Looking back at your collection of games can lead to many discoveries, like which ones you bought used. Default Prime author Kyree Leary has made one such discovery. And even though he bought these games used, they led to many new game purchases. He thinks it evens out.

"PushStartSelect: "Activision has promised that their promises will be fulfilled, eventually, when it comes to Call of Duty Elite. While the service is still lacking those promises, we are finally starting to get dates from them and can look forward to something happening for once. Well that is unless you are a PS3 player paying for Elite and expect to be treated equally. ""
There's a few things in the gaming world that irritate gamers. Some of these include yearly releases for franchises like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed, release day DLC, none optional motion controls, discriminatory online gaming, as well as many more. The question is can the gaming industry rid itself of some of these issues?
It's Tuesday, so that means another Top 10 from Gaming Irresponsibly. This week list is the Top 10 Current Franchises in Need of a Reboot. These 10 franchises all need a serious change.
"Hello Activision, I’m sorry I missed your call. Actually, it seems that I’ve missed several calls in the past few years. I mean to make it up to you, but before I do, just let me say this – as politely as I can – if you’d stop calling me so often, I might actually pick up once in while.
I bought Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and World at War (the fifth entry in the series) a while ago, but I haven’t had the time to play them. Two more Calls have come since then, and with the third Mod..."
"There’s something about certain games that naturally draw me in. This is considerably easier with any sort of RPG that involves decisions and progression that allow you to influence not only your character, but the actual game itself. I’ve spent so much time with these games because I’m able to make the character my own, affect the environment, and play the game almost exactly how I want to play it."
"It's been a long-running complaint that games are too expensive. With literal metric boatloads of games coming out every month, and at a $60 price tag, it's not an invalid complaint, either. In just this October, it'd be easy to break $200 on just the more anticipated games, if you were going all console-releases. It'd be even more than that if you wanted to pick up games that could be considered “major releases.” That's a lot of money, yo."
"Reckon you could no-scope a man at thirty metres before he even has time to take aim? Then point your trigger finger towards the sign up page for Corsair’s upcoming Call of Duty 4 tournament and get ready to kill men for money. Corsair are getting into keyboards and mice, and they’ve put together the $10,000 Vengeance Cup to put their new gear through its paces. You can register a spot for your team on the Vengeance Cup website now."
"If you fancy yourself a thrifty gamer, then you’ll want to take a look at this list of top ten video games for sale for under $10. Whether you play games on the PC, Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3, you’ll find something for you in the list of discount games. Some of these video game deals will only be around for one day, so hurry up and save yourself some money."
"Gamers are finding it exceedingly difficult to invest in multiple games throughout the year due to financial constraints. As a result of that, gamers are directing their spending power to a limited number of games, or rather franchises."

"For this top 10 list I have decided to countdown my 10 favorite video game heroes. These characters earn a spot on this list by being courageous, daring, strong, skilled, smart, or any combination of those that make them shine above the crowd. These characters are vital to the survival of numerous people and they are the best at what they do. I’ve only included characters from games that I have personally played. Here’s my 10 favorite video game heroes:"
There are always those moments in certain video games that make you do a double take and think to yourself, "What the heck just happened?" A mark of a memorable game is when...
"COD is a bit of a fishy beast. In theory, a game that remains the same year in, year out with only minimal upgrades and some new levels shouldn’t do well. It should probably be instead a fond memory, drifting in the breeze and whispered only in passing by those who still recall the good times they had with the product. The exact same thing recently happened with Guitar Hero; after years of stagnant gameplay that did absolutely nothing to innovate, the franchise itself has been put indefinitel..."
"As you may have heard, Activision have a new money making bee under their bonnet to release along side Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 christened Call of Duty Elite. Call of Duty Elite is basically a service similar to Bungie.net that will allow players to access more information about their playing such as analysis of perfomances of different maps with different guns etc, along with massively streamlining the competitive multiplayer scene allowing teams to be made and entered into competition..."
Activision has recently brought up their monthly subscription fee service for Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3 in the Call of Duty service and is pricing out what enhancements will be charged and which will be free. Overall, what is the impact this has on the game industry and shooter genre?

The end times are here! In video games, at least. Here are nine killer examples of nukes rockin' the world in video games and the fallout that comes after. Pun totally intended.
As soon as the Guitar Hero franchise was put to rest last week, many gamers were afraid that eventually the same situation will occur for Call of Duty. Check out the full article to find out why that may not be the case. Cheers!
Call of Duty is a franchise that, much like the Guitar Hero franchise Activision has just killed off, has been accused day in and day out by gamers of being milked. Here's my in-depth analysis on how and why I believe Call of Duty will meet the same fate in due time.
FPS fans will definitely want to check out this retrospective fan video compilation covering 30 years worth of games in the genre. We've come a long way, baby.
"Overall, the Call of Duty franchise has made lasting effects on the FPS realm. They have had a massive variety of features created and then copied by other games. Sadly, one of those is dedicated servers. It is a sad day whenever I see a PC game actually advertise dedicated servers on the back of the box."
"I thought this appropriate after hearing the release numbers for the latest game in the series (Black Ops). Hearing that it had the biggest release day, beating Modern Warfare 2, and also had the most money spent on it for development, I expected…more."
If you signed on the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare today (as thousands of people do daily), then you were prompted to download a 2 MB title update for the game. It is surprising to see Infinity Ward still supporting a game that is now over three years old.
"I still have albums upon albums of MP3’s that I have never paid for, many of which go back ten years. Several of these albums I’ve since purchased a legal copy of, but that still leaves a bevy of tunes that are just sitting there in my iTunes library glaring at me with their filthy illegality. Flip open Steam though and you’ll find a myriad of recent purchases and idiotic but legal financial decisions. This inequity is not based on my respect for games publishers over musicians and record lab..."
"As video games become more and more robust in terms of content and story development, we are greeted with characters that can feel very human. Though they live mainly off of scripted cues, they play a vital role in how games impact us."
"Everyone loves finding something in a game before anyone else, particularly if it’s a delicious secret and they’ve beaten everyone to the punch – that’s the cool thing about stumbling on an Easter Egg way before any other gamer has and why the internet is full of spoilers showing them all off. Just check Google or Youtube and you’ll be virtually bombarded with the exploits of people who found something before anyone else – on top of it, they won’t ever let you forget it. Ever. But, what if th..."
Publisher Activision today announced that the numerous downloadable map packs from the Call of Duty franchise have combined to sell over 20 million units.
"A mother from the great state of Texas was outraged after she learned that her little 11-year-old son was sent some raunchy pornography on Xbox LIVE by another gamer the child had met while playing online. "When they are playing against their friends, it's a controlled environment," explained mom Rosie Garcia. "But when they join a party, it can be someone in Japan, Australia, anywhere in the world.""
"Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has recently made the statement that, “The Call of Duty franchise is a force of nature. I think it is the closest thing this generation has to a Star Wars. I think it’s unique and bigger than any musical act or any movie franchise in that capacity.” While we appreciate Mr. Kotick’s enthusiasm for his product, we don’t believe there’s been a game that has come close to the cultural impact that Star Wars had when it was released in 1977. However, we humbly submit fiv..."
According to Square Enix, who published Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in Japan, the two Modern Warfare games have reached an impressive shipment milestone.
"Activision have shown the love so far with Vacant, Strike, Crash and Overgrown included in the current expansion packs, but we just want that little bit more. Here is what we would like to see in any future expansion packs"
GameZone's Dave Snell discusses the current climate of the gaming industry with downloadable content and how it is affecting the full title and gamers.
"Every once in a while, however, an achievement comes along that makes you think, "They want me to do what?!" Here is a list of 10 of the most ridiculously lengthy and/or challenging Xbox 360 achievements dreamed up by game developers. Try tackling any of them and you might wind up forsaking friends, family and even your sanity in the quest for higher Gamerscore."

