Atelier Rorona: Alchemist of Arland

Atelier Rorona: Alchemist of Arland

The official website has launched for Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland, revealing several details in addition to the first English screenshots for the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive RPG.

"In the beginning, a town lived very simple lives, sort of like medieval times, but then suddenly, a traveller shows them the art of alchemy. The town was impressed, and wanted in on it. Alchemy was here to stay... or was it? Years later, the alchemy shop ends up in debt due to the laziness of the shopkeeper and poor reputation, and the king's advisors suggested that he shut down the shop and open up a factory. The king, however, has a heart and suggested that the shopkeeping alchemist should ..."

"Given how relatively obscure the Atelier series are, I'm impressed to see the dawning number of cosplayers dedicating their time and effort to the franchise..."

No, we haven't forgotten about our cosplay section. While there's been a relative lack of activity since our last interview with Big Daddy, TK-Nation's Cassandra Khaw is once again back with another exquisite little showcase. Once again originating from the Atelier Rorona universe, we have with us today a sweetly vibrant rendition of Pamela Ibis.

Friday's cosplay at TK-Nation consists of a crisp winter's morning, pretty vegetation and Atelier Rorona. That's right, folks! Even less-popular JRPGs do get some cosplay love!

"The eleventh entry in Gust’s niche alchemy franchise is also the first to be released for the PlayStation 3, utilizing 3D graphics in place of the series’ traditional 2D sprites. A direct sequel was released in Japan earlier this year, but I guess the Western publisher has been too busy not dubbing cinematics to keep up. That’s not to say that The Alchemist of Arland hasn’t been given star treatment when it comes to design, but the localization efforts could have been a little more thorough. ..."

"From the publisher behind the Disgaea series, Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love and the Ar tonelico series comes an all new alchemy RPG in the Atelier series for the PlayStation 3 developed by Gust.

All-in-all Atelier Rorona is an enjoyable game that offers an interesting and lighthearted story with plenty of exploration for fans of the genre. Visually the game looks good, the environments are bright and colorful and the character portraits during conversations are very well done. The voice ac..."

"Let us know what your favorite NIS America game is and why. If you’re not familiar with their titles but want to be, make a post about why you want to play Atelier Rorona. Be interesting, be creative, be passionate about what you’re talking about – it doesn’t have to be very long, but give us a good explanation about why you love that particular game. When the contest is over, we’ll choose one person at random and one not-so-random, which we feel wrote the smartest, funnies, most sincere or o..."

September marks the beginning of an onslaught of big new blockbuster releases for the fall season. Here are the top ten upcoming games to look forward to for this month.

This hands-on preview of the upcoming Atelier Rorona from NIS America is brought to you by none other than RPG Guru Chad Awkerman of DualShockers who received a preview copy of the title complete with final build code (yes the game has gone gold and will be available soon), enjoy!

This is an editorial from DualShockers about some of the elements of stories that are present in RPGs and how sometimes convoluted stories are inferior to simpler ones, albeit a bit cliche.

NIS America’s Nao Zook revealed that the release window for the Playstation 3 exclusive role-playing game, Atelier Rorona has slipped into the fall season.

NIS are well known for their RPG games, and with one RPG for the PS3 already in the market, they are all set for the second coming - this time it's Atelier Rorona. Set for release in the states in the Summer of 2010, there's good news for EU fans... the game will be released "VERY CLOSE to the North American release in Summer 2010". So one can only hope that the delay is less than a few weeks....

""We're releasing Sakura Wars V first because we figured it's the last version that came out and it's obviously the most polished, at least battle system-wise. And it's something that's easier for Sony [to] accept and release a game like [Sakura Wars V], because previously Sony didn't like games that had dating sim aspects. They thought it might not be a suitable game for the PlayStation brand but they're actually happy about Sakura Wars now ever since they saw the actual game. So, if this one..."
