen here. At 3:16 prepare for your mind to be just blown....

Ubisofts Technical Lead Charles Beauchemin has given out information on what the four new types of investigations that have been added to the PC version of Assassin's Creed are all about.
For those that don't know, in Assassins Creed, before you can assassinate a major target, you have to first investigate. This is usually in the form of interrogations or doing a favor for an informer so that they'll give you information. The PC version is said to contain more investigations than the PS3/...
Whilst the title of the article says The cold, hard truth, I honestly can't believe it's the truth, someone's opinion yes, but no the truth; don't get me wrong, it could very well be correct, however I can guarantee that not everyone will see eye to eye with his views, and in some cases his experiance will vary to that of others, thus making his truth nothing more than his version of how he found the games, however that doesn't make this article any less of an interesting read, especially for...

"You surely recall how Assassins Creed was slammed because the game forced you to do the same three actions over and over for nine times (eavesdrop, pickpocket, interrogate) ? Well, it seems Ubisoft wants to avoid the hatred this time around and is adding four brand new exclusive types of investigations to the PC version."

"Although Ubisofts sprawling third-person epic Assassins Creed runs without any serious issues on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it would appear that PC gamers hoping to fully enjoy the adventures of master assassin Altair will first need to think about investing in better hardware.

Develop has translated a piece in Japanese game magazine Famitsu, where Assassin's Creed producter Jade Raymond interviews the famous and Metal Gear Solid 4 director Hideo Kojima.

Assassin's Creed shouldn't really get mixed reviews with all the hype it got, but as you realise this game was just too over hyped. Moving on the review talks about the game being very repetitive with some graphical glitches, different voice actors saying the same thing and guards get stuck glitching against the wall. Enough has been said now the decision comes down to you if you want to purchase the game or...
"We'll have an Assassin's Creed review with you shortly but, in the meantime, here are six new screenshots from the game.
Due out Friday on Xbox 360 and PS3, if you've been living in a cupboard, Assassin's Creed follows the story of Altair, a medieval assassin on operations at the time of the Third Crusade and the war in the Holy Land.
Look out for the review later this week."
We're getting some very highly anticipated games this week. Really wonderful selection. Open up that there wallet and partake in some magnificent gaming.
This is a pretty hearty sized notable games list, and should deserve some playing time, no matter what your console allegiance is. We're all gamers here. Defense Forces need not apply. Support good games!
Personally, I am eagerly awaiting the Aeris (or maybe, Mario, from someone who received call yesterday) call from EBGames telli...
"If the prospect of exploring some massive environments coupled with some extremely cool fighting moves, or indeed Games Radar's glowing review, hasnt already convinced you that Assassins Creed is well worth your money then maybe the video below will."
The highly anticipated Assassins Creed will be out on November 14th. But before the games release, there are reviews, and GameInformer has one of the first ones on the web. They love the game and talk about the new approach for control scheme and how it helps the game. They also say that the game has a very high replay value which is good.
Final score=9.5/10
New hands-on preview of the game discusses various aspects of its core gameplay features, the game's impressive visuals and draw distance, crowd interaction and the learning curve with the controls. It seems we're in for another stunning adventure from Ubi...
The first ever commercial for the upcoming game from Ubisoft, Assassins Creed. The beginning is the same as one of the first trailers for the game. As the commercial comes to the end, Altair freezes in the air while the name Assassins Creed comes across it. The game will come out on November 14th. Click the link to view the video.
Ubisoft has now announced that the highly anticipated title Assassin's Creed, has now gone gold. Ubisoft has been working for nearly four years to create this title, and they hope that it will be successful.
Assassin's Creed will be released November 13th 2007 in North America. There will be two different editions gamers can purchase. Limited and standard edition. Standard edition will be priced at $59.99 and the limited edition will have a $10 increased price resulting in $69.99. The gam...
"During the Assassin's Creed demo down at the Australian Maritime Museum today, creative director Patrice Desilets (second from the right) commented on remarks he made two weeks ago on cramming all the game's data onto the Xbox 360's puny DVD format, and into the PS3's questionable memory density.
According to Desilets, his boss (Raymond perhaps? Far right, above) called him the day after the comments were made and they exchanged a few words. All Desilets was willing to say today on the Xbo..."
A article that highlights the seven best games that will be released next month in November. I must say there is a high number of games being released excluding the seven named in this article. The seven best games are shown below:
7. Uncharted: Drakes Fortune
6. Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Swords
5. Mass Effect
4. Rock Band
3. Assassins Creed
2. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
1. Super Mario Galaxy
"Kyd has brought home a British Academy Award and is no stranger to video game tunes - the man is responsible for the music in games like Kane & Lynch, Unreal Tournament III, the Hitman series, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, just to name a few."
Right now both the PS3 and 360 versions of Assassin's Creed are having a bit of trouble. The PS3 version is having trouble dealing with the amount of memory the OS takes up versus the lower memory OS in the 360. The 360 version however is having trouble with disc space, in that a DVD9 isn't sufficient enough to hold Assassin's Creed.
It has been discussed before, multiple disc solutions are not always plausible for different types of games, for a game like Assassin's Creed where you're goi...
So, Nintendo sent out new PR, detailing their new release schedule. Unfortunately, that includes Brawl on Feb. 10
However, there are some very amusing and hidden gems. Assassin's Creed apparently is set to be released February '08, and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin will be releasing on January 21st. There are some delays, including February 4th for Professor Layton (originally Dec. 3). It is shaping up to be a great end of '07/early '08.
Take note that this is a partial list. Most not...
We all know that IGN is supposed to have an exclusive look at the game tomorrow (they even had a countdown timer). But, AC's creative director sits down with UGO.com a day ahead of all that to do an exclusive video interview. Interestingly, Patrice Desilets talks about the beginnings of Assassin's Creed, before the PS3 and Xbox 360 even existed, when there were only specs. He also mentions what to look forward to next month.
It's about 4:30 minutes long.
"Over on Gametrailers, they've put up a video interview with Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond that took place during this year's Tokyo Game Show and she revealed that Ubisoft is not planning a demo for Assassin's Creed.
Her reasoning states, "No, we're not making a demo. The game is a more sandbox-styled game where there's a lot [to do] and [there's] not [really] a linear mission for a demo." She elaborated a little more by saying, "it's huge, there's 3 cities and there's no way to sa..."
Going on sale for $69.99, Assassins Creed looks to push the boundries of platform gaming with its stunning visuals and gameplay style. The collectors addition for the game was announced a few days ago, and the buty that are the images of the collectors edition are now here for all to see.
Included in the Collectors Edition Pack are:
- Tin Box
- Penny Arcade Comics
- Figure of Altair
- Mini-Strategy Guide
- Making of Documentaries
The delay that has made many fans upset and angry, has also been a saviour for some game developers that no longer have GTAIV to compete with for christmas. Which will obviously mean that they will have more reason to release it before then, and will most likely be getting more notice from you than if GTAIV had released.
The games ofcourse are:
- Bioshock
- Army of Two
- Lair
- Haze
- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
- Assassin's Creed
- Heavenly Sword
"The folks over at GameTrailers have voiced their opinions on the wealth of titles showcased at E3, offering up worthy nominations across a wide variety of categories before nailing their game of choice in each.
So, what scoops Best Action Game? What nabs Best New Franchise? And what saunters off with Best Game in the view of GameTrailers? Well, that would be spoiling the anticipation, robbing ourselves of an extra click, and also stealing some of GameTrailers thunder."
Ubisoft producer Jade Raymond audibly gasped in astonishment as a dispatched guard in the Assassin's Creed demo inexplicably hung in mid air after falling from a rooftop. She must also have been mightily uncomfortable as Altair jumped into a cart full of hay that didn't register his impact and knocked jugs from the arms of women in the crowd without seemingly touching them. What was going on? Let's find out.
"First to tick us off are the hordes of cloned water-jug-on-head women idly milling around at the start. Seriously, in some shots you can see six or seven of exactly the same person.
Then there's the much-lauded crowd-pushy-system. The collisions look anything but smoothly animated, more like robots bumping into one another than people. Or, by contrast, sometimes there's too much reaction, with the otherwise graceful Altair windmilling his arms like a seven-year-old on an icy playground.