"But Infinity Ward are shedding staff like nobody's business - and the MW franchise is 'damaged', according to rival EA. Who better to save the Modern Warfare series from oblivion than the most celebrated FPS developer in the world?
Bungie and Activision are bosom buddies - and it's not as if the publisher doesn't have the money and power to (a) Increase Bungie's headcount so it can work on two projects and (b) Change the Washington-based firm's mentality of concentrating solely on one IP."
"Activision revealed earlier this year that newly-formed Sledgehammer Games will develop a spin-off Call of Duty title, rumored to be a third-person shooter. When asked if it was possible two Call of Duty titles could be released in 2011 and if the company was worried about diluting the market, Tippl wouldn't clarify, only saying that Activision has set high standards for its titles."

"Mother's day is just around the corner and without a doubt is a day to pay homage to the person who served as a mobile spawn point while we waited in our own personal matchmaking lobby for a full nine months. Sure, flowers and candy would do or a trip to the spa might be the best gift possible for mommy dearest. Maybe even a dinner and movie to remind her of her motherly instincts and how much you certainly love her in one fell swoop. Any of these things would be awesome and in your thankfuln..."
Yup folks, Treyarch's next installment to their Call Of Duty stockpile is fixed for release this November much like Modern Warfare 2 did last year. Call Of Duty: Black Ops has yet to have been seen, so nothing is actually confirmed as of yet but speculation links it to the Vietnam conflicts.
Be sure to check gametrailers tonight for a first look at the game.
"Infinity Ward has experienced numerous defections since Activision sacked the two heads of the Call of Duty franchise. With the development of the franchise now spread across two other development groups, Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey thinks it likely that Infinity Ward will be shut down after the next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map pack is released."
Researchers announced that fast pace, violent video games, specifically Call of Duty and Resident Evil, improve quick thinking and mental flexibility and should be played by youth and elderly.
This week's The Bender sees the return of Perry, which finds the cast talking more than usual (thus this week you get an extra half hour of show for free!). Mike has Mapathy moral issues, Richard will own every shooter game ever, and James brings the only good things that came from April Fools. "First and foremost, in terms of allaying fears regarding the prospect of swiftly crumbling standards, Call of Duty would certainly be in safe hands without Infinity Ward. Activision’s increasingly dubious image aside, long-serving understudy Treyarch has carved itself a respectable reputation in the marketplace after helming three Call of Duty titles since 2005, while franchise newbie Sledgehammer isn’t without considerable promise.
Treyarch, in representing something of a dependable Obsid..."
"Videogames players heading to i39 this April could return with more than new friends and happy memories as organiser Multiplay has unveiled the UK's biggest gaming bounty. A total of over £20,000 will be up for grabs across five separate tournaments, making this the largest and potentially most profitable competitive gaming event of the year."

