IGN's Michael Thomsen lists this year in terms of in game sex. Thomsen explains how sex in video games can be right and can be wrong in many ways. Thomsen also lists a few games which featured sex this year, this list consists of a few bloackbusters like Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redepmtion, Fallout: New Vegas and some not so well known games like Dinner Date and Every Day the Same Dream.

In a recent earnings conference call, Electronic Arts revealed the sales results for Army of Two: The 40th Day, Dante’s Inferno and Mass Effect 2 during the last quarter.
"Lately we have seen a renaissance of gaming tie-ins. Tie-ins can include movies, comic books, novels, and even television series. Big publishers like wringing every cent they can from a popular IP, and thankfully this will often bring fans some extra material about the universes that we've fallen in love with. They aren't always done well, but I would argue that there is an increasing movement towards hiring quality writers and artists for these projects, and it has made for some fantastic ti..."
The EA Dante Team has released a second walkthrough detailing the Trials of St. Lucia DLC pack for Dante's Inferno. Among the many new features being implemented in the DLC pack is a combat editor where you can setup custom challenges.
"Dante’s Inferno may have borrowed more than liberally from a few other video games on the market, but you can’t deny that the title did a fine job of crafting a detailed and spectacularly imagined world loosely based on the writings of Dante Alighieri. The game was a fast-paced and shockingly brutal action title from the creators of the well-revered Dead Space, and one that seldom failed to deliver in raw intensity. Now the crew at Visceral Games is getting ready to unleash a whole new chapte..."
Electronic Arts has released the fact sheet for the upcoming Trials of St. Lucia DLC for Dante’s Inferno, detailing the new playable character, online co-operative mode and more.
"Already established as one of the UK’s leading entertainment events, Memorabilia is adding another string to its bow by expanding the videogames’ presence at this month’s show. A trio of major games publishers will be making the trip to the NEC Birmingham for the Spring Memorabilia Show on 27th-28th March 2010, adding the chance to play the hottest new videogames to the show’s ever-growing list of attractions."
Books into games often go really well, it's when they are movies into games that I get a little worried . .but it seems Dante's Inferno is a slice above the rest. No pun intended, but you v=can take it if you like, just don't loose your head over it.
Come check out the review, and by all accounts it sounds impressive, and the collectors edition of it isn't half bad either. The art is just spectacular, it's something I'd be getting - once I get all the other games of course.
When will ...
Amazon has started the Playstation 3 Gold Box Event by offering Dante's Inferno Divine Edition as the “Deal of the Day” in addition to providing some hints to the Lightning Deals happening throughout the rest of Monday.
"February was an incredibly busy month for video games, considering it’s only the beginning of the year. This episode, the guys from GamesCastLive chat about Mass Effect 2, Dante’s Inferno, Heavy Rain, MAG, MX vs ATV: Reflex and Aliens vs Predator. Find out what they had to say about these titles, as well as look forward to what March has to offer."
This is a video based guide which takes you through each level individually. The guide also shows you how to take on and defeat all the baddies and bosses standing in our way and showing you how to get all the Relics, Shades, and Pieces of Silver in the game.
"So far the reaction to Dante’s Inferno from both gamers and critics seems to be the very definition of polarized. Some love how the game adapted the classic poem by Dante Alighieri while others really didn’t dig the thematic choices it made along with the gameplay which is like a scaled back version of God of War.
But the one thing that everyone agrees that the game did an excellent job with was the voice acting. Featuring a relatively small cast of characters, at least by today’s standar..."