It's amazing how many titles that went multiplatform since the next-gen consoles arrived. I don't blame them because it'll help their sales, but that can be marked as selfish in Sony's view...as they lose out on some big anticipated games...some that made their PS2 #1.
Grand Theft Auto IV
Devil May Cry IV
Assassin's Creed
Beautiful Katamari
Fatal Inertia
Virtua Fighter 5

"It's finally official: Assassin's Creed will be hitting both the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 worldwide this November.
The game, developed by Ubisoft's Montreal studio, will sell for $60, while the limited edition version will sell for $70. In the game you will play as Altair, an assassin trying to stop the hostilities of the Third Crusade in 1191 AD.
"Assassin's Creed is going to be a huge launch for Ubisoft this year along with the added prestige of being the start of this excit..."
"Jade Raymond, producer of Assassin's Creed, has mentioned the possibility of making an installment of Assassin's Creed for handhelds.
Raymond wants to create a game that will fully take advantage of the benefits inherent to handheld gaming. "We want to make a real plan where you can make a game, you make a book, you know, maybe other types of portable games that have complementary experiences," said Raymond.
Currently, the game has only been announced for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox..."
A preview about how the gameplay will be like in Assassin's Creed. A lot about being very sneaky and climbing buildings that will help you on your quest.
CVG describes it as:
quoteMore open than Oblivion, more brutal than Hitman: We plunge into the heart of Ubisoft's crusader
"For while the Montreal-based team is happy to talk about their plans and the plot, much remains unseen, unsaid and under wraps. So all that talk of epoch-wandering killers, dredging the genetic memory of dead relatives and that HUD is distinctly off the agenda. But at the same time, they kept hinting at something else, something Dan Brownish in hue, something vague about the Holy Grail, the Knights Templar, and a global conspiracy.
Heres what we do know is true: the year is definitely 1191..."
Most game designers spend relatively little time thinking about the crowds in their worlds. Even in so-called living cities, residents generally either ignore you or run from you, with but a scant nod in the direction of all those interesting greys in between. Not Ubisoft. In its upcoming action game Assassin's Creed the people that pulse through the dusty, busy streets are anything but ordinary.