Activision has confirmed that there will be a new Call of Duty game coming out before the end of this year in their latest quarterly financial briefing.
If enjoy shooters but they aren't really your thing, this is an interesting look at why MAG might be for you. On the surface, a 256 player game is probably what attracts most players MAG, but there are some other features that might be of interest (like the fact that "every second person I meet isn’t a giant douche"). Of course, this is for those that aren't as into the Call of Duty franchise as some might be.
"Every so often I hear people talk about how they miss the days when Japan ran the game industry. I don't think they so much miss the days when Japanese developers were on top of the world as much as they miss the days when Japanese developers/publishers actually worked in large to promote creativity rather than just follow trends. Those days have faded. While many great games still come out of Japan, thanks mostly to their always shrinking console market and a lack of knowledge on how to revi..."
"Deciding the victor in terms of unique users that have logged-on to play online, Halo 3 remains the most popular Xbox LIVE title of the 2009 calendar year. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 take second and third place respectively, while Call of Duty: World at War and Gears of War 2 manages to round-out the top five. Resident Evil 5, however, has been split into two entries – that of the North American and European release, and that of the Japanese title under ..."
Music is always a personal thing, and it's hard to say which score is better than another. Especially in games. Some can be created with simple software, others take huge production time and musicians months or years to prepare.
What we do here is look at some of the most "original" soundtracks of this past decade, and see which one our writer puts at the top of his list.
Come check out, share your thoughts.
With EA's announcement of the Medal of Honor reboot, gamers got a chance to take a gander at the new box art for the game. While it is almost assuredly just a temporary image to be used as filler for retailers, there is no denying that the artwork is strikingly similar to another modern day FPS...
"The juggernaut that is Modern Warfare 2 has been released and with just two weeks of it being on shelves gamers are already criticizing the game’s length and content in comparison to Modern Warfare 1.
So here we’ll take a look and compare Modern Warfare 1 and Modern Warfare 2 and see exactly where things have changed for better or worse and try to just figure out wtf?! Infinity Ward wanted to portray in Modern Warfare 2.
So back in 2007 when Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Modern Warfar..."
"It’s always interesting to take a look at what titles round out the top 10 most played games on Xbox Live and what it says about the Xbox community. Since the release of Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4, they’ve both shared some time at the top spot. Same can be said about Call of Duty: World at War, but a little game called Modern Warfare 2 released on November 10th and it should be no surprise to anyone that it became the most played game on Xbox Live."
Celebrating the 360's fourth anniversary IGN takes a look at the top 25 games on the console including some new and old releases over the years. The list is comprised of a wide variety of genres and features XBLA games for those looking for something on a budget. 360 owners can see what they've missed out on and put on their list for the holiday season.
"Modern Warfare 2 has been unleashed and has resulted in mass hysteria at retailers around the globe. Being Call of Duty, it’s only natural that such hype should be sustained by a brand name alone. But how long can Activision annually release the same series before their work reaches the predictability of other industry juggernauts such as Madden and Guitar Hero?"
"Below is a list of the top downloaded items from the PlayStation Store for the week ending October 22nd. This week Call of Duty: World at War and Fallout 3 both dominate the chart. The number one spot is occupied by the latest COD: WAW Map Pack for the second straight week. Fallout 3’s add on content has been very popular over the past few weeks. Check back each week for the lastest and most popular downloads from the PlayStation Store."
A great episode of The Bender this week, lots of topics covered, both good and sad. Mike gets a little miffed at the XNA games people are buying. James gushes over the Saturn being the best controller ever. And Intern Perry is back. Listen live/stream with iTunes here or download the mp3 directly here
"I’ve never been more excited in my life. I’m given an opportunity to publically vent my personal feelings over Call of Duty 4, and I know you’re all immediately going to go batshit crazy once it’s published. So with the possibility of death threats aside, let’s crack on with why I plain just don’t like Call of Duty 4.
First off, I’m not one of those irritating people that “dislike” something just to stand out from the crowd. I don’t really mind the whole hype malarkey as it usually tends t..."
"With Gamer on the horizon, we've decided to celebrate the moments when games and movies converge, creating scenes that'd look as good on cinema screens as they do on our battered portable tellies.
So, rest your joypad on one knee, rest your DVD remote on the other knee, and join in. How many have you played?"
"It has been revealed this morning that the forthcoming Wii conversion of the hugely successful Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will receive a name change upon release. This latest instalment in the series on Wii will arrive the same day as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, and the Nintendo DS release of Call of Duty: Mobilised."
"Heaven Media has announced a new co-operation between competitive gaming website Esports Heaven and OCZ Technology, the Californian company famous for their high quality range of hardware. Gamers from around Europe will have until the end of August to register to take part in one of these two high-profile events, which will see over two hundred and fifty keenly fought battles between some of the best teams around."
"Activision has told CVG that there will be no multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The last Inifinity Ward developed Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, had a popular public beta released in advance of the game's sale date.
For those looking forward to the new multiplayer features in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it looks like you'll have to wait until the game hits store shelves on November 10."
"Every time a game is successful, critically or commercially, folks start speculating about sequels. Will there be a sequel? How many sequels? When will we see the sequel? What will happen in the sequel? Who shows up in the sequel? Sequel?
That’s too obvious. A truly compelling game deserves the exact opposite. If the story is masterfully written, players will want to see how it actually started. If the world is deeply designed, players will insist on seeing how it first formed. And if the ..."
War, it has been said time and time again, is Hell. On the virtual battlefields of recent war games, more of an effort is being made to portray the harsh realities of warfare. The best example is, of course, Call of Duty 4; it is a war story of broken men out for blood, dicey international relationships and the grim reality of the front line. It was a ballsy story for sure – without spoiling it, the event that occurs at the end of Act 1 is gut-wrenching in a way few war stories can achieve.

According to Kotaku, publisher Activision Blizzard is expected to announce that it will bringing the Modern Warfare series to the Wii tomorrow, with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on November 10th.
Now, read that last sentence carefully, folks.
Although only a rumor that will probably get confirmed tomorrow, Activision will be releasing a two-year-old port on the Wii day and date with the game's sequel.
CoD4 prints money!
"According to Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling, a Call of Duty 4 patch has been sent to Microsoft and Sony for certification, which should foil any nefarious individuals who want to continue to cheat at the game. In the meantime, a playlist update will stop them in public matches, so you should have a hacking-free multiplayer experience now."
Great episode of The Bender, we wish a happy birthday to the ESRB, discuss blackmailing of Modern Warfare .. 4, we briefly finish up talking about that whole racism/Left 4 Dead 2 situation, and enjoy those Disney steampunk art. Enjoy! Click to download/stream through iTunes or download the mp3 here
"It's official people. Call of Duty 4 is dust. I'm told it's called the UFO glitch and it began in full force Thursday night. Shout out to jjdajetplane333 for letting me know about it. This is from the PS3. I'm not sure Xbox 360 users are dealing with this. Mark it down on your calendars. COD 4, R.I.P."
"In regards to subsequent titles after MW2, it appears that Treyarch’s next stab at the franchise may center on the Vietnam War with possible espionage missions based on The Cold War era, and I have previously suggested that Future Warfare would be received well, should it be the decided direction when the series inevitably shifts gears again.
But what about the Civil War? Would this be a viable course for the franchise at some point in the future?"
"The question of the week this week involves the many different weapons introduced with gaming; some are possible but others are completely too bad-ass to be true. Weapons have been very created especially in the first person shooter genre (Including one of the most creative guns I have ever heard; the Landshark Gun).
For my favorite weapon I’m going to have to go with the Landshark gun from Armed and Dangerous. Actually, it’s better to say EVERY weapon from Armed and Dangerous, but we’ll f..."
"I don't think the top five games will be changing anytime soon. If anything, we can only hope that when Modern Warfare 2 releases, it will unite those who split from World at War and CoD4, so we can at least see some other games make their way onto the list.
However, I foresee a similar split between Halo 3 and Halo ODST users when that drops, probably taking the 3 and 4 spot, but that is quite a while away. I love seeing the strong support of Left 4 Dead despite the turmoil that game cr..."
"Have you ever talked with someone whose voice you would never forget, no matter if you never saw their face? Well, David Sobolov is one of those people. His voice has been featured in over 40 video games, such as Halo Wars, Call of Duty 4, as well as the upcoming Brutal Legend. Blend Games recently spoke with Sobolov, whose voice is being featured in a new iTunes application called iMEvil."

"6:00 AM – Slice and dice, bub.
They start out with a pretty decent title, one of those cases where the game is better than the movie. X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
10:00 AM – If only Jack Ryan had his wings.
Out of all the clues, this is the only one that has me slightly confused. So I checked where all bargain gamers like myself would go, Cheap Ass Gamer. Most users are saying it is Tom Clancy’s HAWX, so I’m going to agree for now.
Another guess is Bioshock (based on “Jack Ryan” being in..."

"With the dawn of the new century came the dawn of a new console, the Playstation 2. A significant upgrade over its earlier iteration, the system provided developers with the power they needed to develop more involving and expansive games.