Today our angst-ridden Yahtzee has a go at the hellacious Dante's Inferno, the latest title from Visceral Games.
Right, we all know what this about, then. Hit the source.
"With Dante's Inferno behind them, the next question is "What is Visceral Games working on for the future?". Sure there's Dead Space 2 and of course the rumors of "The Ripper" being in development at Redwood Shores, but is there anything else coming down the gaming pipeline from Visceral?"
Xbox Evolved's review of Dante's inferno. They give the game a 7.7 out of a 10 saying that although many other sites may have bashed it and the general sense that the game is bad is floating - the game is actually pretty good.
""We've been intrigued about Dante's Inferno. This is my favourite genre, and the more people that are making [these games] the better," Asmussen told the UK Official PlayStation magazine.
"And this is a really rich story they're building on, it's very interesting. The day that the demo came out we were trying to download it on PSN at midnight. We all wanted to see it," he added."
"When Electronic Arts announced their plans to produce a video game based on the literary classic Dante's Inferno, gamers were outraged by more than just the title's uncanny resemblance to the God of War franchise. Question the literacy of those who indulge in our hobby all you want, but the generally negative reactions that greeted the interactive adaptation of Dante Alighieri's epic poem speak well for our kind's classical training. To the credit of these dissenters, Visceral Games really d..."
"While I'm still waiting for my copy of Dante's Inferno, I have been checking out the review sites, Achievement guides and message boards in preparation for the arrival of the game. One question that keeps being asked over and over again, between many different boards, is "How is EA not being sued over this game?" While the overwhelming majority of these posts reference God of War, I have even seen mention of a "license" to Inferno (as a part of the Divine Comedy). Before I begin, I know many ..."
When breast physics are included in a game, they are usually over-the-top, weirdly twitchy or downright hilarious.
If reviews are anything to go by, Dante's Inferno won't be the God of War killer it was hyped up to be, but at least the devs know how a woman's boobs are suposed to look :D
Story Spoilers and NSFW:
Since the release of Dante's Inferno, the developers Viceral Games gives you a taste on what to expect in each circle of hell. Here is the final circle, where they don't take the expression "when Hell freezes over" lightley.
Why on earth would you want to travel through hell, you ask? Because it boasts impressive graphics, creepy creatures, and a whole lot of gore. That, and there's an abundance of topless women. Here are 6.66 reasons that you should play EA's new game.
"Valentines Day is just around the corner and as intoxicating aerial aromas go, love is in the air. Some of gaming’s favourite characters have had their own share of love in recent years and it’s time to take a look back at some of the greatest relationships, flirting and canoodeling that brought a tear to our eyes, or made us sick to our stomachs."
Astoundingly short and already in flames by most critics, Dante's Inferno is actually a hell of a ride and deserves at least some credit to it's pure, adrenaline packed 8 hours.
"All in all, Dante’s Inferno is a pretty good game. The core gameplay is straight from an industry classic, and the replay value is good. Though derivative, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The game looks, plays, and sounds very well. There is some repetition, a few aggravating puzzles, and though many were satisfying, some boss fights were a little stale. All things considered, I would recommend this game to anyone that calls themselves a fan of action games, and hope a sequel isn’t too fa..."
Though Dante's Inferno is doing well critically and with the community, X-Play's Adam Sessler has a different opinion.
In this latest soapbox, he illustrates why the game is a clone gone bad. Hit the source for the video.

Icrontic's articulate CB Droege brings us this week's interesting new releases in gaming. Featured this week are Bioshock 2, The Daring Game for Girls, Dante's Inferno, and Blaster Master Overdrive
While having lunch today at EA's HQ, we had the pleasure of partaking in a special game launch lunch. We're talking about a hellish meal gussied up with Dante's Inferno trappings.
"Dante’s Inferno has vision, but lacks scope and that makes it an average experience. That it departs significantly from the book is excusable; that it merely mimics God of War, to some extent, is on par with a lot of titles jumping on that bandwagon. This is a game that could have been more, but it settles for average."
"In true Electronic Arts fashion, we already have a release schedule set for Dante's Inferno DLC. We're sure that even though the game is still warm from the disc pressing and just shipping, that EA just couldn't fit the DLC on the disc. Maybe that's a complete lie and EA is just ready to nickel and dime you?"
Highlighting the extreme amount of "gore" and shock factor thrown into EA's game, the review initially criticizes the themes and visuals, but goes on to commend the solid mechanics and gameplay in the game.
Famitsu recently reviewed three big upcoming titled - Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, MAG and Dante's Inferno... and they enjoyed all of them, giving them all scores in the 30s (out of 40).
"Dante’s Inferno has taken a bit of flak from the gaming community for borrowing a lot (and I do mean a lot) of gameplay elements from God of War. But when it’s all said and done, Dante’s Inferno is a fun experience. The journey through Hell is one worth taking. It doesn’t last a terribly long time and has some lackluster moments, but the majority of the game is a blast to fight through."
"He also downplays God of War questions, claiming many titles influenced the game from the early stages. "The thing that was important was to build a really great and responsive combat system. It's a video game at the end of the day, and we wanted to make sure the combat felt great."
It was important for the system to be responsive, to flow from move to move with plenty of cancelling so you were never locked into long attack animations. "When you do something with the controller, the hero ..."
Yet another disappointing review for Dante's Inferno, a game that IGN slams as the biggest game copy ever...and you guessed it, a copy of the God of War franchise. This is undeniably true it has to be said, but in my view you have to look at the credentials of the game. Game Trailers do to an extent. The video review is thorough and has excellent visuals.
"Games are usually based or inspired after movies, books and historical events. However, it’s not common that you’ll find a game based on a poem. Enter Dante’s Inferno, EA’s hack-and-slash action title that follows the words and journey of Dante Alighieri, a 14th century poet, who describes his journey through the nine circles of Hell. But can this Crusader join the ranks of hack-and-slash legends, or will this journey be, well, hell."

