"Just up on Newegg.com is a deal that you won’t want to miss. Do you enjoy video games with amazing single player campaigns to keep you busy for hours at a time?
Well, so do the hundreds of thousands of fans of Bioshock and Bioshock 2. Right now at Newegg you can get Bioshock 2 for an incredible price, but you’ll have to read on to see the sale."
With the recent release of Homefront and its five hour campaign, gamers are bringing into question whether games are becoming too short to warrant to expensive price. We try to analyze why the industry has cut down on the length and added unnecessary features. Cheers!
"At the "From Background to Center Stage: Building Game Worlds As Main Characters" panel for Bioshock Infinite PAX East, we were lucky enough to catch the best question of Friday: "One: do Big Daddies have penises, and two, what is the average size of a big daddy penis, and three [...]" -- you can watch the video for the rest, it's below.
Just remember, kids: you'll be immortalized for this sort of thing."
Collectors are an odd bunch, I should know, I'm one of them lol, but one of OXCGN's team is also an avid collector, and looks at the changing trends in so-called collectors editions, or should I say, games passing themselves off as collectible items, in this neat article.
Come check it out, share your thoughts, I'm sure many have had the collectors bug at some stage, but most importantly, what do you think of current trends . . .

"We’ve all read countless “best franchise of all time” lists, and while they’re fun to write and then to argue about, there’s an inherent problem with the “all time” part – you have to consider the 30+ years of gaming history before you get to the modern generation. Heavy hitters like Zelda, Mario, Halo, Warcraft, Metal Gear and GTA are virtually guaranteed a place on the list, so how can there be much room left over for games of right now?
That’s why we’re ousting the old guard and choosin..."
Awesome New Bioshock: Infinite Gameplay Trailer was released on Xbox live. Ripten brings it to you in HD with 5 new screenshots. Doesn't get much better than that!
Even though the game is perfect as is, a BioShock movie is still on the way. Ken Levine has confirmed that he's working with the filmmakers on bringing the game to theaters.
"Minerva’s Den is a self-contained narrative experience that introduces new characters, locations and mystery to the fiction-rich world of Rapture. The game add-on puts players in the role of an all-new character who has teamed up with Brigid Tenenbaum to unravel a megalomaniac’s stranglehold on a key district in the distinctive city under the sea."
""Fans of BioShock 2’s single-player story mode have been feeling a bit left out from all of the downloadable content fun. All of that changes when Minerva’s Den hits the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.""
"5. Vending Machine Trapper - BioShock 2
This one barely made the list for two reasons - it was obviously a significant part of the game and BioShock 2 didn’t host the most popular multiplayer experience. However, nothing was more frustrating than running up to a vending machine to refill on Eve or Ammo only to be greeted by a laughing clown and a bomb in the family jewels. You could freeze the traps but almost never thought to do so. Yes, there was a big blinking red light but it was hard ..."
2010 has been a stellar so far for the Xbox 360 with a lineup that contained great exclusive games and multiplatform titles. Here are the top ten games released for the system during the first-half of the year.
All Age Gaming's John Elliott brings us the 9th developer profile. This fortnight he looks at the System Shock 2 and Bioshock series developer Irrational Games. See inside for a look into the FPS developer.
"Protector Trials is being developed by the core team behind BioShock 2's single-player experience. It contains a series of challenges focused on frantic combat and fast-paced action that are designed to push players' mastery of weapons and Plasmids. The goal is simple, but tough to achieve: players must keep their Little Sister safe from the intense onslaught of Splicers as she gathers ADAM from corpses."
All Age Gaming's John Elliott takes a detailed look at the latest downloadable content just released for 2K Games Bioshock 2, the Rapture Metro Pack. Is this 800 MS point Multi-player pack worth your cash? Read on to find out.
"Bioshock 2 gamers are angry after 2k Games. Many of them could not play the new multiplayer maps they purchased last Week. The Metro Pack, 2nd Dlc for Bioshock 2, arrived last week with 2 other small Dlc after the disaster of the 1st Dlc. Elizabeth Tobey, the senior manager of interactive marketing for 2k Games reported the problem on 2K forums: it is not a glitch but a design choice: 2K has not created a Dlc-only online multiplayer playlist yet."
"2K Games today announced the Rapture Metro Pack, the second installment of post-launch downloadable content for the critically acclaimed BioShock 2, which is now available from both the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Network."
"2K Games announced the Rapture Metro Pack, the second installment of post-launch downloadable content for BioShock2 is now available on both Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points and PlayStation Network for $11.99."
"Now if you’ve ever played PC games, the gap between mouse and keyboard and controllers has always been an issue. Most would say a controller will never have the precision that a mouse has. KontrolFreek have created a product for your analog sticks to improve performance and accuracy by decreasing your reaction time and increasing mobility."
I'd have to say that this game, and it's earlier iteration would have to be one of the best games so far in 2010.
OXCGN's newer feature, it's Second-Look reviews are gathering interest, as many games really come into their own after some serious gameplay. Which does not happen in a simple short gameplay review. So come check out our 2nd-look review
New maps, modes, and other features are getting added to Bioshock 2 when the Rapture Metro Pack is released to the PC, XBox 360 and PS3. Now the only question is when after the recent delay.
2K Games has pushed back the release of the upcoming Retro Map Pack DLC for BioShock 2. The pack includes six new maps as well as new achievements as well as giving level 50 characters the option of being 'reborn' to a level 1 character, albeit with a special mask item of some kind. No word yet on a new release date.
The all-day Xbox 360 Gold Box Event has begun on Amazon with BioShock 2 as the Deal of the Day. The retailer also provided hints to the seven upcoming Lightning Deals.
"A new Bioshock 2 Dlc will be released next week: April 29th and will cost 800 points on the XBL which should be around $10.
The Dlc is discrete but is expected to boost the game. It is a generous pack: it features 6 new multiplayer maps, 3 character masks, 3 new Achievements and a melee deathmatch mode. Rapture has never been so generous!"

