In this week's installment of Top 10 Tuesdays, Matt Beaudette of Gaming Irresponsibly counts down the top Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network games.

"EA and Dice are generating some good karma after some misunderstandings in the lead up to the release of Battle field 3. Some users got the impression that Battlefield 1943 would be coming free with BF3 but instead EA decided to offer the DLC one week early"
What could possibly be more American than staying indoors on the Fourth in a dark room illuminated solely by the light from whatever television or computer monitor you're using to play video games? Joystick Division rounds up the five best games to play during tomorrow's holiday.
"With each passing month, PC gamers are beginning to witness an increasing games drought as more and more developers shift their resources and budgets to consoles. Titles like Call of Duty which saw birth and massive popularity on PC's now pledge their allegiance to Xbox 360 and PS3.
Will Battlefield 1943 PC ever see the light of day? Fans anticipating the PC version have been left in a perpetual state of confusion for months. But, despite the game being MIA in most digital retailer's datab..."
"Xbox LIVE Deal of the Week is expanding to six games for this week, the most Microsoft has discounted in one week as part of the program. This week's selection is mostly LIVE Arcade first-person shooters but also includes an addictive "Ode to Joy" puzzler and a strategy game starring worms."
Electronic Arts detailed the sales milestones reached by FIFA 10, Madden NFL 10, The Sims 3, Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Need for Speed Shift during the past fiscal year.
"Some great Xbox Live Arcade games were released in 2009 from Shadow Complex to Battlefield 1943. 2009 was a year that got Xbox 360 owners to plunk down their MS Points. Microsoft wanted to know which games Xbox 360 owners liked best so put up a poll on Xbox Live for people to vote on their favorite games. The results came in today and the motorcycle stunt game, Trials HD, came away with the Best Overall Arcade Game of 2009."
"For as much as I love Battlefield 1943, there is no denying that it’s thin on content. Four maps (of which one is aircraft-only) and three classes simply isn’t enough to hold people’s attention over the long haul. The game has only been out for a little over nine months and already it’s becoming more and more difficult to find full matches. This is due to the fact that everything is, well, the same."
The act of piracy has been around since the dawn of man, and in gaming, it's been around since some wise person found a way to copy something he or she was not supposed to, and either sold it shared it with others, at the expense of the owner/s.
But game piracy has now moved to a greater level. A level where it now is shaping how both publishers and developers both make and sell their wares.
Which is now changing the way we will be able to access games and one which platforms they will ...

dallasnews.com has an interesting piece up about the huge amount of war video games out there today, examining just why they're so prevalent.
It has a good bit of history, too, comparing the current trend with earlier eras of film, in part focusing on the content itself. One of the reasons listed for the shift is the 2001 WTC attack. So it appears, gamers have been a lot more open to adapting the topic in such times.
Give it a read.
"For a lot of you out there, the Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) offerings are either too expensive or not appealing enough to warrant inclusion in your game collection. Personally, I look at the XBLA games as a great supplement to any gamer’s repertoire, as well as an opportunity to boost one’s gamerscore by up to 200 points per game. I own about 18 arcade games, and a lot of them were bought cheaper than you’d expect, at discount (Xbox has a weekly special and a “discount” bin of arcade games)."
"Below is a list of the top downloaded items from the PlayStation Store for the week ending October 22nd. This week Call of Duty: World at War and Fallout 3 both dominate the chart. The number one spot is occupied by the latest COD: WAW Map Pack for the second straight week. Fallout 3’s add on content has been very popular over the past few weeks. Check back each week for the lastest and most popular downloads from the PlayStation Store."
"Those who remember the launch, aside from the record-breaking sales and server crashes, will know that DICE were already offering free DLC straight away. A competition between the PSN and XBL communities which involved reaching a staggering amount of kill collectively, resulting in the unlocking of “Air Superiority,” a game mode which focused on dogfights only, which was personally a letdown for me.
I have at least poured a good twenty or so hours into the game since release, but even though..."
"July saw a steady share of excellent games as well as a few movie based bombs. Generally summer is a drought for good gaming, but 2009 seems to confound that logic. Here is a look at what we reviewed for the month of July."
"Gun fire sounds very close to the real thing and the background noises add a realistic factor to this game which makes you feel like you’re in each mission - you can even hear your character shuffling through the grassy fields as you traverse through the maps. Speaking of maps, the ones offered in this game are quite large. Luckily, there are enough vehicles available which will allow you to cover more ground quickly."
The Battlefield series has been around for a while. There have been two Battlefield games on the next generation systems, with the latest being Battlefield: Bad Company. Developer DICE have released the biggest and possibly best XBLA and PSN game to date in Battlefield 1943. Is it a great game to wet our appetites for Battlefield: Bad Company 2? Read the full review to find out.
This topic has been heard plenty of times, which are better achievements or trophies. One can question its launch with the console vs maybe a tack on feature. The real question is who values them more for their respective console? The staff at LVLONE discusses the different features each console presents.
"Since 2002, Digital Illusions and Electronic Arts have released many Battlefield titles but did not release a true successor to 1942. Each installment really changed gameplay and mechanics from the original title, and only now do we see a return to the WWII-era after delving into Vietnam-era, the modern day, and the future. Battlefield 1943 isn’t a full-blown sequel - it lacks a lot of variety having only three classes and four maps - but DICE has taken the best of the Battlefield series and ..."