How faithful are mythology-based games? Dante's Inferno has raided a few eyebrows over its rather loose interpretation of the work it's based on, but there are many other games that have taken inspiration from mythology and religion too. Gamesradar takes a look at a handful of recent games and how faithful they are to the religion and mythology they are based off...
"BioShock was one of the biggest surprises of 2007 and after a four-month delay, 2K Games is finally ready to retrun to Rapture with BioShock 2 this week. The PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sequel comes from a new developer (2K Marin), but gives gamers the chance to play as the series' iconic Big Daddy."
""Dante Alighieri wrote the greatest work of literature of all time. He was also a wimp. Not just any wimp: a creepy wimp. In Dante’s Inferno, the game loosely based on the first third of The Divine Comedy, Dante is a built cut of man-meat willing to do anything to retrieve his beloved Beatrice, who has been spirited away to Hell. In real life, Dante did love a woman named Beatrice, but he did it from a distance.""

All Age Gaming's John Elliott takes a look at EA's Dante's Inferno. Dante's Inferno is the hack 'n' slash game that has many similarities to the PS3 exclusive God Of War series. Did developer Visceral Games create a game that will rival the next instalment in the God Of War series? Find out after the jump.
"When planning a videogame, classical literature isn't the first source material that comes to mind. For centuries, the Western concept of the afterlife has been framed by Dante's The Divine Comedy, which terrified and enraptured people with its journey through the lands of the dead. After all, wandering through bleak environments and simply talking to suffering people doesn't sound like engaging videogame material. Then Visceral Games and Electronic Arts came along, adding an action premise a..."
"Go to Hell - Literally; that is the tagline for this feature review, just keep that in mind as you travel with me through one of the most mature-themed video games coming to market. The first movement of the epic poem The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri relates the story of Dante himself descending into Hell for a guided tour. And though his work is regarded as one of the most important literary masterpieces of all time, it is one twisted piece of work. In his descriptions he holds nothing b..."
"Here is the Super Bowl commercial to Dante's Inferno now dubbed (after the rejected "Go to Hell" slogan from CBS) "Hell Awaits". This trailer offers a hint at Dante's epic struggle to rescue his beloved Beatrice from the Dante's grasp, and illustrates his descent into the nine circles of hell, battling Satan's minions and hoards of Hell's demons."
Yes you heard right! Leaked videos found on Youtube from owners who have gotten the game early posted video that on the disc you can access the trailer for the upcoming DLC titled "Trials of St. Lucia". On this DLC you can apparently create your own custom trials, and where you can play co-op online as either Dante or St. Lucia. The DLC is said to be released April 29. Check out the source for all the information.
It looks like CBS wasn't too happy with EA's Dante's Inferno Super Bowl commercial. The expensive one-minute-and-42-seconds long ad was rejected, not for its depiction of Hell and violent imagery, but for telling the viewers to "Go to Hell" at the end of the commercial.
CBS asked the publishers to change the words to "Hell awaits".

"A chat with a couple of the designers behind Visceral Games' (Dead Space) upcoming literature adaptation Dante's Inferno revealed much about the game. Tthe decisions behind it, difficulties in making it, and the naysayers slamming the commercialization of such a precious work -- it's all here. Lead level designer Mike Cheng and lead combat designer Vincent Napoli were the folks on board for the Q&A session. Interestingly, Napoli spoke very little, quite possibly a testament to the game's focu..."