Late last year some were saying that 2010 could be the biggest in gaming history and it certainly is shaping up that way. So, John from All Age Gaming sat down and compiled a list of the Top 10 games in the first half of 2010 (1st January to 30 June 2010). If the second half of 2010 is going to be better, then we are in for one hell of a treat!
2010 is shaping up to be one of the most jam-packed years in the gaming industry with many excellent games already released in the first-quarter alone. Here are ten can't miss games so far this year.
I think gamers as a whole can end the discussion on whether or not downloadable content that is on the disc is an okay practice. Keep discussions on whether or not DLC is a good thing at all, or whether it should always be free, but as far as being on the disc and charged for later, it's not okay.
Bioshock 2 does seem to live up to the reputation of its predecessor and one would hope it would step past that, but has it?
Come see in the review of the game from OXCGN reviewers point of view. Some will agree, some will not, but has the inclusion of the Multiplayer dulled the game's actually concept, or added to it?
I think it has taken it away from it's original concept, simply for sales-sake. What will happen in Bioshock 3, as it was planned as a trilogy originally, will it see 3 e...
GameZone's Luke "K" Wing takes a close look at BioShock 2, after the hype has died down and people aren't going crazy for it. The video runs about nine minutes long.

While most limited or collectors editions games fall in price pretty much from the get go, Bioshock 2 Special Edition has stubbornly been selling for the same retail price everywhere for over a month. Recently, however, Amazon finally discounted PS3 version of Bioshock 2 Special Edition to $73 ($27 off), which is only ~ $20 more than the price for regular game. For Xbox 360 version your best bet is Best Buy that has the game for $69.99. Besides the game, Special Edition Bioshock 2 includes Vi...
"February was an incredibly busy month for video games, considering it’s only the beginning of the year. This episode, the guys from GamesCastLive chat about Mass Effect 2, Dante’s Inferno, Heavy Rain, MAG, MX vs ATV: Reflex and Aliens vs Predator. Find out what they had to say about these titles, as well as look forward to what March has to offer."
This guide to BioShock 2 contains a detailed walkthrough of the game's nine levels, with every Audio Diary (all 128 of them) and weapon upgrade station pointed out along the way.
The guide includes 30 videos and screenshots as well as text descriptions.
"According to 2K Marin's Kent Hudson, there are a few core qualities an enemy character should embody in order for playing a game to be fun. Most important among these is predictability. An enemy can be difficult to beat, but the player needs to be able to learn its movements and adapt to its strategies. Otherwise, attacks are coming out of nowhere and there's no way for the player to anticipate and adapt.
Makes sense. If only the team at 2K Marin had realized this before creating the Big S..."
"Gamers who have paid for the "downloadable content" for BioShock 2 are pretty upset after finding out it's not really downloadable content since it is already on the disc. While many sites have reported their suspicions about the ripoff, users from 2K's official forums are posting proof today."
"The NPD sales report for February is in and the Xbox 360 is the best selling hardware for the month. Finishing in second is the Nintendo Wii, with the PlayStation 3 in a distant third. Overall, the month was strong for all three home consoles and if things stay strong until summer, each system could be looking at a banner year.
Bioshock 2 for the Xbox 360 is the top-selling software title for the month, but Heavy Rain managed to make it into the Top 10 with sales breaking the 200,000 unit ..."
"You’re standing in a dank dungeon, looking for a door that doesn’t exist. The lights flicker, and you hear the raging scream of a distant enemy. Flump, flump – the steps are getting closer. Arming yourself with your favourite weapon, you peer around a corner in the low light and you see him: the Big Daddy. By this time in the game, you have crossed over a mysterious threshold – your brain has mapped itself into the undersea world of Rapture and all you care about is saving your own skin. An i..."
"The original BioShock was a game with great mystery and suspense, thrilling enemies, amazingly fun gameplay, and a twist that shocked almost everyone. Not only did it scare the heck out of me while playing, it also managed to do something no other game has done before which is why it won Game of the Year 2007. With that award, BioShock 2 has a big act to follow which may make or break the game depending on how much you liked the first. However, if you invite the idea of revisiting Rapture wit..."
"This week Andreas and Ronnie are talking about BioShock 2 multiplayer, Just Cause 2 demo, Bad Company 2 and more in the what they have been playing section. And for news its Scribblenauts 2 and Socom 4 revealed, Activsion vs. Infinity Ward, PS3 meltdown and more!"
Bioshock 2 has been praised but remains in the shadow of Bioshock. Many gamers didn't find it as fresh as the original. Regardless of how you rate the game, it is the "shock" franchise that set a standard for involved, cerebral FPS play when first-person shooters were mindless frag-fests.
"Gaming has seen some of its peaks in the past few years with some games bringing something new and revolutionary to the player. However some games have also shown us that fashion is a concept which is slightly overlooked and this has resulted in some of gaming’s most notorious fashion crimes. Here are our top 5 Fashion Crime of Gaming."

