The other day, I had downloaded the demo for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. I'm presenting to you a video of gameplay with commentary with DualShocker Editor Jon Ireson and myself. Take a look at the video and get ready for one heck of a ride.

"Last weekend Ripten brought you brand new footage from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Then, in an excerpt from our interview with producer David Cox, we told you just how Hideo Kojima was involved with the title. Now, we’re telling you literally everything we’ve learned from our hands on time with the final build of the game and our full interview with Mr. Cox. Are there spoilers ahead? Yes. But only enough to whet your appetite for destruction."

Lords of Shadow plays great, has terrific visuals, and is a solid game, though it seems designed to be several (exciting) scenes strung together with nothing really screaming “Castlevania”. As an action-adventure 3D game, though, it is terrific. Our hands-on impressions from E3.

Matty from Defcon: Awesome gives you the rundown on his experience with the new Castlevania at E3 this year. Not surprisingly, this Hideo Kojima product is a 3d Castlevania that is actually worth playing. Unfortunately, though, the demo didn't show us enough to differentiate it from a very well made God of War 3 clone.

Castlevania's venture into the 3D world hasn't been a hugely successful one, but Konami is hoping to turn that around with Lords of Shadow. In a recent interview with OXM, producer David Cox discussed the apprehension the team felt when first considering a new 3D Castlevania, how the game will be different from previous installments, and what the team are doing to make this 3D Castlevania a memorable one for both new and old fans alike.
