"Lately we have seen a renaissance of gaming tie-ins. Tie-ins can include movies, comic books, novels, and even television series. Big publishers like wringing every cent they can from a popular IP, and thankfully this will often bring fans some extra material about the universes that we've fallen in love with. They aren't always done well, but I would argue that there is an increasing movement towards hiring quality writers and artists for these projects, and it has made for some fantastic ti..."

"When Electronic Arts announced their plans to produce a video game based on the literary classic Dante's Inferno, gamers were outraged by more than just the title's uncanny resemblance to the God of War franchise. Question the literacy of those who indulge in our hobby all you want, but the generally negative reactions that greeted the interactive adaptation of Dante Alighieri's epic poem speak well for our kind's classical training. To the credit of these dissenters, Visceral Games really d..."

"While I'm still waiting for my copy of Dante's Inferno, I have been checking out the review sites, Achievement guides and message boards in preparation for the arrival of the game. One question that keeps being asked over and over again, between many different boards, is "How is EA not being sued over this game?" While the overwhelming majority of these posts reference God of War, I have even seen mention of a "license" to Inferno (as a part of the Divine Comedy). Before I begin, I know many ..."

Though Dante's Inferno is doing well critically and with the community, X-Play's Adam Sessler has a different opinion.

In this latest soapbox, he illustrates why the game is a clone gone bad. Hit the source for the video.

How faithful are mythology-based games? Dante's Inferno has raided a few eyebrows over its rather loose interpretation of the work it's based on, but there are many other games that have taken inspiration from mythology and religion too. Gamesradar takes a look at a handful of recent games and how faithful they are to the religion and mythology they are based off...

""Dante Alighieri wrote the greatest work of literature of all time. He was also a wimp. Not just any wimp: a creepy wimp. In Dante’s Inferno, the game loosely based on the first third of The Divine Comedy, Dante is a built cut of man-meat willing to do anything to retrieve his beloved Beatrice, who has been spirited away to Hell. In real life, Dante did love a woman named Beatrice, but he did it from a distance.""

"Let me put this bluntly: Slamming X a bunch of times to do something mundane like open a door is not fun. It's never been fun. I'm not sure how or why developers came up with the notion that it'd be a good idea to make players sweat to accomplish seemingly simple tasks, but it's a horrible practice that should die as soon as possible.

That's not to say that there's no room for portraying "effort" in a game. There's a value in it, as it allows players to share a moment with their avatar, as..."

"Something out of the ordinary is happening in 2010 – for the first time in some years publishers are taking a chance and packing quarter one with tons of high-profile video game releases. For RPG fans there is Final Fantasy XIII and Mass Effect 2, action gamers get Darksiders and Army of Two: The 40th Day, and adventure fans get their choice between Bayonetta and Dante’s Inferno (PS3 owners also can throw down in God of War III). These are only a few of the big budget titles that will be rele..."

"Now that the dust has settled from the best E3 in years, we can take a moment to process the years’ worth of upcoming-release insanity that we took in over four days – and that means making early, snap judgments based on what we’ve seen and played. One of the biggest and best presents for PS3 fans this year was a playable demo of the long-awaited God of War III, and it was joined on the show floor by a few games that clearly took their cues from Kratos’ past exploits (or were at least similar..."