"Microsoft’s Games on Demand service for the Xbox 360 and Games for Windows – LIVE has had plenty of negative press since it’s arrival, yet Microsoft have persisted and continuously updated the catalogue on both formats. Over time, both marketplaces have evolved into competitive consumer outlets, while always maintaining the boundaries of later than retail, and slightly more expensive. Microsoft’s promise that the service wouldn’t tread on retail’s toes seemed to be holding true. However, only..."
A Japanese artist has 1-upped geek art by creating a full sized, beautifully detailed Bioshock "Big Daddy" sculpture... out of a tree...with a chainsaw...while wearing a hockey mask. Seriously
Although it may not have been as packed as the first month of 2010, February still provided plenty of great new releases, especially in regards to unique titles from niche genres.
"The most important thing to keep in mind about this game (if you have played the first one), is that while you may think its tantalizing to play as a Big Daddy, you are physically not any stronger then Jack was in the original Bioshock. You are actually just a prototype of the first Big Daddy that was produced , and while you can hold the weapons that Big Daddies do, you do not inherit the giant hulk like traits of the others."
"I’d like to take a moment to voice my opinion on Bioshock 2 and some of the reviews its received. Most notably the idea that it was more of an expansion, and that we shouldn’t have paid full price. I for one am a huge fan of the first game and was more then thrilled with the second, which was everything I’d hoped for and more."
"2K Games has announced today an aggressive post-launch downloadable content plan for BioShock 2 that extends and enhances the single and multiplayer experiences by adding more glimpses into the award-winning world of Rapture. Downloadable content (DLC) will be made available soon, beginning with the Sinclair Solutions Test Pack, available this March."
A brand new episode of the onCAST podcast is now ready to listen to! "“Let’s dance with them, Daddy,” sing the Little Sisters of Rapture (while watching an electrocuted Splicer convulse). This is one of the first and only times times you’ll laugh out loud while playing Bioshock 2. Diving back into what has perhaps become gaming’s most engrossing dystopian city is no less life-changing the second time around."
"In your first trip to Rapture, Bioshock managed to scare you, immerse you and shock you all at once. It truly revolutionized first person gaming and managed to bring some fresh, nail-biting gameplay. Now the time has come to step into Rapture once again, but will it be the same this time round? Splice yourself up and we’ll find out…"
"BradyGames’ BioShock 2 Signature Strategy Guide has been designed as a compliment to BioShock 2 in every way. From the imagery used to the fonts and page layout, the BioShock 2 Signature Strategy Guide successfully crosses the barrier between handy hints book and a fantastic example of BioShock merchandise. The fact that the hardback collector’s edition comes bundled with a set exclusive lithographs only sweetens the deal on a purchase that is near essential for fans of the BioShock series."
Another review that while not condemning BioShock 2 for being too much like the original, obviously lets the similarities influence the score. The review itself is almost more of a comparison between the original and sequel than a review of BioShock 2. Of course it seems like every B2 review is doing that.
All Age Gaming's Ian Crane takes a look at the follow up to the smash hit Bioshock. Bioshock 2 is another venture into the dark underworld known as Rapture. With a multiplayer mode now added to the great single player story, is the sequel a success like the original? Find out after the jump.
"Perhaps BioShock needed a sequel, and perhaps it didn't. Regardless, BioShock 2 is here and it's a great sequel that fixes the problems of the original and crafts another compelling tale within the walls of Rapture. Though a lot heavier on combat and full of intense battle sequences, it's still an adventure game at heart, with a great story told depending on your actions within this small slice of hell."
"Now remember how I said you’ll feel like you’ve never left? I meant it, and it’s perhaps the only aspect of the game that I really didn’t enjoy. As anyone who played the original will know, Big Daddies are hulking, armour-plated powerhouses that don’t go down without a difficult fight. In BioShock 2, you could almost argue that apart from the giant drill on his right arm (which conveniently disappears when you need it to) Subject Delta plays and feels almost identical to the original, fles..."
"On this weeks episode WildBillYurkas from Twitter joins Ronnie and Andreas to talk about January NPDs, Halo: Reach beta starting May 3rd, Ghost Recon: Future Solider announced and a lot more in the news section. And for what they have been playing its Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2 and MAG. Also make sure you listen to the end for an all out spoiler-riffic review of Mass Effect 2."
""Every year, there is a day that reminds us all of the people we cherish, love, in some cases tolerate and hopefully can call our Player 2. This week ends with Valentine's Day and for those of us who have someone to share the day with, it's a very special day to reaffirm the small commitments. For everyone else though, it's Sunday. In the meantime, there is always going to be at least one character in a game that the average gamer is going to garner a small crush on. Sure, they're digital, bu..."

