The video game industry can be a ruthless one. Many developers have to make sure that every project they develope is the a success or they could falter. Check out the full story. Cheers!

"Many conservatives are vocalizing their hopes that the newly empowered Republicans tackle the issue of video game regulation. But perhaps they wouldn't be so quick to villainize gaming if they checked out these games and their underlying conservative messages."

Realtime Worlds, developers of APB and Crackdown, has now entered administration.

Edge has since confirmed that Realtime Worlds has indeed entered administration after receiving word from a representative for the company.

During a report which was given out this morning it confirmed that Realtime Worlds has made several staff redundancies.

The developer which confirmed this also admitted that he was expecting some redundancies within the developing studio.

"Realtime Worlds has proudly unveiled its latest office space with an open evening earlier this week. The 8,000 sqft premises in addition to its existing 26,000 sqft location allow the company to continue to grow towards a successful APB launch in early 2009, currently standing at 265 in Dundee, with that set to grow to in excess of 300 by the end of the year."

"Dundee-based Ruffian Games would much rather talk about Crackdown 2 than David Jones, but sadly it’s not that simple. The founding head of Realtime Worlds confessed this month to being “a bit miffed” at Microsoft’s choice of developer for the sequel: Ruffian isn’t just on his studio’s doorstep, but home to many of his former employees. From Redmond’s angle, though, surely that makes it the perfect choice, especially when so much of its workforce was instrumental in building the original. Afte..."

"In North America, despite the fore-mentioned flaws, the Xbox360 has a sizable lead over the PLAYSTATION3. It's nearly a 2-to-1 lead. It's no doubt this is due to the price facilitated toward a varying market of gaming consumers, and the superfluous marketing tactics Microsoft has employed to sell their latest console."

"Anyone who played the original game knows that it offered tons of possibilities that just weren’t explored very well. Here at Blend Games, though, we’re quite forgiving of new IP (except for maybe Too Human) and we’re always looking forward to sequels offering enhanced gameplay and better, more immersive features. So without further ado, here’s a compilation of the top five things to make Crackdown 2 not suck."

"To coincide with this week's WonderCon in San Francisco, the 1UP Editors decided to sit down and think about their favorite superhero videogames. This isn't to say that every game here is "great"; it's the memories that each of these games leaves with each of us, as well as how they truly made us feel super at some point, that makes these titles more like Batman and less like Batmanuel in our minds. Sound off in the comments below for what some of your favorite superhero games are."

"Ruffian Games today announced a significant boost to their creative capabilities with the appointment of industry veterans Steve Iannetta and Ed Campbell as Lead Designer and Senior Designer respectively.

Steve joined VIS Entertainment in 1996 and has since worked with Red Lemon Studios, Realtime Worlds and Midway Newcastle. He entered the industry as a graphic artist before moving into design and has held a number of senior roles including Senior Mission Design on Microsoft’s Crackdown an..."

Russ Frushtick and Chris Plante delivers a debateable list of the games that offer infinite replay - the most value for your gaming dollar. Personally, I feel there are some glaring omissions including grind-heavy and replay friendly titles like Disgaea 3, Pixeljunk's Eden and Monsters, SPORE, NEVERWINTER NIGHTS 2 (because of the ugc adventure packs) *stern look thrown Plante's way* and Way of the Samurai 3 (though I'm the only one in the office with the import and can hiragana/katakana and s...

Ruffian Games is a new game developer that has recently formed, combining members of Realtime Worlds (Developer of the first Crackdown) and Xen Group, who helped make the first game as well. There have been tons of rumored reports flying about that this group is in the early stages of developing a sequel.

With several hints toward a Crackdown 2 from the GI magazine and a Microsoft exec, this could have a real possibility of being true.

"If there’s one thing that videogames do well – perhaps more so than any form of digital entertainment around – it’s immersion. The ability to suck in an individual not just through giving them complete control over their actions, but more pertinently, through the surroundings and awe-inspiring sights developers painstakingly carve and sculpt. It’s debatable that this sense of captivation has only progressed, with more talented designers getting more out of increasingly powerful consoles. And ..."

GameInformer, the popular magazine about all things gaming that has somewhere near three million subscribers, always has a different game on the cover each time. MTV wanted to see if there was a GI cover curse, so they looked back into the past and pulled out magazines from 2-3 years ago.

One game titled Superman Returns didn't so well, receiving 6/10's. That's nothing compared to Fear and Respect, which was at one point on a GI cover, but ended up being canceled!

All in all, the game...

Speaking to blog VideoGaming247, developer Realtime Worlds' studio boss Colin Macdonald offered up the possibility of a sequel to the sandbox 360 title Crackdown saying that the door has not closed. It was a decision that they regretted, not working on a sequel and instead moving on to the upcoming APB.

A sequel to the best game on the 360? Make it happen, Realtime.

Developer Realtime Worlds has (according to a credible source) bought back the license for the urban MMO All Points Bulletin game from publisher Webzen with the possible idea of selling it back to Rockstar as Grand Theft Auto: Online. RealTime would only say they resecured the rights to "give themselves some options." Many guess that these options would be either to: A: develop the license themselves; or B: sell a framework for a GTA MMO to Rockstar.

You might have seen a similar auction like this for the Nintendo Wii. Now you can get an Xbox 360 with a Halo 3 design on it, autographed by all of the people at Bungie to help raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. The 360 is also sold with a Crackdown, but it is going for well over $1000. There is still over a week left, so we'll see how high this console sells for.