"Cover systems aren’t exactly something that have been there since the start for the shooter genre. My own first experience of the cover systems are the snap-on cover mechanics used in Metal Gear Solid, and also the flawless chunky cover system in Gears of War for the Xbox 360. I am a huge fan of developers implementing cover systems into any shooting games, but then again I may be outspoken. For example, a massive number of gamers may play Gears 2 online which may suggest that covers systems ..."
Major Nelson has posted up the Live Activity for the week of May 11th, and with that comes some regulars, along with some .. weirdness... such as the fact that the UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo has made it's way on the top ten for the fourth week in a row! I played it, I don't get it, how is this on the list.. *shrugs shoulders*. Though being out a year and a half, as well as having a sequel, Call of Duty 4 continues to carry a high rank on the list :D
Callum over at Pixelated Gamer has written an article that really speaks to me (as I wrote something similar back in December). Xbox Live Party Chat is really killing the social aspect that was brought about by random people playing. It is terrible that Microsoft has not issued a patch of some form to at the very least, make party chat inactive during ranked games (private games should be allowed).
"That’s right. According to The Hollwood Reporter, it seems that Activision have set up deals for “Call of Duty: The Movie”, the movie for the very popular video game.
“[The Call of Duty movie is] being talked about for the big screen,” said one person with knowledge of the deal.
However, in an interview prior to Thursday’s quarterly earnings conference call, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick wouldn’t comment on the status of Call of Duty becoming a film."
Joseph Johnson killed his friend, Danny Taylor on April 5th, after they got into an argument over a Call of Duty match on the Xbox 360. Taylor's girlfriend saw Johnson walk into the house and found her boyfriend shot dead, with the controller still in his hand.
"A new set of maps for Call of Duty: World at War (due in June) wasn’t the only major piece of news floating around recently pertaining to Activision’s famed FPS series. Rumor has it that Treyarch’s next contribution to the series may center on Vietnam, based on Activision’s supposed efforts in obtaining rights for Vietnam War-era music."
Remember the fuss we caused with that Bayonneta: God of War killer article? That was fun, wasn't it?
Guerilla Games' (Killzone 2) Managing Director Herman Hulst is on our side with this whole thing, introducing some democracy into the mix.
Basically, for those that still bother with this 'franchise X killer' nonsense, grow up, cause the people that make these games sure aren't doing it!
"So! Killzone 2 came out. And needless to say, it was awesome. And while under construction, the world wondered if it could live up to the standard Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare set. And I decided to post this because on last week’s Helcast, Jam BK brought up an awesome point! But first, this is not a comparison. It may look a hellova lot like one, but it’s not! The points I bring up are just what I found interesting between these two games. Let me explain
First, my situation. A few month..."
Who knew that celebrities were actually real people and not just a somebody making a name for themselves with fame and fortune while having their life splashed across the front pages every day?
Well if anyone knows the US TV sitcom, Friends, then you will certainly know Matthew Perry who played Chandler (the funny and sarcastic one) Recently he is in the media for appearing in the new movie "17 again" along side Zac Efron...the annoying kid from High School Musical 1,2 and 505 ¬_¬

In a surprise move, Infinity Ward has confirmed that the November-bound sequel to the hugely successful shooter, Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, will be no longer bear the Call Of Duty name.
In addition to opting for the pruned title of Modern Warfare 2, the fan-favourite developer announced that it continue the franchise as a spin-off to the Call Of Duty series.

In a surprise move, Activision and Infinity Ward announced that they have ditched efforts to produce a direct sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in order to take the highly popular first person shooter series in a totally different direction. Modern Warfare 2 was expected to be the biggest game of 2009. We'll see how this new direction effects the series.
"Tonight, Steven Spielberg claimed his third BAFTA mask, but this time it was not for a film but for his début as a games creator with his Boom Blox winning the BAFTA in the Casual category, outplaying Guitar Hero, LittleBigPlanet, Singstar Vol 2, Wii Fit and Buzz! Quiz TV."
"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in two words: virtual victory. Virtual victory at all costs despite all terror: The Churchillian imperative is in full force throughout Call of Duty: World at War, but playing, in addition to being just plain fun, is also an incredibly visceral experience, especially for Jewish players.
Over and above their ease of use, story and visual appeal, video games can also become important cultural experiences when the creators make the world psychologica..."

The gang here loves us some "Top Lists", but over the past few months they have gotten out of hand - how could we continue making top lists? After hours of grueling brainstorming with Street Fighter 4, Chris Plante, our wetnosed associate editor delivered brilliance: "What about the best hands in shooters!" Major Nelson has posted the Live Activity for this week, summing up what is being played online in the gaming world for Xbox 360. I am amazed that despite the release of World at War, this does not hinder the CoD4 community from taking down everything that isn't Halo 3. Real football (FIFA) manages to beat out American football (Madden), and surprisingly, people are still playing Grand Theft Auto.
"If we think about LittleBigPlanet, Age of Conan or Mirrors Edge, we notice they have two things in common: very successful and well received demo versions (or beta stages) and very poor, lower than anticipated game sales. And since these are not the only titles in which a demo (or the lack of it) appears to be connected with their commercial success, I believe we should analyze the influence demos have in the game world and debate: are game demos game killers?"
OXCGN writer David Hilton finds an interesting way to spend a holiday, one where reality and fun are very blurred indeed.

"The problem comes when you go back and look at your list of achievements and see that there are some that are worth 30, 50, 100 or 150 points. Those are the ones you want. You probably also make the assumption if you dont look at the list that some tasks would be worth a lot. For example, you would think, that completing 50 horde waves would be worth 100 points or at least 50. Its not easy to do, and you need to have four or five players that work together and stick through all the waves. ..."

Jason Michaels of collegehumor.com has made quite the comical article indeed. Editing the cover art for certain games, he chose ten games to murder with puns.
Some of them are pointing out rather funny truths, others are just plain rude!
"I don't think the chart needs to be explained, you have the games, you have how much space they would take on your hard drive, and then how much time you'd be saving (not listed on the chart is how much relief you will be giving your poor disc drive). No longer do 360 fanboys have the fodder of "oh you PS3 people have to install games blah blah" .. in the end, if you have a big enough hard drive, you know you'll be installing these games soon enough."