Bioshock 2 brings us back to the strange and terrifying city of Rapture. Does it hold the same sense of mystique and wonder that the original game had in spades? Or is that strange feeling just too much deja vu?
Various BioShock 2 walkthrough videos are compiled together on one page by VGB. Helpful if you're looking to finish the new PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 FPS action-adventure game.
"BioShock 2 once again raises the question of whether or not to rescue or harvest Little Sisters – the gatherers of valuable ADAM, the element that allows the residents of Rapture to “evolve”, learning new abilities through the acquisition of Plasmids. A similarly neutered choice once more, as with the first title the rewards for either saving or harvesting every Little Sister are too close to offer a defining choice between personal gain and the aid of another, and most players will have deci..."
Bioshock 2's hacking is an integral part of the game - It's also impossible for many colorblind people to do.
Various members on the official forums have asked 2K Games to patch in some colour-changing options, as the colors in the hacking tool all look very similar to people with any form of color-blindness.

"The single-player serves as a sequel to the original game and provides fans with an unsettling storyline, dazzling visual design and the evolution of the genetically enhanced shooter gameplay. Set almost a decade after a gruelling civil war consumed the once magnificent city of Rapture, evil reverberates through the halls and a wickedness once thought gone forever returns along the Atlantic seaboard. An unspeakable series of kidnappings from local seaside communities by an unseen monster lead..."
There's been some talk going around lately about the relationship between Nintendo and third party developers. An example being difficulty with hardcore third party titles. Lee Evans has posted a blog entry going over some facts and figures in an effort to shed some light on the matter and the severity of the situation.
"Mitigating transition, Bioshock 2 is immediately familiar, with some minor changes. Picking up 10 years from the original, Rapture is still deteriorating from the oppressive rule under a new dictator, the Communist Sofia Lamb who offsets Ryan's Objectivism, and the incessant hunting of ADAM for diabolic intent. You play as the original Big Daddy and your motivations are the same the original protagonist: protect the weak and punish the large, only now it is personal (Like all good sequels, th..."
GameZone's Steven Hopper has delivered his final impressions of BioShock 2 and has came away decisively impressed with the full retail build. He even enjoyed the multiplayer, which some are calling a throwaway.
Until February 9th, Amazon is offering $10 future game credit with pre-order of Bioshock 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC), Dante's Inferno (Xbox 360, PS3, PSP), Scene It? Twilight (Nintendo DS) and Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll (Nintendo Wii) . With free shipping, no taxes in most states and already discounted price, this is the cheapest way to order these video games at this moment.
"Needless to say, with its presentation of an objectivist utopian culture gone awry, the original Bioshock doesn't paint the philosophical concept in a terribly positive light. However, almost as though playing the devil's advocate, the sequel is poised to further demonize the ideals of altruism, a concept that is as near to a polar opposite as could be possible. Altruism isn't so much as a philosophical concept as it is an ideal; one that focuses on a general sense of benevolence and utilizat..."
"The sequel to 2K's epic BioShock is set to launch next week, and we had the opportunity to hear just what's going on with the game. At this roundtable discussion of sorts, we sat down with Creative Director Jordan Thomas, Lead Designer Zak McClendon, Lead Environment Artist Hogarth De la Plante, and two guys from Digital Extremes -- Art Director Mat Tremblay and Lead Programmer Jesse Attard -- who developed the multiplayer component.
It was one of 2K's bigger (biggest?) interviews, so prep..."
"BioShock was one of the biggest surprises of 2007 and after a four-month delay, 2K Games is finally ready to retrun to Rapture with BioShock 2 this week. The PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sequel comes from a new developer (2K Marin), but gives gamers the chance to play as the series' iconic Big Daddy."
Could a Bioshock game be coming to the Wii sometime in future? According to 2K Marin's Jordan Thomas, it's a possibility, but nothing is planned for the Wii at the moment.
This is remniscent of the statement that 2K Boston tech director Chris Kline made over a year ago, when he said "I don't think there's anything preventing the game complexity of BioShock from being on the Wii."
"It has become too easy to forget what BioShock is, and too tempting to discuss it purely in terms of the more high-minded ideas behind its narrative, not the practicalities of what happens when we press buttons on the gamepad. It is a game in which you will spend much of your time messily ramming a drill-arm into the face of a screaming, swearing mutant in a party dress. While it's lovely that the voiceovers have a literate backdrop, this is not a game in which you will actively engage in con..."