"Let me put this bluntly: Slamming X a bunch of times to do something mundane like open a door is not fun. It's never been fun. I'm not sure how or why developers came up with the notion that it'd be a good idea to make players sweat to accomplish seemingly simple tasks, but it's a horrible practice that should die as soon as possible.
That's not to say that there's no room for portraying "effort" in a game. There's a value in it, as it allows players to share a moment with their avatar, as..."
""Wayne Barlowe is the artist behind EA’s forthcoming Dante’s Inferno. From books to paintings to television and film, Barlowe’s artistic exploits are widespread.""
"Reading is fun, it has the ability to take you to a place of imagination and make-believe that few other forms of entertainment can accomplish. For a long time now Hollywood has been taking the latest New York Times bestseller and recreating it as a film, usually ruining the original author's work in the process. However it is very rare to see a video game developer/publisher take the time/money to re-imagine a novel into our industry's favorite past time. Maybe it's the subject matter but Vi..."
"The new edition features an introduction written by Dante’s Inferno Executive Producer, Jonathan Knight, who offers insight into the process of adapting the dark masterpiece into the interactive medium. The book also features a sixteen-page, full-colour art insert showcasing the evolution of characters and environments from the classic poem to the videogame."

"Something out of the ordinary is happening in 2010 – for the first time in some years publishers are taking a chance and packing quarter one with tons of high-profile video game releases. For RPG fans there is Final Fantasy XIII and Mass Effect 2, action gamers get Darksiders and Army of Two: The 40th Day, and adventure fans get their choice between Bayonetta and Dante’s Inferno (PS3 owners also can throw down in God of War III). These are only a few of the big budget titles that will be rele..."

EA have released a...uh...lovely Christmas trailer for the upcoming Dante's Inferno, full of gratuitous gore and nudity. What everybody wants at Christmas time, right? :D
Maybe I'm alone in thinking this, but Playboy sure does have a habit of showing some rather unappealing naked game character pictures. These two pictures (featuing Beatrice from Dante's Inferno and Madison from Heavy Rain) are from their upcoming January issue and, well, they aren't very sexy.
"You’ve probably heard of Dante’s Inferno. Part of the epic trilogy The Divine Comedy and written by a dead guy, I’ve been told by Wikipedia that it’s heavily allegorical, which means that it’s already worth more than anything you’re likely to achieve in life. So give up now and resign yourself to reading my epic impressions of the Dante’s Inferno videogame demo released on the PlayStation Network on this day, the 10th of December, the year of our Lord 2009."
"I'd like to cordially invite you into Hell. Yes, the fiery pit of despair that it's said you'll be banished to if you commit enough sins in your meager mortal lifetime. Throw away your inhibitions and ready yourself to witness copious amounts of filth, despair, desolation, and self-loathing. Really, you'll be glad you did. There's nothing to fear, especially if you're on a mission to reclaim your lover's soul from the likes of Lucifer while wielding the scythe of Death himself. So walk with m..."
"Christmas will have come and gone in January, but doesn’t mean you can stop spending money! The Spawn Kill cast minus a couple of us — that’s Molotov Cupcake, Tigresa, K-Tuck, The Herp, and Snarkasaur — discusses the cornucopia of games being released Q1 of 2010 and various subjects that coincide with the games coming out as well as our subsequently drained bank accounts. Also on the agenda as usual is what we’ve been playing as well as a couple short news snippets."
"Visceral Games, an Electronics Arts studio has today announced that Dante's Inferno is going to be boosted with a “Divine Edition” pack for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system owners solely. In fact, together with the game, all those who purchase Dante's Inferno on the PlayStation 3 will receive this special edition which includes..."
The Kartel plays through the new Dante's Inferno demo. According to their impressions, the game is shockingly similar to God of War. While the two are totally different in hero and plot, both games are dramatically executed with action-packed brilliance, totally immersing players in each of their respective worlds.
Some nice information for people who are planning on getting Dante's Inferno. EA have announced that the PS3 owners have the choice to buy the special "divine" edition, which is not available on other consoles. The Divine Edition will come with a complete Longfellow text of Dante Aligheri's Inferno, Digital artbook, developer videoes, and a digital copy of the soundtrack.
"Visceral Games, an Electronics Arts Inc. studio today announced that a Dante’s Inferno downloadable demo for PlayStation 3 is available for free on the PlayStation Network today. The demo allows fans to get a preview of Dante’s journey through hell. The demo will also be available on Xbox LIVE on Thursday, December 24th, 2009."
If you have seen any trailers for Dante's Inferno then you would know the games catch phrase is 'Go To Hell'. Now you can tell your friends and relatives to 'Go To Hell' with this new app. The app is free to download for the iPhone through the app store, facebook and for other users through gotohell.dantesinferno.com.
Usually dev's give out figurines of the protagonist in special editions of the game, but Visceral Games are feeling a little generous. If you preorder the game at gamestop you will be able to get this pretty awesome figurine of Dante. Hey, its free so why not get it.
"In the demo, players will have to defeat Death in order to win his scythe and holy cross before ripping open the gates of Hell. The taster also includes two short movies created by the Blur digital animation studio.
"Our main goal from the start of this project has been to create a journey that will make gamers truly feel like they are going through hell," said the game's executive producer Jonathan Knight.
"The demo will give everyone some insight into how we are treating the story an..."
"Dante’s Inferno makes good use of a ‘combo’ system for those who wish to make this a button masher on the level of a Devil May Cry game, despite this is more of a slower paced, God of War type game. So it is cool you have that option on what pace you want to play. What Dante’s doesn’t share with the aforementioned games, is that the main character is slightly uninteresting.
Enemies and puzzles are all handled well, and I don’t think a lack of connection to the main character will be a huge..."
We've all heard about EA's unique marketing strategy for Dante's Inferno, but this one really takes it to the extreme. It all began with a box addressed to Yahtzee from EA. Inside it were a set of goggles, a small ball peen hammer, and a little recording of the infamous song- "Never gonna give you up...". Yahtzee proceeded to smash the box to bits, trying to stop the song, and he found a simple note from EA. Certainly a clever and amusing move for publicity, but could this also be EA's little...

