Blood of Bahamut

Blood of Bahamut

Less than a week is left before the game is released in Japan and Square Enix have showed off a bunch off screenshots of the game in action along with some awesome concept art featuring Bahamut. If you haven't been keeping this game on your radar, you might want to start. There's literally a ton of pictures found in the source so be sure to check it out.

"So it looks like Square Enix, is finally releasing information about Blood of Bahamut, their new DS game. Thus far, we have seen fantastic pictures of giant monsters who share names with Final Fantasy summons we know and love.

Well, it looks like summons are back, but not with Shiva and co. as your allies. Ibuki, the protagonist, is the sole summoner left in a world filled with gigantic monsters. The power of a summoner is obtained from the power of the souls of dragons residing within ..."

If you thought the Shiva and Ifrit summons were huge in the upcoming game, Blood of Bahamut, check out what Square Enix have done to Gilgamesh. The 6 handed warrior will be wielding a sword in each hand as he rotates his body to attack.

Accompanying the reveal of Gilgamesh, they've also showed off a new hero. Len joins the party as a swordsman who hails from the beast, Gigant.

It is not as much a trailer as it is a montage of concept art with a few a goodie bags of gameplay tossed in here and there, but it is an interesting look into the Square Enix's upcoming Blood of Bahamut nonetheless. For all those who do not understand Japanese, the highlights of this trailer include an exhibition of the main characters, a few extended glances of battling scenes and some epic artwork of the aeons.

"While Gigant and Ifrit are wild they massive creatures are also a home to many. Ibuki lived on Gigant and a horned ally lives on Ifrit’s fiery back. Kamo=Ogre carries a huge axe and like Ifrit he has some fire skills. If there is one monster-like ally in Ibuki’s party there are probably others. We just don’t know about them yet."

"Square-Enix has announced their 2009 line-up of titles. Some of these have not been nailed down for a North American or European release as of yet, but given their track record it is only a matter of time.

The Line-Up:
Dragon Quest IX: Hoshizora no Mamoribito (DS)
Dragon Quest Monster Battle Road II (Arcade)
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (DS)
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (PSP)
Kingdom Hearts Coded (Mobile)
Kingdom Hearts Mobile (Mobie)
Lost Winds (Wii)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle..."

We uncovered some new details (and a trailer) for you over on Neoseeker yesterday, and now there's yet more information, courtesy of Famitsu (via IGN). The preview goes in-depth on the development team (Bahamut Lagoon, anyone?), goals, number of beasts, beast types, and lots more. Check it out if you're interested in the game!

It was just a rumour as to what platform it would be released on yesterday, but it seems all but confirmed now as the latest issue of Jump Magazine confirms the platform and that the game will be an Action RPG.

Other details released are that there are two main characters, Ibuki and Yui and this could very well be a 4-player game, with 2D sprites fighting in a 3D environment.

If your an RPG gamer then you most certainly know who Bahamut is, and if you don't... where have you been living? One of the popular Summons from the Final Fantasy Series, it seems that he may very well be getting a game of his own. With "Blood of Bahamut" a trademarked name by Square-Enix a website for the game has gone live, and we have to wait 5 days to uncover the truth as to what the game will be about, and most importantly what platforms:- Consoles or Handheld.