With a protagonist change, online multiplayer, and added fragments to an already engaging story, Bioshock 2 should easily live up as one of the best games of the year. The dev team discusses its numerous refinements to the world of Rapture and discusses the game's biggest new features inside.
"The highly anticipated sequel to 2007’s critically-acclaimed BioShock is set for release next week, February 9th 2010, and to celebrate Electronic Theatre has teamed-up with BradyGames to give you the opportunity to win your very own copy of the BioShock 2 Signature Series Guide, the official guide for BioShock 2."
"This plush replica looks just like the doll Little Sister is seen carrying in the teaser images for Bioshock 2. Cobbled together from items she found in Rapture, the replica re-creates the look of Big Daddy's baseball head, wire frame cage, corkscrew arm and more. Plush body and rotocast plastic head. This doll stands almost 7" tall, made by NECA. Definitely a creepy and custom-looking production toy.
Shipping to retailers now; will be here in a week or so.
Retail price will be around $24."
Watch Tobin and Yuzo from NooBTooB preview all the games slated to come out between now and April.
Keep in mind they don't cover every game. Just those they deem will be either good or interesting.
"In order to take part in 2K Games, Scan Computers and HMV Gamerbase’s competition, all you need to do is make like you're in Rapture, and hack a PC! Just rock up to the HMV Gamerbase at London's Trocadero Centre, look for the BioShock area, and try your hand. It won't be easy though... you'll need to guess a six-digit code. If you don't succeed, you can always come back the following day and have another crack."
"With less than a week away from 2K Games’ release of the award winning second game in the Bioshock series we have a newly released “Bioshock 2 Official Release Trailer” (see second trailer below) for you, as well as some in-game footage where we explore the beautiful, yet treacherous, underwater world of Rapture.
There we will be fighting off other Big Daddies, taking Little Sisters under our arms, well, on our shoulders, and trying to beat off the new menace, the Big Sisters, and boy, is ..."
"Bioshock 2 is set to release on February 9th in North America on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. If you're planning to purchase the PS3 version of the game, you'll be required to install a mandatory 5GB of game data to play the title."
"2K has just released the Bioshock 2 launch trailer and it was in at a hefty 3 minutes and 15 seconds long. The launch trailer is a realization of the elements that BioShock 2 fans have been clamoring for. Breathtaking action set against the backdrop of a decaying underwater Utopia provides players with the slice of Rapture. With the release less then a week away we're sure itching to get ourselves in the world of Rapture."
"Action figures based on BioShock 2 are set to launch this week, and Electronic Theatre has today been informed that distribution to retailers began over this past weekend. Set to be available are the Deluxe Big Daddy Action Figure, Deluxe Big Sister Action Figure and the Deluxe Big Sister and Little Sister Action Figure Set, all of which you can see on this very page."
2K Games gets their hands dirty with the BioShock 2 Special Edition, and also the previously unannounced Uber Edition. If you're still considering, this video should help you make up your mind...or flee in terror. Be sure to watch it all.
After an impressive start of the year in January with games like Mass Effect 2, the gaming industry is hoping for another big month in February with another big slate of high-profile releases.
"Official strategy guide expert, BradyGames, today announced that it has been working exclusively with 2K Games on the BioShock 2 Signature Series Guide – the ultimate accessory for those set to dive back into the depths of Rapture, the underwater dystopia that serves as the location for one of the most anticipated games of 2010."
"K Marin has promised Bioshock fans that the second game in the series' multiplayer mode has been carefully thought out - and not "just shoved on".
Speaking to PC Zone in the magazine's latest issue, 2K Marin senior producer Melissa Miller said:
"Multiplayer is a big part of Bioshock 2 and it certainly wasn't something where we thought: 'Oh, let's just shove a multiplayer mode on.'
"We went to a lot of trouble [to ensure] that it was something that would fit properly into the Rapture ..."
"Nothing is certain in today’s game industry. But the closest you’ll come to a sure thing is that movies based on video games suck. There are exceptions, sure. But most of the time, gamers end up regretting their ticket purchase after watching their favorite game get some off the wall adaption on the silver screen that fails to encompass any of the elements that made the game so good. So to save the movie industry some time, we’ve compiled a list of the top 5 games that need to get big screen ..."
Steam has recently released their top 10 sellers for the week of January 17-23rd, and surprisingly the top sellers are actually Pre-Orders. With Mass Effect 2 being released on the 26th of January and being called by Time.com as "the Avatar of video games — except it's better written", it could hardly be surprising.