Hell is not a pretty place, at all. Its completely silly for people not to expect really gruesome and obscene things. After all it is hell. Well no matter how horrible hell is, it still has to be censored, for some regions. Sadly Dante's Inferno has to be "softened up" to those areas. No word on which regions they will be, but we can all assume which ones they will be.
"It doesn't sound like the most obvious candidate for a videogame adaptation but Visceral Games is on to something with Dante's Inferno. Even though Alighieri's celebrated poem doesn't quite match up with what Visceral Games is working on, its inspiration is more than apparent. Dante returns home to find that his love Beatrice has been murdered. Arriving in time to witness Death drag his slain lover into Hell, Dante chases Death, steals his scythe, and begins his journey to free her soul—inten..."
Not sure what is in the water devs have been drinking recently.
Following the leak of the "Fairytale Fights" kill children achievement over the summer, the team behind Dante's Inferno must have decided they wanted to one up Fairytale Fights by taking child killing achievements to the next level.
Do you think EA is going too far trying to top God of War with Dante's Inferno considering the 'naughty bits', "baby killing achievements, a menu containing FMV of a topless woman, BBQed monster...
"Now with the release of the game a few months away it looks like the film is starting to make some headway. Visceral Games has announced that Academy Award nominee Will Rokos will be writing the script for the film. Obviously most of you have no clue who the hell Will Rokos is but his Academy Award nom was for writing the drama “Monsters Ball” which as we know was the film Halle Berry won her Oscar for."
Its no surprise that Dante's Inferno look a lot like God Of War, so many people started saying to compare the two games, some have gone out to call it a ripp-off. Jonathan Knight has spoken up about this and said that its actually a compliment to be compared to such a great game. He praises God Of War and thinks its good that his game can be just like it. Well, you weren't expecting that.
"EA offered hands-on with its second circle of its interactive Hell in Japan on Wednesday, allowing me to try the Lust level of 2010's Dante's Inferno. It was more disgusting than it was sexy, I hope we can all agree.
Beware: Lots of words for body parts are used in this post.
As it has slowly revealed the parts of its least subtle action game, EA had revealed different sinful circles of its Hell in different regions. We've previewed some. There was no hidden meaning in introducing Lust ..."
Dante isn't a saint. He is, quite frankly a sinner. He has committed all 7 deadly sins. And when Dante reaches the fourth circle, redemption and guilt begin to set in. Greed is going to be full of traps, puzzles and to be more mechanic then natural (because hell is all natural). Check out the video after the jump.
"In Dante's Inferno, players will assume the role of Dante as he travels on an epic descent through Dante Alighieri's nine circles of Hell - limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. Dante's journey is driven by his desire to reclaim the soul of his beloved Beatrice after she is dragged through the gates of hell by Lucifer. This new story is the wrapper to a smooth, fast-paced action adventure game that delivers a deep, fully customizable combat system with ho..."
Seems Dante's Inferno is coming along nicely. The game will be out February 9 in North America and February 12 in Europe. Until then, we've got this Gamescom trailer down here, that names all the levels of Hell, with a silhouette of Satan at the end.
The Devil's got a nice voice, as we learned from previous videos.
"Eurogamer has announced that twelve of the games industry's biggest publishers have signed up for this year’s Eurogamer Expo. Sony, Microsoft, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft will all bring playable games to the event, along with Eidos, SEGA, Capcom, Konami, 2K Games, Bethesda, Namco Bandai and Deep Silver."
"At its GamesCom 2009 press conference moments ago, Electronic Arts announced that Dante's Inferno will be released on February 9, 2010. The PlayStation 3, Xbox and PC game adapts Dante Alighieri's epic-poem The Divine Comedy into an ass-kicking action game, although, it leaves out the endless chapters about how awesome heaven is and how boring purgatory is."
Visceral Games have made it there duty to make gluttony has disgusting of a place as possible. Hell I think its more disgusting then scary for a place in hell. Instead of walking on mud, it will be feces. Instead of rock walls, it will be intestine walls. And instead of fast slim agile enemies, there fat rotten demons that look like they popped out of the movie Se7en.
Check out the trailer after the jump.
Remember EA's brilliant idea to reward lustful behavior at Comic-Con? As a reminder, they were holding a contest for who could perform the most (legally) depraved act on a booth babe, in exchange for a chaperoned all-expenses paid evening with her. The contest had some questionable wording:
quoteWell, after a whole lot of controversy over bad word choices, Electronic Arts has released an apology for their idiocy... on ..."...a night with the hottest girl at Comic Con, dinner, booty and more."
