"The recent end to 2009 and all the holidays that lead up to the New Year involved a lot of traveling to a lot of different relative's houses. Since I'm the "gamer" of the family, it's usually up to me to bring some form to digital entertainment or know the latest stuff out there. The following list are some of the games requested to me and ones that are always crowd pleasers."

The NPD Group before the weekend released the top twenty software and top ten software by platform lists for the January 2009 sales numbers, showing the top rankings in software sales for the month. The top ten rankings for accessory sales are also available.

Rachael Quattrini of gotgame.com has made one of the more interesting top lists of recent. This one is for the top five games in terms of usage of the Nintendo DS features. These range from the use of the microphone for in-game functions or the touch screen and stylus.

Each game is justified by some reasons why it deserves to be on the list. Are there any other games you felt made good use of the Nintendo DS capabilities?

"Bioshock
This atmospheric first-person shooter game drew players in to a unique dystopian setting and broke ground with a storyline that forced players to make moral decisions.

Portal
One of the most original (and funny) games in recent history requires players to solve puzzles using a teleporting "Portal Gun." It also features a hugely compelling character in the computerized guide GLaDOS.

Rock Band
The studio that created toy-guitar game phenomenon "Guitar Hero" cranked the volume ..."

It is good to see grandma and grandpa finally getting into some video games. These senior citizens have always been trying to keep their minds work and non-senile for all of time, and brain training games now seem to be the solution. And the fad is spreading fast; just a couple days ago, I saw my friend's grandpa playing Brain Age. Watch out, kiddies, your grandparents might take over your title as the gamers of the family.