"With BioShock 2 just about to hit the shelves many excited gamers are straining at the bit to get their slimy little webbed hands on it as soon as possible and experience Rapture again.
Recently 2K Games Australia held a media event in Sydney to help local media groups understand a little more about the newest version of the oceanic world of The Cult of Rapture and, of course, BioShock 2.
They brought along Alex Vancomerbech, Level Designer, and Martin Slater, both from 2k Australia to ..."
"As of this writing, we’re already three weeks into 2010. The “new” year is already practically ancient, and pretty soon we’ll have run out of time to make wild, erratic, entirely factual predictions about things that will happen over the next 11 months. So with January nearly over, we’re going for the jugular and answering the question that’s on everyone’s mind: between the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and PC, which gaming platform will claim victory by the end of this year.
Experts antici..."
"We’re barely two weeks into 2010 and there’s already enough must-have games to choke one of Avatar’s six-legged horses. January alone is home to seven big-name releases, with February, March and April continuing the trend. Hell, we even know what’s coming in the summer and in some cases (like Halo Reach) we’re even certain of the fall’s heaviest hitters.
Collected here is every game that matters (so far) in 2010. Obviously some games will slip and others will be announced in June at E3, bu..."

"PSM3 awarded the follow-up 93%, saying it "Tops the original in terms of storytelling and combat."
PC Gamer meanwhile went with a lower but still impressive score of 90%, concluding that "the mechanics that made the original BioShock such fun return, better than before," and "it's still better written than pretty much anything else out there.""
"The first game introduced a camera mechanic, which allowed you to research enemy types by taking their picture. This would give you specific attack boosts against them when you take them on. Bioshock 2 takes this even further by giving you the ability to film your enemies as you attack them, employing a trial-and-error style of research."

"2010 looks to be the year of sequels. The industry loves them; this past year, the biggest selling titles were sequels – Halo 3: ODST, Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed 2. Sequels sell well because, obviously, they are recognizable to consumers. And what consumer doesn’t like to stay in their comfort zone? There’s plenty to be said for innovative new properties; games like Brutal Legend and Dead Space come out of nowhere to massive success (and inevitably start franchises of their own). Indi..."

"By this time of the year, we have little to look forward to, as we patiently await new announcements from the Electronic Entertainment Expo. This year, however, that's not the case. We have several games due in the next few months, including sequels to various hit franchises and a number of original titles. There are so many, in fact, that we struggled putting together a list of ten games we cannot wait to play. We even managed to cut Alan Wake, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Gran Turismo 5 and Super ..."

"It has been revealed that, despite the delay of BioShock 2 to 2010, an undisclosed studio is hard at work on the subsequent sequel, BioShock 3. Commonly expected for release in 2011, the intention to deliver BioShock 3 has been common industry knowledge for some time, however reports today suggest that the game has already entered development."
It's not suprising to be honest. Guitar Hero 5, Forza 3, Need For Speed Shift and a lotta games I missed have been making incentives to buy their games.

Recently Bioshock 2 received an impressive advertising event. Letters went out to gaming outlets with coordinates that lead to 9 different beaches around the world. Alongside that there was a time and date of when you should have arrived. Hundreds gathered to these beaches to find hundreds of wine bottles have washed up on shore. The wine bottles have the sweet rapture design on them and some have even been placed on ebay.

"After trying to get the 7" vinyl to work on our iPhones, Zunes, and PlayStation 3s, we finally got our hands on a record player. So what secrets lie within the grooves of the phonograph? Side A contained an anthem for Rapture, an uplifting number you might hear before a ball game... if that was the kind of thing they did underwater.
The B-side was mostly the same, a repeat of the anthem... to a point. As the music crackles and fades out, a little girls voice comes in, calling out for her ..."

"Yesterday we received copies of a 7" vinyl record from "Rapture Records." The labels and sleeve featured the familiar art deco typeface of BioShock but contain no information beyond that. Thankfully, certain members of our staff live firmly in the past and we've now listened to and transcribed the contents of the wax disc. As may be expected, clues to the upcoming game are hidden within the grooves."
Kotaku received a package in the mail this weekend, containing children's drawings of a Big Daddy, Little Sister and Big Sister. A teacher's note also accompanied the images...very mysterious -- cool stuff, 2K.
More bad news for the fans eagerly awaiting the "Bioshock" film adaptation. It seems as though Gore Verbinski is frustrated with all of the hold-ups of the movies he has been working on latley... It is also quite possible that the Bioshock movie might be dropped completley. If this occurs, then maybe Rapture might finally be built by the P.O'ed fans, and wage war against the Movie Industry.
"With fear of sounding like an old grouch, I recall days when the Internet was not so popular, or even not popular at all. For the video game world, this carried with it one wonderful positive: mystery. It's not that print media was completely free of giving us some juicy details months (even years) before we played a game, but it retrospect, it seems it was more tastefully done, and well-orchestrated, as opposed to what the rabidly curious nature of the Internet produces."
Some games are just meant be a singleplayer only game. Such as the first bioshock, which one game of the year from many publications. Well it was announced that Bioshock 2 will have multiplayer, while others rejoiced, some felt a little worried. Will the game be ruined by its multiplayer aspect?
"Bioshock was a game renowned for its singleplayer experience, and it's hard seeing how tacking three multiplayer game modes with a limited number of players onto the sequel will count for much of anything. I mean, it seemed to work fine and all, but just did not once ever make me think fickle multiplayer devotees would stop playing Call of Duty or Team Fortress 2 for this.
On the bright side, this has no bearing whatsoever on the game's singleplayer component..."