"Written by Dante Alighieri in the early 1300's, Dante's Inferno is the first part of The Divine Comedy - an epic poem largely considered one of history's greatest literary masterpieces. The story as a whole follows Dante's journey through the Christian afterlife and is widely credited with creating the modern day perception of Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. Dante's Inferno itself focuses solely on Dante's journey through hell."
"At Comic Con, if you commit "an act of lust" with an EA booth babe and take a picture, you could win dinner with said babes, as well as a great big pile of prizes related to the upcoming Dante's Inferno. That's right, the babes won't just get the standard behavior and awkward advances—if someone is really obnoxious, they get rewarded for it, and then you get to see them again socially!
Technically you're only supposed to take a picture to be entered, but I can't even start to imagine how p..."
"However more recent press releases for the game have mentioned an Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP ports of the game but no mentions of a PC port. Big Download decided to get the final word on this situation and contacted EA's PR head for the game. Their response? "When Dante's Inferno was originally announced in December, we attached no platforms to the project. When we came out with a first look for press in February we announced 360/PS3 and then in April we announced PSP. We never announced a PC SKU ..."
"Visceral Games‘, Dante’s Inferno is a dark descent into hell. The entire concept is very reminiscent of God of War and there has been no end to the comparisons of the two games. One big difference was God of War III was playable at E3. Dante was only playable behind closed doors. This week, Dante has his first public gameplay demonstrations."
Last week we all found out that E3's Christian protest against Dante's Inferno was a publicity stunt on EA's behalf. Whether or not it was successful viral marketing is up for debate, but the news of the fake protest certainly didn't impress some religious sites...
A lot of us aren't really sure how to take Dante's Inferno, and many gamers have dismissed it as EA's God of War knockoff.
True, the game does draw heavy inspiration from a famous piece of literature, like GoW does with Greek mythology (okay, so that's LOOSE inspiration), but a closed demo with Visceral Games shines new light on Dante's Inferno, renewing our interests.
The game looks... well, hard to describe Hell as "beautiful," but a lot of work went into the overall design of this g...
"Now that the dust has settled from the best E3 in years, we can take a moment to process the years’ worth of upcoming-release insanity that we took in over four days – and that means making early, snap judgments based on what we’ve seen and played. One of the biggest and best presents for PS3 fans this year was a playable demo of the long-awaited God of War III, and it was joined on the show floor by a few games that clearly took their cues from Kratos’ past exploits (or were at least similar..."
We all saw the Christian protest against Dante's Inferno at E3 last week. But was it a real protest? Or just a PR stunt?
Today EA confirmed that the entire protest was staged. It was all just a big publicity stunt.
"There are two hot-button issues you should stay away from in casual conversation: politics, and religion. Thankfully, video games aren't a kindly chit-chat, which means you can overthrow governments, fight your way in and out of hell, and maybe even use crosses as weapons. Hell, I've used crosses in Castlevania for years, and never thought much of anything about it. Unfortunately for Electronic Arts, some hardcore Christian activists don't quite see it the same way I do."
Justin Lambros, the Senior Producer for the PSP version of Dante's Inferno, sits down and talks about how they will try and make the PSP version just as if you're playing it on a console. He also explains how important it is to capture the scene of hell and talks about how it will show up in the game, which is coming out next year.
Video is in the source.
"Assuming the role of Dante, players descend into Hell to save Beatrice, the love interest, whose soul has been seduced by Lucifer. However, predictably, on his mission, Dante must inevitably face demons of his own and ultimately redeem himself. Dante Alighieri’s infamous nine circles of Hell; limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery, provide the backdrop of Dante’s journey."
E3 is just a day away and already trailers are being leaked left, right and center. Here is the action-packed E3 trailer for the upcoming game Dante's Inferno...
Despite the wishes of at least a minority of fans (in the age of dying literature, bla bla bla), lead developer Jonathan Knight at newly-renamed Visercal Games says they're not trying to do anything innovative with Dante's Inferno, really. Rather, it's more important to them to remain within the confines of the "action adventure fighting genre" and deliver a great game that way.
Joy.
"After Electronic Theatre reported on the fact (with thanks to Blend Games) back at the start of March, Electronic Arts Inc. today officially announced that its award-winning EA Redwood Shores Studio has been renamed and re-branded Visceral Games to better reflect the studio’s culture, identity and focus on creating intense action-oriented intellectual properties."
Dante's Inferno literally throws you into the pits of hell. Fighting your way through the 7 layers, all in the hopes to save the women you love. Based on the classic poem the "Divine Comedy".

