"As a fan of post-apocalyptic themes, I am of course drawn to games take place after catastrophic events. Though this list is not exhaustive, it’s revealing that much of is so top-heavy. With the theme becoming increasingly popular, I don’t seem to be alone in my enjoyment of post-apocalyptic games. Here’s hoping for more to come."

How faithful are mythology-based games? Dante's Inferno has raided a few eyebrows over its rather loose interpretation of the work it's based on, but there are many other games that have taken inspiration from mythology and religion too. Gamesradar takes a look at a handful of recent games and how faithful they are to the religion and mythology they are based off...
A year ago now, I posted an article concerning the possibility of a de Blob sequel. Now in 2010, President and CEO of THQ, Brian Farrell, has announced that de Blob will be seeing its return in 2011. Check out the link to read more, including the mention of new stuff for Saints Row, among others, as well.
"Michael Lafferty of GameZone writes "Gamers don’t care. Doesn’t matter if it is sunny or cold outside – there is the warmth of the television screen or computer monitor, reveling in the glow of White Knight Chronicles, or Mass Effect 2. So what if winter is a bit longer. Six more weeks of winter is all the excuse needed. "You still gaming?" Don't scramble for a response - blame it on the groundhog.""
January was a big month for the video games industry with many high-profile releases across all platforms. So which games proved to the best so far in 2010?
"THQ Inc. has today announced the release of a title update for the Xbox 360 version of the recently released Darksiders, the critically acclaimed Action-Adventure videogame developed by Vigil Games. Darksiders casts the player as War, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse blamed for bringing the end of days earlier than planned."
"Everyone likes to game on their system of choice. It’s the unspoken right that every gamer has been privy to since the first console hit the market and was subsequently followed by its competitor. This kicked off what was known as the console wars and ever since, there have been new veterans joining the ranks every single day. While console exclusives are all well and good being, for the most part, system sellers. It is usually the cross platform titles that stand out the most as people will ..."
"Darksiders is considered by many to be a great game, albeit one that suffers from an intense case of plagiarism. Comparisons to the The Legend of Zelda run amok, with even the game's developer, Vigil, happily confessing to borrowing gameplay elements from the classic Nintendo franchise.
Let us at least try and be honest here. If you've played one Zelda game, you've played them all. Some stupid little elf starts off doing nothing, goes to a dungeon, gets a boomerang, gets a hookshot, gets ..."
After finishing up Darksiders, Gaming Target is looking forward to the inevitable sequel and here are ten things they'd like to see developer Vigil Games and publisher THQ add to it.
"Let me put this bluntly: Slamming X a bunch of times to do something mundane like open a door is not fun. It's never been fun. I'm not sure how or why developers came up with the notion that it'd be a good idea to make players sweat to accomplish seemingly simple tasks, but it's a horrible practice that should die as soon as possible.
That's not to say that there's no room for portraying "effort" in a game. There's a value in it, as it allows players to share a moment with their avatar, as..."
Newegg.com put on sale Darksiders video game for Xbox 360 for $39.99. With free shipping, this is by far the best price that was ever available for this game. The game will sell out soon so hurry.
Various Darksiders: Wrath of War walkthrough videos are compiled together on one page by VGB. Helpful if you're looking to finish the new Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 action-adventure game.
"Darksiders is like a amalgamation of several classic games. It takes freely from such titles as Devil May Cry, God of War, and the entire Zelda Series. Now, many games try to do this, and fail. Darksiders, however, succeeds enough to not only be mentioned, but enough to be entered into the pantheon of great action/puzzle/platformers.
The Action in Darksiders is tangible. The game has tons of visceral kills, and it even keeps track of how much demon blood you’ve spilled. Every different ty..."
"If one were to force the DNA of Kratos, Link, and Arthas of Warcraft fame into one body, they might come up with the character known as War from Vigil’s action-adventure-apocalyptic nightmare game that is Darksiders. He has the personality of Arthas (post-death knight), the fighting moxy of Kratos, and the puzzle solving capabilities of our favorite green-clad elf. The game unabashedly borrows from these characters, and the games from which they hail."

"From the time of it’s original announcement, the combat has been one of the areas of Darksiders which has received the greatest amount of attention. Frequently related to God of War - which in itself is a justifiable comparison, though certainly undermines the greater sum of Darksiders’ parts – a single face button provides basic attacks, while a second grants players the option to grab scenery items in the surrounding area, and use them as weapons. The combat is never less than fluid, and Wa..."
"All in all Darksiders is proof-positive that even though 2010 hasn't really even taken its first steps yet, we're already on our way to a great year in gaming. Darksiders is the perfect game to spend your January with. Needless to say this game is likely to be getting a sequel since THQ is looking for a big hit to cling on to. ..."
"Award-winning composers Cris Velasco (God of War series, Clive Barker's Jericho) and Mike Reagan (God of War series, Conan) have created the original music score for THQ's highly anticipated new Action/Adventure title Darksiders, it was revealed today. Developed by THQ in-house studio Vigil Games, Darksiders puts players in the role of War, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse."
"Mythology and ancient lore have always been perfect backdrops for video games, especially the ones of action/adventure variety. Over the last couple weeks I got to complete the story of Darksiders twice, and what I walked away with was the thought that more entertainment experiences should approach this dreary storyline (Bayonetta will be). The basis of the game revolves around the four horsemen and one of the favorite general plots of all time, the apocalypse. I have always had a mini-obsess..."
A list of the Achievements and Trophies you can get in Darksiders, the end-of-days action-adventure game coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on January 5th.
"With 2009 having now ended we look to 2010 and see what games to excite us are on their way to make us want to spend what money we have left after Christmas. What better way to start off 2010 than with Vigil Games‘ Darksiders (ex-Darksider: Wrath Of WAR) which releases in the 2nd week of January – 8th Jan 2010.
Darksiders follows a member of the mythological Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Conquest, War, Famine, and Death) who ride to Earth during the end of the world and bringing on a wa..."