Are we going to hit a video game burst similar to the one during the Atari days before Nintendo saved the day!? A little discussion on the news about Brandon Crisp. James not only is allergic to coconut, but doesn't eat beef either, sad times. Allison doesn't know if she wants Rock Band or Guitar Hero.
Challenge James in a video game quiz where you can pick the category, and we'll give you a prize. Enjoy this weeks The Bender (or else!)
Consider this the most random post ever. Four charts here showing you: What the Prestige Icons mean. What every single gun does as far as damage, accuracy, how many bullets are used per second, how much damage is down on certain body parts, Explosives detailed, and even Perks. This is all extremely helpful for CoD4 players, and completely confusing for everybody else.
Some people predicted it, others wished it but either way it has happened. The boy who apparently ran away after being banned off his console for playing too much Call of Duty 4 has been found dead on the Fifth Line in the Barrie area. There are few details at this point, but police are convinced it is Brandon Crisp, it is mentioned he was found by hunters, but that is merely a rumor at this point.
Tired of seeing the same old War based video games ... well, then this is not the story for you, because this is the ultimate in War based video games, by churning them out every time you hit reload.
Remember that article I put up a couple days ago about a kid who ran away from home because his parents banned him from playing Call of Duty 4? Well Microsoft Canada heard about this and are now offering a $25,000 reward for finding the missing boy.
Notice: Please, don't all be assholes about this. Don't post comments like "he deserves it" or crap like that please. Thanks!
Here's one for the papers. Brandon Crisp, pictured, from Canada, is a big fan of Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. After excessively playing it, his parents decided to ground him from the game. There was an argument, he left home, and hasn't been seen since.
Sniper Rifles are something you love and hate at the same time. You love it when you own someone halfway across the map with a headshot, and you hate it when your on the...well receiving end. Sniper Rifle's have existed since the dawn of FPS's and beyond and this article examines the god like weapon. It's history, its ups and downs, and a list of some of the best of these beastly weapons every to grace a game are all present here.
It has been confirmed by Activision (or is it ActivisionBlizzard now?) that developers Infinity Ward will be returning to the franchise to help with Call of Duty 6 - they were last seen in Modern Warfare). No new news on any details about the game - but with Infinity Ward back on the team - one can only speculate.
In the past, box art was clean and simple, such as the Atari 2600's. Nowadays, we have these amazing designs for box covers, but what if the games we play today had the same covers of the Atari 2600? the-minusworld has created some, such as Halo 3 and No More Heroes.
There's more in the source for you to check out as well.

After Activision made a whole lot of money off of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare last year, they want even more (can't blame them money=win); so they will have more DLC in Call of Duty: World at War. They said that "The average Call of Duty player has spent nearly five full 24-hour days of their lives online since purchasing the game", which is a lot of time, so they want to reach out to the online players with much more DLC.

"Not content with consistently topping Xbox Live's most played list, Infinity Wards seems to want to snap Live in half this weekend, confirming half price DLC and double XP for Call of Duty 4.
It's slicing 400 points off the price of the Variety Map Pack, so you can grab it for just 400 points on September 12-14 only - it goes back up to 800 points next week. Get it if you haven't already...
And double XP, as previously confirmed, means rapid ranking-up in half the time."
GameInformer, the popular magazine about all things gaming that has somewhere near three million subscribers, always has a different game on the cover each time. MTV wanted to see if there was a GI cover curse, so they looked back into the past and pulled out magazines from 2-3 years ago.
One game titled Superman Returns didn't so well, receiving 6/10's. That's nothing compared to Fear and Respect, which was at one point on a GI cover, but ended up being canceled!

Another week has passed, which means it's time for some Australian game sales!
Mario Kart Wii has snatched the lead from the Wii Fit game, the Wii Play bundle is still selling steadily in third, followed by the oh-so-popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl and SingStar Amped.
Most of the games in the overall sales list are either the from the Wii or the DS. With all the success Nintendo has been having lately, I'm not surprised. To check out some console-specific sales, hit the source.

A new patch for CoD 4: Modern Warfare is now available, which will update the game to version 1.6. The download is 283mb and gives new server browser filters, as well as four new maps for multiplayer. The names of the maps are Creek, Chinatown, Broadcast, and Killhouse.
Infinity Ward Studios told Cnet that CoD4 has sold it's 10 millionth copy. The head of the studio, Vince Zampella, didn't know exactly which consoles sold more, but when you think of games selling over 10 million copies you usually think about the really big games -- like Grand Theft Auto or Halo. CoD 4 is one of "less than 10" games to hit 10 million copies sold since 2000--quite an accomplishment.
Many people felt left out when the Call of Duty 4 downloadable content was released only on the consoles, and the PC society were left with little to nothing. However that wont last long since it appears that the PC gamers will be getting the DLC finally, and not just that, it will be FREE.
It is expected that the latest DLC along with the version 1.6 update will be available from 5th June 2008.
The NPD Group recently released their tracked sales numbers for April 2008, for the four week tracking period that ends on May 3rd, 2008. Many thanks to sonycowboy at NeoGAF and the NPD Group for the numbers.
April saw the release of two major games: Grand Theft Auto IV, which shattered industry records, and Mario Kart Wii, the latest installment in Nintendo's Mario Kart franchise. You would think that there would be strong sales all around for the three current generation consoles, but ...
Infinity Ward have pulled back their version 1.6 Patch Release for Call of Duty 4 because they have found some bug's/technical issues during there testing process. They did not say much on what the problems may have been but they did state that one problem was that the kill cam broke when playing with mods, among other things.
In recent reports you may have read that Infinity Ward were possibly going to become the sole Call of Duty developers. Well Activision today have come out and rubbished these reports and said Treyarch are still going to be producing future Call of Duty games alternately whilst Infinity Ward make theres.
Thats right, the Call of Duty 4 Map Packs are finally going to arrive to the Playstation 3 on Thursday, 24th April for both the North American gamers and European gamers.
In addition to this there will be a Double XP Weekend for both gaming sectors lasting from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th and on top of this, The Infinity Ward team will be playing online on the Friday from 11am to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm (PDT) so look out for them.

There's no doubt that Call of Duty 4 would be big. Now we have another set of figures to show us just how big the game is worldwide. Just over one week since its release, the variety map pack has already been downloaded over one million times! Not only that, but in that same time span, over 32 million hours of gameplay was logged on XBOX Live for COD4 alone!
"Call of Duty 4 vs. Halo 3. According to our sister site, Next-Gen, these games aren't just this generation's most popular shooters. They're the two best-selling games of any genre and of any platform. How could we not pit them against each other?"
With the release of the Variety Map Pack coming out soon for the PS3, Infinity Ward's "Fourzerotwo" announced in his website that there will be a "Double XP Weekend" to coincide with the Map Pack, like the Xbox 360. This came with news that the Certification of the Map Pack went "amazingly well" at Sony, though an Official Date is yet to be announced
In celebration of the Xbox 360 launches of both Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year Edition and the Variety Map Pack, Infinity Ward will be holding a "LIVE Fire Weekend" from April 19. Expect fun, prizes and the chance to play with developers and celebrities alike.
There is one situation most of you will be familiar with, kids totally dominating older generations at videogames. I know because I've given the beat down on my dad in more than one shooting/fighting/racing game. But why is that? How can a adult with far better coordination, motor skills and intelligence fall to a 7 year old child? Well Brandon Erickson from GameCritics.com examines the issue
It's been a little while since the Variety map pack was released. But are people satisfied with it? Do they feel it wasn't worth their $10? Chris Wilcox at www.thatvideogameblog.com takes a good analytic look at the maps, looking at aspects such as what game modes suit those maps.
He also says that these maps won't do well as replacements for the standard maps.
Infinity Ward have revealed that they have given the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack DLC for the Playstation 3 to Sony and now it is up to them to certificate them for users in ready for a release. Though a release date has not been said they have claimed for it to appear at the same time as the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Game of the Year Edition comes available in stores which should be next week.
Remember this? Oops, they've done it again! After being at the top for some time, Sonic and Mario have once again reclaimed the spot.