Bioshock 2 is set to blow away the gaming industry again, just like the first game. Now the game has a solid release date. It will come out for Europe a few days earlier then for North Americans. October 30th is the date for Europe and November 3rd for North Americans.
IGN have uploaded a 9 minute long Bioshock 2 video, that has Jordan Thomas (the creative director) explaining the gameplay mechanics, the outline of the plot, and what changes have been made from the original.

"It's almost 2 weeks until the Electronic Entertainment Expo for 2009 and it is hyping up to be one of the best yet. Here are a few of the many notable events and products which you should get excited about - whether they happen or not is another question?"
"So, we've heard the devs' opinions on BioShock 2. Unsurprisingly, they like their own game. But as Charlie pointed out in the intro to that feature, even the biggest BioShock fan must be skeptical. And that's where I come in.
Let’s just get one thing straight from the start. I adore BioShock. Seriously. To the degree that I could quite happily get into a knife fight to defend its honour. It’s a rare indulgence of the universe for a game to come along which seems to have been so perfectly d..."
"2K Games announced today that it has signed a partnership with Digital Extremes to develop the multiplayer experience for BioShock 2. Under this partnership, Digital Extremes is working closely with the creative team at 2K Marin to develop a new and substantial element that enhances the lore and fiction of the BioShock universe."
Bioshock 2 is still in production, but the makers are already discussing the possibility of a Bioshock 3. 2K Marin's creative director, Jordan Thomas, has recently revealed that the setting for Bioshock 3 might once again be Rapture.
"I absolutely believe that there might be future games set in Rapture in whatever time period," he said.
"Like me, you undoubtedly have more questions. It would seem that these small first details are just enough to get the curiosity wheels turning. And while I pray BioShock 2's twist ending, if there is to be a twist ending, remains a secret until I can take my first journey through this narrative-driven sequel, I'm anxious to find out more about Rapture 10-years later, and all the new characters we can expect to find there. When asked about the good-guy-who-is-a-bad-guy template, Thomas dodges ..."

The Bioshock movie has been in pre-production for some time now, with even Gore Verbinski, the man behind Pirates of the Caribbean acting as director. However the movie has recently encountered a hitch in the form of Universal halting production, apparently trying to find ways to decrease the film's expected $160 million budget. This doesn't look like it will permanently derail the movie, already alternatives are being found (like moving the filming to London) but things are definitely up in ...
There are pre-E3 events going on and our teams at 1UP and UGO have been attending meetings, parties and demo sessions getting all the pre-event dirt. During a meeting last week, our very own Chris Plante was provided with yet anotherBioshock 2 mystery - Big Sister is not the central villain.

