Books into games often go really well, it's when they are movies into games that I get a little worried . .but it seems Dante's Inferno is a slice above the rest. No pun intended, but you v=can take it if you like, just don't loose your head over it.
Come check out the review, and by all accounts it sounds impressive, and the collectors edition of it isn't half bad either. The art is just spectacular, it's something I'd be getting - once I get all the other games of course.
When will ...
Today our angst-ridden Yahtzee has a go at the hellacious Dante's Inferno, the latest title from Visceral Games.
Right, we all know what this about, then. Hit the source.
Xbox Evolved's review of Dante's inferno. They give the game a 7.7 out of a 10 saying that although many other sites may have bashed it and the general sense that the game is bad is floating - the game is actually pretty good.
Why on earth would you want to travel through hell, you ask? Because it boasts impressive graphics, creepy creatures, and a whole lot of gore. That, and there's an abundance of topless women. Here are 6.66 reasons that you should play EA's new game.
Astoundingly short and already in flames by most critics, Dante's Inferno is actually a hell of a ride and deserves at least some credit to it's pure, adrenaline packed 8 hours.
"All in all, Dante’s Inferno is a pretty good game. The core gameplay is straight from an industry classic, and the replay value is good. Though derivative, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The game looks, plays, and sounds very well. There is some repetition, a few aggravating puzzles, and though many were satisfying, some boss fights were a little stale. All things considered, I would recommend this game to anyone that calls themselves a fan of action games, and hope a sequel isn’t too fa..."
"Dante’s Inferno has vision, but lacks scope and that makes it an average experience. That it departs significantly from the book is excusable; that it merely mimics God of War, to some extent, is on par with a lot of titles jumping on that bandwagon. This is a game that could have been more, but it settles for average."
Highlighting the extreme amount of "gore" and shock factor thrown into EA's game, the review initially criticizes the themes and visuals, but goes on to commend the solid mechanics and gameplay in the game.
Famitsu recently reviewed three big upcoming titled - Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, MAG and Dante's Inferno... and they enjoyed all of them, giving them all scores in the 30s (out of 40).
"Dante’s Inferno has taken a bit of flak from the gaming community for borrowing a lot (and I do mean a lot) of gameplay elements from God of War. But when it’s all said and done, Dante’s Inferno is a fun experience. The journey through Hell is one worth taking. It doesn’t last a terribly long time and has some lackluster moments, but the majority of the game is a blast to fight through."
Yet another disappointing review for Dante's Inferno, a game that IGN slams as the biggest game copy ever...and you guessed it, a copy of the God of War franchise. This is undeniably true it has to be said, but in my view you have to look at the credentials of the game. Game Trailers do to an extent. The video review is thorough and has excellent visuals.
"Games are usually based or inspired after movies, books and historical events. However, it’s not common that you’ll find a game based on a poem. Enter Dante’s Inferno, EA’s hack-and-slash action title that follows the words and journey of Dante Alighieri, a 14th century poet, who describes his journey through the nine circles of Hell. But can this Crusader join the ranks of hack-and-slash legends, or will this journey be, well, hell."
All Age Gaming's John Elliott takes a look at EA's Dante's Inferno. Dante's Inferno is the hack 'n' slash game that has many similarities to the PS3 exclusive God Of War series. Did developer Visceral Games create a game that will rival the next instalment in the God Of War series? Find out after the jump.
"When planning a videogame, classical literature isn't the first source material that comes to mind. For centuries, the Western concept of the afterlife has been framed by Dante's The Divine Comedy, which terrified and enraptured people with its journey through the lands of the dead. After all, wandering through bleak environments and simply talking to suffering people doesn't sound like engaging videogame material. Then Visceral Games and Electronic Arts came along, adding an action premise a..."
"Go to Hell - Literally; that is the tagline for this feature review, just keep that in mind as you travel with me through one of the most mature-themed video games coming to market. The first movement of the epic poem The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri relates the story of Dante himself descending into Hell for a guided tour. And though his work is regarded as one of the most important literary masterpieces of all time, it is one twisted piece of work. In his descriptions he holds nothing b..."
