Microsoft today revealed that seven new games will be joining the Platinum Collection lineup, the equivalent to Platinum Hits from North America, in Japan.

"Microsoft and Ruffian Games have announced the first two DLC packs for their sandbox action game, Crackdown 2, including the free "Toy Box" game add-on. No release date has been announced yet for the DLC but the details are below."

During a report which was given out this morning it confirmed that Realtime Worlds has made several staff redundancies.

The developer which confirmed this also admitted that he was expecting some redundancies within the developing studio.

"Crackdown 2 continues to dominate the charts in the UK which we're sure is music to the ears of Xbox 360 fanboys who live across the pond. Ubisoft also continues to surprise analysts with the most recent entry in the dance series - Dance on Broadway - taking the second spot in this last week's Top 20 sales charts for the united Kingdom."

"A Happy 4th of July holiday means not a whole lot in the way of game releases. As a result, we don't even have a handful of new games this week but we do get plenty of explosions between the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 "Resurgence Pack" and Crackdown 2. There is also Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 for PSP RPG lovers."

"We wouldn't have thought that there would be a connection between Crackdown 2 and the Xbox LIVE Arcade version of Xbox LIVE Arcade but there is. Ruffian Games and Rare have teamed up to place an unlockable character in Perfect Dark for those that have Crackdown 2."

The Entertainment Software Rating Board has released a summary for the Mature rating of the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive fame, Crackdown 2, which is slated for a June release.

"“In Crackdown, the amount of memory that it was going to take for it to do all the actual animation, the texture sets and the models for the females — we would’ve needed to massively reduce other sections of the game,” said Billy Thomson, Ruffian Games’ creative director. “So rather than do two separate models, we cut it back and gave the player as much customization as we could on the male character and that allowed us to use that extra memory to do other things in the game.”"

Crackdown 2 finally given a release date of July 9. Pretty sure it doesn't come with a Halo beta this time but it doesn't need to as the original showed it could stand on its own. Will be interesting to see if Ruffian can successfully expand on the original.

"Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft's Director of Product Management, was on hand during the latest taping of the Major Nelson podcast and he has confirmed that a few very anticipated titles from Microsoft will be released in the first half of 2010."

Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, David Jones, CEO of Crackdown and APB developer Realtime Worlds, admitted to be a bit upset when Microsoft had chosen startup developer Ruffian Games to create Crackdown 2.

A few months before the release of the original Crackdown, Realtime Worlds had been ready to work on the game's sequel, but ultimately had to begin working on APB after Microsoft dragged its feet in greenlighting the game.
