Beyond Good & Evil 2

Daav from NoobFeed.com rounds up another batch of game ideas after a 'very productive period of film watching'. At least there's a justification for eating chips and sitting on your ass. Five more films get transitioned and compared with games like Zelda, L.A. Noire, Brink, Assassin's Creed and even Leisure Suit Larry.

"Last week’s Electronic Theatre Sunday Special was the run down of Top Ten Videogame Heroes; featuring the protagonist you loved like Sam Fisher, Sonic the Hedgehog and Link. So to prove that the games industry isn’t just a man’s game, this week we focus on the Top Ten Videogame Heroines. Ten of the females that got you hot under the collar, and not in the Dead or Alive Paradise way, but stayed on track with the heroic mission which faced them have been chosen for this week’s feature article."

industrygamers.com recently interviewed Ubisoft's Laurent Detoc. There wasn't much new info in the interview, but an interesting thing to note is that Detoc said Beyond Good & Evil 2 (despite its announcement and trailer at E3) may not be released, claiming "I didn’t say there’s definitely going to be another game".

"No one expected the cult-classic Beyond Good and Evil to get a sequel, not after 6 years and poor sales; but we are getting it, probably next year. [As a side-note, it's hard to believe it's been six years since Beyond Good and Evil came out, the graphics look outstanding even today.] So this revival edition of Dear Developers will be about Beyond Good and Evil 2, what will hopefully be a sequel worthy of the first game."

This is heartbreaking. I was one among many gaming journalists that evangelized Beyond Good and Evil when it was first released only to be ignored (one of the few instances game journalism got it right and only few gamers listned). I was expecting to head out to see E3's return to old form and perhaps get a peek at what Ubisoft has been working on, alas Russ discovered this heartbreaking news. Oh well, another year, more polish - better first impression, right?

"Among other goodies, Ubidays in Paris has resulted in a long awaited revelation: the sequel to Beyond Good and Evil is real.

Ubisoft President Yves Guillemot has just announced Beyond Good and Evil 2, showing a trailer named “1. The Pig.” Gamersyde is the first sport new images and a trailer. The footage suggests a departure from the cartoon art style of the original, and though Gamersyde suppose the trailer is CG, it looks like in-game assets to me.

Surfer Girl, a almost notorious source which has a knack for fishing out the information the game industry doesn't want you to see has released a new batch of rumours. This time she claims a teaser trailer for PS3 title Heavy Rain is on the way, Next Level Games next project will be a downloadable title for the 360 and that Beyond Good and Evil 2 may be in the works
