"Tonight, television fans around the country tuned in for the season premier of LOST. If the producers are to be believed, it's the last season, and should give some closure to the plot lines started up over the past five years. While watching, I couldn't help but think about what makes the show so successful, and realized there are a few things that game makers could take away from J.J. Abrams' series. Well, besides Polar Bears, of course."

The flight-based combat game Dark Void was pretty ill-received by the gaming press, so Yahtzee's take should be especially unforgiving. Only one way to find out...

"Michael Lafferty of GameZone writes "Gamers don’t care. Doesn’t matter if it is sunny or cold outside – there is the warmth of the television screen or computer monitor, reveling in the glow of White Knight Chronicles, or Mass Effect 2. So what if winter is a bit longer. Six more weeks of winter is all the excuse needed. "You still gaming?" Don't scramble for a response - blame it on the groundhog.""

""Jetpacks are one subject that should always make for a good video game or film, especially if you throw in outer space and world domination. Because of this belief developer Airtight Games and publisher Capcom decided to unleash a little product known as Dark Void, onto the Xbox 360 gaming public. Taking its cues from movies such as Rocketeer and Star Wars it seemed as though the game was setup for success. Ever since I saw Dark Void for the first time over twelve months ago the creators use..."

The game was set to come out at the end of September, but will now not see the light of day until between January 1 and March 31, 2010. A rough hit, to be sure, but on the bright side the game should be even more polished and come with more content upon launch.

"Dark Void
CAPCOM’s Dark Void aka “the jetpack-game,” as Airtight Games developers affectionately refer to it, uses PhysX to create “realistic” jetpack, UFO, and spaceship physics. It also has the distinction of being “the first game to use dynamic, accurate smoke effects and smoke trails.” Dark Void uses a “vertical combat system” that brings the action off the ground, into the air, and back to the ground seamlessly, giving the player a particularly three-dimensional experience. Live out you..."

Dark Void, a third-person flight action game lets players run-and-gun in the skies using a jetpack. The game is set to launch this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Airtight Games, the dudes behind Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, have released a teaser trailer for their upcoming sci-fi adventure Dark Void, which offers "vertical combat", a rocket pack, and more. The story doesn't exactly seem original, but the gameplay sounds awesome. Anyway, we'll have to see when it releases later this year (we've heard May 26).

Also the official website is now live, though there's nothing but the teaser on it as of yet.

"Dark Void puts players in the shoes of a pilot who can defy gravity with his jetpack. The game takes verticality in a new direction as combat can take place at any height and from any orientation. It's an ambitious game that I'm definitely looking forward to, and we have some new screenshots that might persuade you to agree with me."

Capcom has released a gameplay video from Dark Void, a game featuring both aerial and on-foot combat, featuring a bit of what to expect from the multi-plane combat. The game details are sketchy at the moment but it appears to take place in the Bermuda Triangle and involves aliens (doesn't it always?).

"There's no multiplayer mode planned for Capcom's Dark Void, director of design Kraig Kujawa has confirmed.

"We explored it, but there are so many huge features in this game, we really wanted to focus on making the most kick-ass, single-player features possible," Kujawa told Joystiq.

And when Kujawa said the team 'explored it,' he meant the team actually built a multiplayer mode. "We had multiplayer up and going," said designer Jose Perez.

"It was fun, and to be honest, we just could ..."