All Age Gaming look at the new IP's that are coming in 2010 and narrow the list down to 10 of the best. With so many great games coming in the new year, there is sure to be something for everyone!
"Mythology and ancient lore have always been perfect backdrops for video games, especially the ones of action/adventure variety. Last week I got the chance to put some real hands-on time with the upcoming action game from mega-publisher THQ titled Darksiders, and what I walked away with was the thought as to why more entertainment sources up to this point have not dealt with the same storyline. The basis of the game revolves around the four horsemen and one of the favorite general plots of all..."
""At last week’s Darksiders press event in Los Angeles, California, Andrew Groen of GameZone was able to log in a good amount of playtime with the action-adventure title from THQ.
Not only was he able to see the full build of the title, he was able to be a witness of how challenging the title can be when he encountered, the first major boss, Tiamat. Before he fought the crazy bat-demon, he was able to dispose of the mini-boss, The Jailer, in a grueling battle that displayed a hilarious exec..."
"THQ has today revealed the pre-order incentive available for the forthcoming Darksiders release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Due to arrive on January 8th 2010, Darksiders is the highly-anticipated title that casts you as one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Blamed and shunned when the apocalypse begins prematurely, it’s up to you to clear your name."
"Gamers will explore a world set one hundred years after the biblical Apocalypse, travelling through expansive dungeons, battling demons and angels and striking deals with unsavoury characters in an epic quest to restore the balance between Heaven and Hell."
"Throughout the course of this past weekend, September 17th – 20th, the Paris Game Festival took place over on the continent, showcasing some of the best games of this year and the hopefuls for 2010. Big name publishers such as Microsoft, Sony, Activision, Electronic Arts, Nintendo and Square Enix were joined by a raft of development studios and accessory manufacturers, each attempting to wow their audience with their latest and greatest releases."
"Apart from what seems to be a great idea for a story, which takes an interesting modern vision of the biblical Apocalypse myth, the most important part of Darksiders was always going to be its combat. After all, if you don't get the combat right in a hack-and-slash game (or in most games for that matter), it really doesn't matter how good every other aspect is. Luckily, this game certainly left me with a great first impression of its action-packed combat mechanics. The controls feel natural a..."
"While at this year's San Diego Comic Con, we stopped by the THQ show floor booth to checkout Vigil Games' upcoming third-person actioner, Darksiders: Wrath of War. Due out in January of 2010, Darksiders puts players into the warboots of War - one of the dreaded Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. War is on a quest to find out who actually started a premature apocalypse...

"Following the release of the final design of the PLAYSTATION 3’s (PS3) Darksiders box art last week, THQ have followed-up with the Xbox 360 version. Although practically identical to the PS3 version, indistinguishable in all but its dimensions, the updated will no doubt please those Xbox 360 gamers eagerly awaiting THQ’s apocalypse adventure."
"With THQ’s Darksiders finally readying itself for release at the end of the year, the publisher has released the final design of the PLAYSTATION 3 box art, alongside some brand new screenshots. The box art is similar to that which has been released before, but shows the definitive drop of the previously suggested subtitle "Wrath of War"."
"Set in a post apocalyptic world, the war between heaven and hell has just ended making hell the victor. While the battle between angels and demons took place; "War", one of the four legendary Horsemen of the apocalypse sent to earth was blamed for the turnout which the result was hell on earth. Now being stripped from his power, faces being exiled and cursed to roam the earth forever. Instead of taking this lying down he sets out to seek revenge and clear his name."
"Now that the dust has settled from the best E3 in years, we can take a moment to process the years’ worth of upcoming-release insanity that we took in over four days – and that means making early, snap judgments based on what we’ve seen and played. One of the biggest and best presents for PS3 fans this year was a playable demo of the long-awaited God of War III, and it was joined on the show floor by a few games that clearly took their cues from Kratos’ past exploits (or were at least similar..."
"Electronic Theatre first previewed Darksiders at last year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and was impressed by its flair and depth, even then. Nearly a year on, we are left in no doubt that the new development from THQ is going to be a hit. Due for release on January 1st, 2010 on PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360, Electronic Theatre brings you more details from E3 2009 to whet your appetite."
Strategy Informer has published 10 new screenshots for Darksiders: Wrath of War, which is currently set for release on the Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3.
"Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda franchise is among the most highly praised in the video game industry. Even the worst titles (barring the non-Nintendo produced CD-I exclusives) are among some of the top-rated games, and Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time is still the best-rated title of all time. For some reason, there aren't many attempts to copy The Legend of Zelda's success. The games that follow the Zelda mold are few and far between, and the only really notable one in the last few years..."
Darksiders: Wrath of War teaser trailer is out. Since it is only a teaser trailer. It shows no gameplay footage, but we do see War, and he looks ready to kill.