"Bioshock 2, previously dubbed Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams is due to launch in Q4 2009, and is possibly my second most anticipated sequel sat beside God of War III. The first game literally blew my mind, from the unique and diverse gameplay, to the grim setting and peerless storytelling of the legend Andrew Ryan. It just leave me amazed either, it also left me with thousands of questions despite picking up nearly every audio tape and extensive wiki research.
When Bioshock 2 was announced afte..."
OXCGN writers do their usual investigative digging and look at the new Bioshock 2: Sea Of Dreams Trailer as well as the excellent viral site, There's Something In The Sea.
Go check it out, and the walk-through video unearthing the various reports, from police, FBI, Interpol as well as first hand encounters. Definitely worth investigating the deeper depth of the underwater world of Rapture
The first gameplay trailer of Bioshock 2 is up, and even at this early stage appears in all aspects to be a good looking game. The trailer shows you tailing the Big Sister, surviving underwater and protecting your own Little Sister from a group of Splicers. The creepy aspect of the game is certainly still there, with the Big Sister in particular looking to be a memorable opponent.
A 2K forum moderator has translated German magazines PC Games and Play3, revealing a lot of new info, as well as detailing a gameplay presentation of Bioshock 2. The facial animation is apparently a lot better, Tannenbaum is set to return, the Big Sister will change over the course of the game and much, much more. The presentation is summarized below.
Looks like 2K are certainly not the most coherent developers out there. It was stated here that Bioshock 2 would not have a subtitle, only for another developer to deny that just a few days later here. Now they've backflipped again in a interview with IGN, claiming Sea of Dreams was the title of the original teaser trailer only.
Contary to earlier reports, 2K's BioShock sequel will retain its subtitle 'Sea of Dreams'. It would seem their Community Manager Elizabeth Tobey is misinformed, though perhaps they were considering dropping the name.
"We asked publisher 2K Games for clarification and heard from Community Manager Elizabeth Tobey, who had this to say:
“You won’t be seeing ‘Sea of Dreams’ moving forward, just ‘BioShock 2.’”
There it is. Just BioShock 2."
Bioshock 2: Sea Of Dreams is the cover story for the latest Gameinformer (which you can get in a store near you) was also the first to reveal all the info about the new game. Such as you play as a Big Daddy and you have to watch out for Big Sisters. But this issue also holds the first screenshots of the game. Check out these HQ scans.
You may have gotten to play a small section of the original Bioshock, but according to Game Informer in Bioshock 2 you'll spend the entire game as one! You get your own Little Sister to protect and help harvest, there is a mulitplayer mode confirmed and apparently you can get jumped by the Big Sister at any time in the game, it occurring when you kill too many too Big Daddies.
"Rumours on the internet claim that Microsoft has been gunning for another timed exclusive with the sequel, fueled by a recent release schedule from 2K that listed the game's platform as TBA.
A 2K rep has however confirmed to CVG that the game is definitely coming to Sony's console, although we're awaiting word back on whether or not the game will be a timed exclusive like the original, which released on 360 over a year before the PS3."
"Game Informer's April cover confirms what Kotaku readers already knew: Big Sister will greet gamers when they land in BioShock 2's Rapture later this year.
The cover shows off the new creature, which we described as an amazonian version of the Big Daddy, wearing similar, though svelter, gear. The image depicts a Little Sister riding on the back of the Big Sister in a sort of papoose cage."
If you have been to the viral site for BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams, you may remember having seen numerous mentionings of tall, skinny people kidnapping little girls. We would expect big daddies to kidnap little girls, yes, but they obviously aren't skinny. Kotaku seems to offer an answer to this puzzler:
Has the new teaser site for BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams given away its setting? Some people seem to think so, and they think that the sequel just might be set in the lost city of Atlantis. If so, we might see another underwater setting similar to that of the original game's Rapture.
Bioshock 2 has now gotten its very own viral site, the site can be found at http://www.somethinginthesea.com/ on the site can be found an article about a girl who has been kidnapped and a picture of a strange looking creature.
A good guess would be that this site will be getting updated regularly.
Do you remember the article about the home-made life size portal gun? Well the creator of that gun went on to create more video game memorabilia. This time its the syringe from Bioshock. What will he make next?
Of course, GameStop seems to not know what it's talking about half the time, like many other retailers (see: StarCraft II release date) and has a love of throwing out random release dates, so with that in mind, they're saying BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams will be out this October. Sounds about accurate..
"The rumor mill pulled up a doosey today. BioShock 2 may be hitting a console its predecessor left out - the Wii. 2K Games recently posted a job listing online looking for a UI Programmer specifically for the game. That doesnt seem out the ordinary until you read their desired skills."

"For Bioshock, because its so story driven, the question obviously arises: how long can you do it without turning into The Matrix? The first Matrix was great, the second one was weird and the third one, you thought: Who [making this] is on crack and who isnt?. But, then again, look at Star Wars. Its a fight between good and evil, just like Bioshock. If we spin it the right way and get the right twist of innovation, we can make six parts of it, as Star Wars did.

2K Games has announced that their upcoming sequel Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams will be available for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 when the title hits sometime late 2009.
While un-offical video taken off the PS3 version of BioShock 1 have come over the net, this one comes straight from 2K Games Australia, developers (in part) of BioShock with the "Official Announcement" that the game will ship on THREE Platforms.
Head over to the site to check out the official trailer from 2k Games and the Poll. Remembering, this is not a repeat, but actual press release info from 2K Games today.
A teaser trailer for Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams was shown on the PS3 version of the game. And now Charles Shechbeck, one of the developers of the title, has come forward to add a little more fuel to the fire. The game is confusingly described as a prequel and a sequel at the same time and apparently the replica of Rapture is meant to represent something significant. Or perhaps not, there is a lot of vagueness there, as normal with a newly announced title.
Those who finish the PS3 version of Bioshock are in for a special treat. Unlocked in the extras after the game's completion is a teaser trailer for the sequel, the game being titled Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams. It involves a grown up Little Sister sitting on the beach while a sand version of Rapture rises from the sand. A user has managed to upload some screenshots of the video.
Update: Video has been added.
BioShock was a popular Xbox 360 game, will the PS3 version also turn out to be a success? According to Gamespot's hands-on article, it's taking the right path.
They note that the PS3's control feel better and the rumble feature adds a cool touch to the game. In addition, the game has all of the DLC that the Xbox 360 version had and as we know already, will feature trophy support.
While what Gamespot got to see was promising, they left wanting a lot more.
"Bronze rewards will be dished out for researching, modifying weapons, hacking and crafting, with each skill apparently "loaded" with awards. You could find yourself up to "your armpits in prizes", said Finley.
Silver Trophies will be more rare. The one example used was the historian award, given to those who find all the audio diaries in Rapture. They reveal lots of back-story behind events unfolding during the game and it's worth doing anyway, we reckon.
Meanwhile, gold Trophies are fo..."