To mark the Xbox 360 launches of both Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year Edition and the Variety Map Pack, Infinity Ward is offering gamers double the amount of experience points for every match they play on a new map this weekend over Xbox Live.
"The wait is almost over. The Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack (Xbox 360) will be available from the Xbox Live Marketplace at 9:30am EST today, Friday. Have to give credit to COD4 community manager Robert Bowling at iamfourzerotwo.com for keeping fans updated throughout the wait. Everyone has been confused on whether or not the Call of Duty 4 maps will be coming out this week or not. Rest assured, because Infinity Ward confirms that the maps will be coming out either tomorrow night or April 4th. More than likely they will be avaliable on Friday, but there's a possibility of them being avaliable tomorrow night.
When you purchase the Game of the Year edition, you can use your token as soon as the maps are released via Xbox Live.
The Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack, previously announced to be releasing April 3, has been pushed back to April 10 for unspecified reasons.
The PlayStation 3 version of the Map Pack will be distributed through the PlayStation Store at a similar price point 21 days after the Xbox 360 version is made available.
It is still not yet known when a PC compatible version of the downloadable content will be released.
Call of Duty 4's Variety Map Pack has gained timed exclusivity on the Xbox 360. The four multiplayer maps will remain exclusive to the Xbox Live Marketplace for 21 days, before being released on the PlayStation 3 and PC.

A "Game of the Year" re-release of Call of Duty 4 for Xbox 360 is set to retail next month, sporting shiny new packaging and a download code for the upcoming Variety Map Pack.
It is not yet known whether the PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the game will see a similar re-release.
After knocking Halo 3 off of its Xbox Live throne in January, Call of Duty 4 has gone on to break even more records, logging nearly 1.3 million online gamers daily on the Xbox 360 alone. Statistics for the PlayStation 3 and PC versions aren't as accurate, but it doesn't take much to imagine how high a combined figure would be.
After a pretty decent week in terms of releases last week, this week's releases aren't really too exciting, although some are still worth a look at.

GameSpot supplies Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare fans with a hands-on preview of two of the four multiplayer maps that will be made available as downloadable content this Spring.
The map pack will be sold at an as-yet-unspecified amount on both the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store. Whether or not PC gamers will have to pay for the new content is to be confirmed.
Frontlines, a mod for COD4 has been released. Among the new features are 3 new gametypes and something that is sure to please just about everyone, spawn killing protection. Spawn killing is something that irritates just about everyone so that will surely be a welcome addition to the game.
As seen in an earlier story, a feature patch was in development for the Xbox 360 version of COD4. Well now it's been confirmed that a similar patch for the PS3 and PC versions was being worked on as well. The PS3 patch has been at Sony for certification for about a week or so and the big info on the PC version is contained in the article.
With Activision and Blizzard's announced merge, the possibility of taking some of Activision's franchises into the MMORPG world becomes a possibility. It's been hinted that they're considering taking COD into that realm. Blizzard seem to hope that their existing MMO fanbase would take to the idea, while Activision help them break into the Xbox Live scene on the back of Call of Duty's popularity.

"The new feature patch that fourzerotwo talked about last week has finished the testing and development process, and has now been sent to Microsoft to undergo certification for release. It isnt far off now! The PS3 version of the patch is still being worked on. For full details on what is included in the new patch, go to the source."
Activision have confirmed that a new installment of the Call of Duty saga is under construction and believe that it may be ready in shop stores as early as April 2008 and at the latest of March 2009 though they have refused to put a pacific release date to it.
Activision also go onto say that the title should become available for the PC, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360.
Activision has announced that Call of Duty 5 is in the works for Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii and PS2. We could also be seeing two new Guitar Hero titles this year, along with another title for Tony Hawks and a new James Bond game set to accompany the new movie coming out in Autumn. A sequel for Marvel Ultimate Alliance and a new Spider Man game have also been mentioned, although there aren't many details for these games yet.
"Scheduled to be unleashed upon fans of 2007s award-winning shooter this coming spring, Activision says that downloadable multiplayer maps spread across a variety of intense multiplayer locales are currently in production for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
Weve demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content, explains Infinity Wards Co..."

If any of you have ever been with Tiscali (a UK Broadband provider), then you know that up until a year ago, their service was brilliant, and even I never had any complaints with them.... till as mentioned a year ago. Suddenly, I found myself unable to connect to online, games, and I even experienced A LOT of lag whilst browsing normally. It took a couple of months of suffering before I decided to do the right thing and switch, however many others have not taken the same initiative and have f...
"Activision has announced that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was the number one title in units worldwide for calendar 2007, this according to The NPD Group, Chart Track and The GFK Group.
Since its launch in November, the game has sold in excess of 7 million units worldwide.
Will Kassoy, senior vice president, global brand management, Activision: Were very excited about this achievement especially given so many competitive titles this year. Consumer and critics agree that Call of ..."
"Are the cracks beginning to appear in Bungies well-worn battle armour? Well, according to Xbox Live aficionado Major Nelson, Halo 3 has this week been deposed by Activisions impressive Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Based on weekly unique user figures, Call of Duty 4 has pushed Halo 3 into second on the Top Live Titles chart, with Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Gears of War, and Rock Band rounding out the top five."
"The games that in large part made this possible for the company are Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. According to the NPD Group, Call of Duty 4 and Guitar Hero III were the number one and three best-selling titles across all platforms."
The supercharged American holiday shopping season has passed us by, and the NPD results all show great increases. With their December 2007 report, the NPD Group has also released their Annual 2007 numbers also. As always, many thanks to the NPD Group and sonycowboy at NeoGAF for reporting and the actual numbers.
As far as I know, it is a standard four-week tracking week, from December 5 to January 1.