"One of the most anticipated third party games has finally hit PSN. Battlefield 1943 takes inspiration from previous Battlefield games and presents it in a compact, three map, download-only title. But can this downloadable game stand up to its full retail brethren, or does it fall apart at the seams?
Battlefield 1943 is a World War II themed FPS that allows players to choose one of two sides, the United States Marine Corps or the Imperial Japanese Navy. You will compete online with up to 24..."
"Review: Battlefield 1943 If you skip this review and go straight to the score at the end, you'd probably be surprised. How could a $15 downloadable FPS be good enough for a 5 out of 5?"
EA and DICE teamed up to bring you Battlefield 1943 which is a World War II shooter that is available for downloaded via Xbox LIVE for 1200 Microsoft points.
At around 1:00PM PST, just less than a week after the game was made available to download on the XBOX Live Arcade, XBOX360 players finally unlocked the Coral Sea map and the Air Superiority game mode after reaching the 43 million kill milestone. PS3's Battlefield 1943 kill count currently stands at around 22 million kills. They are expected to complete the Coral Sea Challenge by next week.
"Major Nelson has posted the LIVE Activity list for the week of July 6th, and it is very surprising. As you can see from the title, Battlefield 1943 has accomplished something only once done before with Castle Crashers.
Despite initially having server issues, EA overcame that hurdle right away and it seems to have pleased gamers. Battlefield 1943 has cracked the top numbers for disc based games, taking out Rock Band 2 from the list completely. I am not sure how long this will last, but with..."
"By name many users have tried to get in on the action of Battlefield 1943 but have been hit with a bit of a snag. Dice has convinced fans that it is a server issue and they are trying to add servers around the clock. Now if any that are reading this at home have tried and have gotten a error message in the form of “Error Connecting to EA Servers” then Dice adding servers isn’t your problem. Fortunately we have two remedy’s that can get anyone on they’re way to join your friends in battle."
"Now available for download on Xbox LIVE Arcade is Battlefield 1943 for 1200 MS Points. Right now the online is having some server problems, but you can hop on and play the tutorial, which was pretty fun!"
PC fight fans are in for a real treat come July 7 -- Street Fighter returns to the platform, appearing for the first time since Alpha 2 in 1998. Those interested in an arcade-style pad for their fix (or a pad at all, if you don't have one) can pick up the bundle pictured here from the Capcom Store for just $60.
Another classic series is being revived, too -- Tales of Monkey Island gets its first chapter this week in the form of "Launch of the Screaming Narwhal."

"Just confirmed from a recent EA news letter is the release date for Battlefield 1943. This new downloadable Battlefield will hit XBL July 8th and PSN on July 9th, for $15 or 1200 MSP."
"First and foremost, I had no idea this game was available only through download. This is due to the quality of the game. It does not look at all how one would expect a Xbox Live Arcade or Playstation Network game to look (it will also be available for PC at a later date). I assumed the game was a retail release due to the graphics, the ability to have twenty-four players in a single match while on dedicated servers, and the features of the game."
Just an note on Battlefield 1943 release date, there has been some confusion and misprinted dates thrown around, according to a response on the EA UK Forums by Gordon Van Dyke this is not true and most likely going to be an early July release.

"Electronic Arts have today released a brand new trailer for the forthcoming Xbox 360, PC and PLAYSTATION3 release of Battlefield 1943, a sequel to the highly respected Battlefield 1942. Concentrating on the environment – Wake Island, in this new short – the video demonstrates that development is clearly running according to schedule. Electronic Theatre will bring you more details on Battlefield 1943 as soon as they’re available."
