"With Dreamcast titles like Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventures already available for download and Space Channel 5: Part 2 on the way, it appears Sega is serious about bringing some of their ill-fated console's most beloved titles to the digital marketplace."
"Years ago, when the Dreamcast ruled supreme in the gaming market (before Sega dumped it for third-party waters), it brought with it several great classics that live on to this day. Among them is Sonic Team’s Chu Chu Rocket, a ridiculously entertaining puzzle game where arrows are used to guide space mice towards their awaiting rockets, while avoiding pits of death or, worse yet, crazy-eyed cats. The puzzle game made its long-awaited return to iPad – and boy, was it worth it."
SEGA never gave a specific date for ChuChu Rocket! to be released for Apple devices, but anyone who has been checking the App Store regularly will have probably seen the game appear in the last couple of days. Also, SEGA is having a little Halloween sale on the App Store - with its games (apart from ChuChu) being discounted.
"No official release date has been specified however, but we are told it is coming out "late October" - and with only about 7 days left in October, it should be out very soon!"
Siliconera's Spencer has been keen enough to notice Sega has gone to great lengths in recent times to protect its franchises of old, trademarking ChuChu Rocket (just last week), Sonic Shuffle, Jet Grind Radio, Cosmic Smash (a truly unique gem), and Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram. Is Sega getting "back in the game" one step at a time? Kind of seems like it...