First look here at the PlayStation Portable version of Dante's Inferno, from Dead Space developer EA Redwood Shores.
Looks good, no? Kind of reminiscient of Shadow Man...
"Dante’s Inferno for the PSP is being developed by EA’s award-winning EA Redwood Shores studio and Artificial Mind and Movement (A2M), based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada."
Stig Asmussen, a dev working on GOW3 has spoken out about EA's new game Dante's Inferno. He hopes that the game is a threat to God Of War 3 because he wants to see more great games of the same genre. He also said that Ex members that worked on previous God Of War games are currently working on Dante's Inferno and he hopes they build a great from great literature.
"Electronic Arts Inc. and Starz Media’s Film Roman announced today the start of production on an animated movie based on the immortal epic Dante’s Inferno. The feature-length project will expand on the story in EA’s new, must-have game coming out for the Xbox360 and PLAYSTATION3 in 2010."
"For the chance of winning a trip to San Francisco as well as having your production featured as the official trailer for Dantes Inferno Electronic Arts are inviting fans to produce a thirty-three second trailer for the game."
We have here yet another look inside Dante's Inferno, Redwood Shores' upcoming adaptation of The Divine Comedy.
According to Desctructoid's "Hamza CTZ Aziz", live from Wondercon, the game begins with "Dante killing Death and taking Deaths scythe", then returning home to find his fiancée Beatrice has been murdered and "seduced" into Hell by Lucifier. Dante then proceeds to kick open the gates of Hell and try to get his lady back.
From here he faces each of his sins to redeem himself whi...
Dante's Inferno is the new IP from the creators of Dead Space, which combines gameplay from that title with that of God Of War and throws you in the pits of Hell.

Dante's Inferno is based on "The Divine Comedy", a classic poem of Italian literature about Dante traveling through Heaven and Hell.

"- The game runs at a solid 60FPS and is brought to life by the excellent animations of its enemies and protagonist.
- Dante Aligheri, the Florentine poet that the game is based upon, has been turned into a “muscular six foot knight with magic powers” to suit the tone of the game. Dante is fighting his way through Hell to save his lost love Beatrice, who has been murdered and wrongly sent to the underworld.
- One of the first boss encounters takes place in “Limbo," an area of lost souls who ..."
"The first solid gameplay details regarding EA Redwood Shores' poem-inspired action game Dante's Inferno, due out this fall, have arrived via UK print magazine PSM 3.
Described by the magazine as "Dead Space meets God of War in Hell," Dante's Inferno apparently borrows the atmosphere of EA Redwood Shore's action-horror title Dead Space and mixes it with the beat 'em up gameplay of SCE Santa Monica's PlayStation-exclusive God of War franchise."