So, it's the week after the holiday season. You know what that means? Sales completely drop all around. Nothing really survived the post-holiday massacre other than this week's top selling game, by a clear long shot.
This week's top-selling game is Wii Fit, selling 90k copies. The #2 this week is every child's favorite game, Mario Party DS, selling 43k copies. Rounding out the top five are Wii Sports (WII - 33k), Final Fantasy IV (NDS - 32k), and Monster Hunter Portable 2nd (PSP - 26k...
"Yet more top-tier awards look set to be stuffed into the already-bulging BioShock trophy cabinet following news that the ambitious underwater masterpiece has been nominated for a staggering 12 gongs at the 11th annual Interactive Achievement Awards."
After a week's hiatus, we finally get Media Create's software rankings, along with hardware and software numbers for the week preceding New Year's Day. Contrary to the preceding week's Nintendo domination, games from a system not owned by Nintendo broke into the top ten. Hardware wise, it's still the same old, with the DS, PSP and Wii selling in the six figure range, while the PS3 ranges around 55k.
This week's top seller is the new Super Robot Taisen game, Super Robot Taisen OG Gaiden, ...
"The thought of playing Call of Duty on a Nintendo DS brings to mind something akin to watching the Transformers movie on that little screen in the back of the headrest in an airplane's economy class while listening on those crummy headphones. For a series best known for delivering a home theater-like sensory-immersing cinematic experience, even attempting a handheld port -- on the DS no less -- sounds like sheer folly. Apparently no one told developer n-Space, because not only did they attemp..."
Best games. These really depend on people's tastes. So, different sites have different lists. Here's what QuickJump (qj.net) has as the top games of 2007. Its an all around list that includes all current-gen platforms.
Whether they are awarding games on the high powered PS3, or the innovative and fast-selling DS, they have always looked at gameplay rather than graphics. Calling all Cars is a good example of this, winning an award for it's fun gameplay!
"Did you hear the news? Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare won Game of the Year on PS3 Fanboy. (Uncharted: Drake's Fortune won the reader's vote.) So, what did other major media outlets pick as their PS3 GOTY? We searched the web and found out.
GameDaily chose Call of Duty 4. "The campaign excels where most of its competition fails, delivering a nail-biting experience we couldn't walk away from until the explosive finale."
GameTrailers chose Call of Duty 4. "The authenticity on display here is t..."

A new update is on the way for Call of Duty 4. This was announced for the 360 version but is all but guaranteed to appear on PS3 as well. This patch implements a number of changes including new maps being added to rotation, new playlists which don't allow parties of clans and a new kill cam which allows you to see just who killed you, how and where they are. See the source article for the full list.
The November NPD numbers are out, and these are a doozy. Many thanks to the NPD Group and sonycowboy at NeoGAF for reporting and the actual numbers.

It's a matter of taking things too far in a game. It's a matter of making threats in a game. It's a matter of getting arrested for those comments, that were made, in a game.
If you're thinking that's wrong on the Police's part, then you're wrong. The gamer in question, who was a Frostburg State University student, was allegedly heard making threats on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the threats were about "Shooting up the school".

"Before getting into Maxims top-ten selection, it is worth bearing in mind that its expertise and coverage in the world of gaming is marginal when compared to the print space it reserves for scantily clad female celebrities. Indeed, while you probably wouldnt rely on FHM for movie reviews over the likes of Empire or Premiere, you shouldnt place too much stock in Maxim when it comes to gaming especially if its sitting next to Edge Magazine on the shelf."
GamingShogun responds to the Top Ten Video Games of 2007, recently compiled by TIME. They end up disagreeing with several parts of the list and offer up alternatives.
The Top 10 According to TIME:
* Halo 3
* The Orange Box (although that is technically MANY games)
* Rock Band
* Super Mario Galaxy
* BioShock
* Call of Duty 4
* Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
* Mass Effect
* Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation
* God of War 2
"Activision and Vivendi, has revealed that it will be making new games in franchises like Call of Duty and Guitar Hero "on an annual basis".
It's a move that sounds a lot like rival publishing behemoth EA's strategy of pumping out new versions of its core titles every year. EA has been criticised by some gamers for focusing on this model of publishing over high quality new games.
Speaking in a conference call today, Robert Kotick, chairman and CEO of Activision, said: "You can expect vir..."
Infinity Ward's relations manager Robert Bowling has announced that you should no longer face any problems now when playing online anymore. Such problems ranged from receiving an error message to any effect from the new firmware update.
He goes onto state that the problems occurred because of the Call Of Duty 4 Playstation 3 servers just could not keep up with the enlisting of new players online and possibly because of the firmware update that was included to the system recently.
"It's not easy to choose between two obvious Game of the Year candidates, but in reality, not everyone can afford to buy every game out there. So we pose the question: If you had to choose, would you buy Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare or Halo 3? We break each game down into nine categories to see who emerges victorious."
"It took awhile, but Infinity Ward finally got the message that World War II is played out. With modern times and international affairs becoming more and more, shall we say, interesting in recent years, the 1940s just don't carry as much weight as they used to. Perhaps that's why Call of Duty 4 has a new subtitle, Modern Warfare. By bringing things into a fictionalized story that still seems fairly plausible, the developer has made a much heavier game. But COD 4 is more than just an updated se..."
The first review from IGN for Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. This is the first Call Of Duty game that takes place in modern time and not World War 2, which is a great step up from the previous games. The game is getting great reviews from other websites and it looks like IGN is impressed a lot by the game in a whole. They are disappointed though by the length of the single player saying it is to short, but multi-player should keep you busy.
Final Score=9.4/10
As we continue on towards the holiday season, I'm inclined to believe that this notable games list will continue to grow into gigantic proportions.
Joystiq has Call of Duty 4 as the highlight, but honestly, you can't pin the total spotlight this week on a single game. Besides, one of the greatest games ever came out for the Virtual Console.
Notable games this week:
Alien Soldier (VC)
Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War (360, PS3)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (360, PS3, DS, PC)

UK based magazine OXM UK has already had a chance to play through the single player campaign. On Normal difficulty settings the staff at OXM were able to complete the game in roughly 5 to 6 hours. As disappointing as that sounds from what I played of the demo there is a decent to good amount of replay value. There will always be multiplayer playability as well once you're done with the campaign.
OXM listed off for the game:

A article that highlights the seven best games that will be released next month in November. I must say there is a high number of games being released excluding the seven named in this article. The seven best games are shown below:
7. Uncharted: Drakes Fortune
6. Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Swords
5. Mass Effect
4. Rock Band
3. Assassins Creed
2. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
1. Super Mario Galaxy
We saw the CoD 4 trailer, yes we all drooled over it. Well, the anticipation is over and PC users (haha, no 360 or PS3! go PC, nyaaaa :P~) get a chance to get their hands on the demo.
The demo can only be officially obtained via Yahoo (unless you can find a torrent). I can only assume that the Yahoo servers are just getting pounded like a wooden cottage under siege from mortar fire as thousands upon thousands of gamers try to download the demo. My download has barfed many times already and...

"Good news for me and the countless other people who went to charlieoscardelta.com only to have the site never load, even after dozens of tries. I had the site ready, and after I hit refresh at 2 PM (I am in Central Time), BAM! I couldnt connect to the site due to the server being too busy. I tried for about 40 minutes, having it load once, but then after clicking Enter Now I arrived at yet another connection error page. I quickly rushed over to the NeoGAF forums to make sure other people w..."
"Activision has confirmed that Australian gamers will also be treated to a beta of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The beta will take place over Xbox Live and will begin prior to the game's release on November 7."
"Beginning the 27th of August, the beta key s will be handed out. Head on over to CharlieOscarDelta to register and get your shot at one of the keys. The game is due to be released sometime around the end of the year."
The multiplayer beta for Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat will be available August 27, 2007; here is footage of what you can expect from the 'Crash Site' multiplayer map:
"The first level I played was on the ship and it was fast and furious. The controls are what you would expect from CoD 2 (easy to pick up), and this allows you to enjoy the game right away. I got a sick thrill from shooting the enemy while they slept and the action only intensified from there."
At last the tokens for the for the highly anticipated Call of Duty 4 beta will start being sent on Monday August 27th at noon PST. You may have a chance to sign up for the beta by going to charlieoscardelta.com, signing up and answering 3 trivia questions. Do keep in mind that only people from the US can join at the time. Other countries will get their chance in early September.
"Well the time has finally come. Today at 5pm EST the COD4 beta sign up details will be announced on CharlieOscarDelta. If you havent taken the time to regester you might want to head on over there and do so because, in order to apply for the beta you have to be registered to the site."
The Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer Beta is nearly here, and many sites are giving great reviews of it from the 'Call of Duty 4: First to Play' event. Will the Beta be loved or shunned? With tons of features, including the multiplayer 'Perks', it will be loved, says IGN.
This article definitely settles any speculation that the PS3 isn't able to hack it when compared to the 360. It just goes to show you that all it takes is a skilled developer like Infinity Ward to make things happen and it makes other developers look like hacks that say they can't get their PS3 version to run at 30fps. Yes, the 360 version will also run at 60fps with full AA.
"Activision has just released a fresh batch of screenshots for the fourth entry in the Call of Duty series, subtitled Modern Warfare - and they look jaw-droppingly gorgeous.
The title's plot is told from the perspectives of a British SAS operative, a Russian Spetsnaz commando, and American Force Recon Marines and Navy SEALs in the Middle East. They follow the evil intentions of Zakhaev, a Russian nationalist intent on re-claiming his homeland as a Soviet state. Obviously the UK and US do no..."
"The CoD4 beta will hit North America sometime this week and will be exclusive to the Microsoft Xbox 360. The Modern Warfare tester features three modes: Free-for-All, Team Deathmatch, and Team Tactical; and three maps: Overgrown (set in rural Russia, perfect for good cover), Vacant (a deserted Russian office building with intense corridor action) and Crash (a downed Sea Knight chopper in a desert down, perfect for team games)."
When the XBOX360's Basic Package was revealed, not many people minded that a Hard-Drive wasn't included, although it was only when the Core package was sold that most people baught the Basic Package. However it seems those that were 'unfortunate' enough to get the basic package and haven't gotten themselves a Hard-Drive may have problems making the most out of the new sequel for CoD - Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
People that want to play the Beta were warned that they would require quit...
The delay that has made many fans upset and angry, has also been a saviour for some game developers that no longer have GTAIV to compete with for christmas. Which will obviously mean that they will have more reason to release it before then, and will most likely be getting more notice from you than if GTAIV had released.
The games ofcourse are:
- Bioshock
- Army of Two
- Lair
- Haze
- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
- Assassin's Creed
- Heavenly Sword
So many great-looking titles coming to the PC, and so little time to decide which to spend your money on. IGN is here to help, as they show us their top ten list for PC gamers:

8. The Witcher
7. Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
6. Half-Life 2: Orange Box

"IGN Down Under cranked up an interview with Call of Duty 4 Military Advisor, Lieutenant Colonel Hank Keirsey (US ARMY, retired). Some pretty interesting stuff is included.
IGN AU: How close to reality is the game?
LTC retired Hank Keirsey: Extremely.
IGN AU: Obviously they exaggerate a lot of things to make it a better game experience though?
LTC retired Hank Keirsey: I would say it's much closer to reality than one would think. The sound of the weapons firing, the way the weapon..."
Game awards, just like reviews, are merely subjective opinions offered up by self-proclaimed 'experts'. Ultimately, retail sales figures make or break a game, putting the consumer firmly in place as the only 'real' gaming expert that needs to be listened to. That said, these awards gatherings are always good for inciting fanboy riots - if nothing else.
Roll on with Part-03 of GameTrailers.com's E3 Awards coverage.
IGN presents the first trailer of Call of Duty 4 for the Nintendo DS. The video does not reveal how the DS's touch screen will come into play but it does that the bottom screen will consist of a map of the area which could be used to control your characters movements over long distances.
You now have the chance to make a difference.. Well, maybe not but you can join the vote for what you think you cover of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare should be. There are currently 5 pre made covers and you get to vote for which one you think should be used, of course. You have to be a registered member to their official website for the game to vote.
G4TV has awarded the best game of E3 to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as well as the best Xbox 360 game. Dtoid staff had a little time to play the game last week and they say it sure does live up to it's hype, so let's hope that it impresses all gamers. Expect the game to release October 30th for people that live in the US and November 9th for people in Europe.
"According to Xboygen, Infinity Wards have dated the highly anticipated first person shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare arms gamers with an arsenal of advanced and powerful modern day firepower and transports them to the most treacherous hotspots around the globe to take on a rogue enemy group threatening the world.
The game has been scheduled to appear on October 30 here in the US followed with a November 9 in Europe."
Whether you put any stock into what the likes of GameTrailers, IGN, GameSpy, GameSpot at all have to say when it comes to who 'they' deem to be the winners and losers at E3, it's always worth trawling their opinions just so you can check out footage for all YOUR favorite games. Then you can leave 'em venomous feedback when the game YOU want isn't even nominated for an award.
Killzone 2 and Call of Duty 4, both fantastic games coming for the PS3. Which is better though? Killzone is a short franchise, but the game has been expected for a very long time and it sure wants to live up to it's hype. Call of Duty has more games and has been running for a long time, based on real events. Which will be better? You decide in this video comparison.
"Following a presentation at Microsoft's live press conference, Infinity Ward announced that Xbox 360 gamers will get to experience a Call of Duty 4 multiplayer beta before their PC and PlayStation 3 brethren.
